View Full Version : Unicorn Breeding

Because I like all things mystical when I found out about the unicorns I was thrilled (still want werewolves though...).

So anyhow, I got myself a unicorn and breed it with a horse until I got a unicorn. Set the original free and bred the offspring with another horse and got another unicorn. All things dandy except I noticed one strange thing.

How come the grandchild unicorn aged to elder before his unicorn sire? Both are on my lot and being played. I also noticed that the adult span for unicorns brought in from the wild were long but the hybrids were shorter. Anyone else notice this?

I haven't done a pure-breed unicorn, but on my list of things to test.

Maybe being part horse causes them to age faster. But what do I know? I have never engaged in unicornication.

How much faster? The hybrids might be on the horse lifetime, not the unicorn one. Unicorns (from the wild, that is) live about as long as vampires.

Out of curiosity, when you release a unicorn to the wild, do they disappear or turn into a wild horse?

When returned to the wild, the unicorn just vanishes in a puff of smoke, like how they disappear at 5 am before you bring them into the household.

I want to say the second generation hybrid (3/4 horse) aged at about the same rate of a regular horse. The first generation hybrid appears to be about twice as much.

Gonna catch me another unicorn and do more testing. Though I've been having bad luck with breeding, all my babies are colts and not a single filly. You'd think out of 4 baby horses I'll have at least one filly.

Well the normal unicorn "adult" stage is something like 84 days, so compare your first gen hybrid against that when you get one. I'd also check how purebreds do compared to wild ones.

I'm starting to think my game is glitchy. My second gen hybrid who is an elder, his age read 10 days and my lifespan is on normal. First gen is living longer but the adult stage doesn't look like it spans more than 30.

Again, further testing is required. My game's been crashing due to graphical issues.

UPDATE: Realized a mod I have affects the Aging Manager xml file and had not be updated for Pets. So it did not apply the age multiplier to the Unicorns (otherwise it worked just fine).
