Hallo all.
So I have a dual boot Ubuntu/Windows XP laptop and I just stole all the HD space from Windows to put on my Ubuntu (main) system because I figured I only need a couple Gigs to play Sims. Which is pretty much the purpose of having the whole (Windows) system at all.
Now I have an Amazon Gift Card and I was thinking I might pick up a few EPs, because I'm kinda bored of Base Game and they're relatively inexpensive. Buuuut there's the problem of hard drive space. That system is pretty much bare (uninstalled everything that wasn't integral to the system, moved all my documents over here or onto my external.) I tell you all this so you'll understand that it's not really doable to clear out my HD and put the games on there.
So that brings me to my query: Has anyone attempted to run TS2 and expansions off an external HD (USB 2.0 preferably) and was it successful? I assume I'd have to move the Original game over too but I don't mind doing that. There's been a few discussions on this but nothing conclusive and I hoped someone might have tried it since then. I really don't want to buy the EPs and then have it not work and have wasted my money.
So if anyone has attempted this can you let me know how it worked, any bugs, how game performance was, and anything specific you needed to do during installation?
Also if anyone knows a Windows emulator for Linux that runs Sims 2 that'd be awesome to know. I've found not much success on that front, but it's worth asking, I think.
So yeah, any help would be massively appreciated.
Thanks ever so in advance.
