View Full Version : 3 Sims not based off of anyone

I have made three Sims that I really like, but I'm not sure if they're too plain for me to upload here. They're not based off of anybody real, they're just random fiddles I was doing in CAS. So I was wondering what ya'll thought, any of them worth sharing? Anything to do to make them worth sharing? Thoughts?

This is Amanda.

This is Jacob.

And finally, Annie.

I know, even their names sound so plain. But that's what they looked like to me and I don't really like funky names. So, any thoughts?

Can you get some in-game pics of them inside? It's so hard to see detail in the bright outdoor light.

Out of 'em, I definitely like Jacob the most, though his eyes seem to be pointing strangely downward (I think that's the eyelid height slider)? He's got a neat look, though maybe needs some tweaking in the brows, and a change of look to something a bit... I dunno, maybe put him in black leather pants and a spikey dark blue haircut or something a bit more funky? :)

Hey ! you have some sims that could be really unique with a few slight changes :D
have you made changes have you made to his face so far?

Some General Tips :
-remember ,when you take photos be sure to take them indoors with bright lights so we can she all your sims features clearly.
-I see alot of blurring in your sims' clothing, for taking pictures you could change your graphics settings higher

Suggestions:
- the punk look does work for him. take off those piercings and the Mohawk
- you could try his hair shaved if you want. , although I like his old hair best :p
- also go back to his previous brows
- just *slightly*increase his jaw shape
-and give him slightly more cheekbones

And.. that's it for now. make those small changes and we'll see what we got ;)
more than :gjob: so far! your like more than half way there :anime:

And I also like Annie but i figured we would focus on Jacob first :)

Okay, so I did the changes you mentioned but I'm not sure on his hair color. Or the style for that matter. Pics are attached this time. What do you think? And I made my settings the highest they could go.

:bunny:Much better with the lights and graphics!
Suggestions:
-me and my typos:P I meant the punk look didn't suit him. I liked his hair, brows and outfit you had for him intially
- bring down his eyebrow height and make them less curved
- make his eyes more almond shaped than tear shaped.
- I like his face shape and nose :anime:
- he has no double, eyelids are you using an Asian skin tone? more defined upper eyelids would give more definition to his eyes, in this particular case.
-why is his eyebrows purple? change them to brown :P
- his mouth a little plain right now, try rotating his mouth curve down while rotating his mouth corners up

generally my tip would be working and experimenting with the eyes some more

generally my tip would working and experimenting with the eyes so more

Um...you want me to work on the eyes more?

Well anyways, this is what I came up with. I gave him his original hair and clothing too, he's supposed to be a country boy. Not sure on his eyes still though. What do you think?

I think his eyes are a bit too round. Maybe if you can make them more boxy (and I mean that in the most sensible sense). Know what I'm saying?

Not quite sure what you meant exactly, but I tried making his eyes less round. Don't think it got me anywhere though. Thoughts? Are there eye sliders out there that would help?

Edit: Okay, found some eye sliders. Going to go try again to adjust his eyes.

Edit2: The first two pictures are before the eye sliders. The next four pictures are after the eye sliders.

Last Edit: Okay, one more picture. Got a freakishly close closeup of him so you can see the eyes better after the eye sliders were used.

suggestions:
I like his old eyes better but from there they could still use a little work. particularly in regards to what RH said.

how to make the eyes less round? Arisuka's tutorial can help-->http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=450276
and there are some good general tips as well :D

no need for custom eye sliders. the eyes shape slider and apex slider that comes with the base game should help you most

he is coming along good so far but try some of those tips and see what you got. he has alot of some good ingredients but a few are missing.

Okay I went back to the original eyes and tweaked them and used that link you provided for some help. What do you think?

my suggestions and tips so far:
lower his eyebrows some more and make them darker
turn down his mouth corners
I still think his yes need to be more shapely underneath and you'll see a big difference overall
increase his jaw shape a tad, give him more of a defined jawline
turn down his lip corners
Try to avoid all-round eyes and roundly shaped brows

much better :) I'm seeing an improvement in the eyes definitively .but he needs more fiddling (move on to the mouth now) which takes time.he's in a stage where he's beginning to get there but no quite. there is still a spark missing >.< I'm sure if you follow the general tips below it will become easier :luff:

other good general tips
creating a really good sim takes a long time! Don't just crank out a sim in 5 or 10 minutes or even in an hour! Spend at least 20 to 30 minutes on the sim, then save them. Then go do something else, come back, and work on them again later with a fresh set of eyes. Repeat until you have a really unique, interesting sim - there's no such thing as too much tweaking!

Make at least one unique, stand-out feature, and then adjust all the others to compliment it. A strange nose, interesting lips, or tilted eyes look much more impactful if the whole face has unique but not over-unique features

Not sure what that means. Oh do you mean eyes? Lol.

Here are my changes.

Thank you for all your help by the way, I really appreciate it. :)

^ sorry I meant his eyes needs more shaping under neath via eyes shape slider and playing around with the inner eye corner corner height
-but his eyes are *much*better, you don't have to tweak them for now
- the jaw line needs to be much more defined. using the jaw shape slider
- make his mouth less wide and his top lip a little fuller
-remember to use indoor lighting with a lot of bright lights!

...and that's changes for now. do them and we'll see what we got ;)

not only is he coming along nicely, there has been a huge improvement :D wow what a difference the eyes makes

the jaw line needs to be much more defined. using the jaw shape slider
Even more? Okay.

not only is he coming along nicely, there has been a huge improvement
Thanks. :)

I checked out a few of your sims and ended up downloading some. They're really awesome! :D

aww,Thank you :lovestruc

suggestions:
-his jawline has to defined even more  by alot. although I understand the oval face shape and width . But he still needs a jaw bone, which right now it looks like he doesn't have one , which is unnatural IMHO

:alarm:Only do these suggestions below after you did the one above^
-this is especially obvious from his side profile. his chin needs to be scaled a tad smaller
-and the has to be separation from his lips and chin space. there is a few sliders for that in the base game*forgot the name* one of them is found in the chin category

- lighting is much better.remember to use this type of lighting for uploads
-and his lips are great! I'll say they are finished

he is nearly in the finishing stages. notice how many of the tweaks I suggested are just on certain features specifically. that's because these are fairly significant in the "completeness" of the sim. I'm only trying to suggest tweaks that will keep and not mess up your initial look of the sim while fixing the minor technicalities. so hopefully I'm doing that while keeping your vision :)

his jawline has to defined even more by alot.

lol okay, well if I do it too much it'll look funny (as in his face gets distorted) so this is almost as high as I can do it without distorting his face.

But here are my changes.

Okay so I did some more tweaking of the eyes, cheeks, jaw and chin. Thoughts?

Arisuka
3rd Nov 2011, 05:21 PM
Try to bring the jaw up a bit, to give the face a bit more balanced proportions. The jawline also needs a lot more definition... even if you'd want the jawline to be round, you can make a round, yet defined jawline.
I really like that look in his eyes! I'd bring the inner eye corner down a bit, then lower the upper eye lid to give the eyes more of a shaped look. I'd also take a bit of the mass off the nose, making it more defined. Then, the lower lip could be less rounder, for a more balanced, relaxed look to the mouth.

More of Jacob with edits suggested by Arisuka. I think he's starting to look much better. Thoughts?

More tweaks of Jacob. Better? Worse? What do you all think of him?

Claudia my dear, you seem stuck :p
Unfortunately I wish could help more
The only thing I could suggest is taking more risk in general with your tweaking . don't be afraid to uglify him a bit , then tuning it down afterwards. It would be much easier that way.The problem is not that he looks pudding(far from it)He just lacks the spark, which sometimes makes him seem less unique and rather boring.

*edit*Your November 3rd update seems fine actually! Just increase his bottom lip thickness. Then try uploading him and see ;)

FREEDOM_55, I did some more tweaks and uploaded him, just waiting to see if he gets approved or not.
