I am enjoying the makeovers a lot. Instead of plugging away at a legacy like I planned, my sim is just making over the town and having parties to schmooze her clients' families. I love just spending hours making over sims in intersting outfits. I love when I look at the townies and they look like they put some thought into their wardrobes rather than just grabbing whatever. I like matching their clothes to their occupations or traits.
This is a whole new level of playing for me but I don't understand really how it works.
I am very low level so my charisma and artistic skills are still low, so maybe this is why it seems random.
I don't get the ruined outfits very often, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how the makeovers are scored. It seems to be more by their personalities than the actual outfits themselves. I thought it might be based on how much I talk to them, but it doesn't seem to matter. I thought perhaps there was something where certain traits would like or dislike things (like maybe geniuses would like glasses..) but it seems random. I could dress the sims all up in identical cow suits and they would probably still like or dislike it on whatever weird scoring thing is going on.
For instance, I have some who seem to hate everything I put them in and a few that love everything and give it five stars no matter what. I have one guy who comes to the shop every single day and he always gives five stars even if I make him look like a total clown (which now I do because I know he will be back the next day for another makeover)
I also don't understand the porfolio thing. Sometimes I will get a request for a makeover, and the guy never shows up to the salon. I can make lots of 3 and 5 star outfits and my portfolio won't expand because the one guy who asked for a makeover either never shows up or doesn't like what I made. How important is the portfolio for levelling up?
