View Full Version : Recreating Irma Oldie

I apologize if this is in the wrong section, but I really wasn't sure where to stick this. If it is in the wrong area, then please move it ^^-.

Currently I am playing through Pleasantview's premade ancestors and I've hit a snag. In trying to create a YA version of some sims for the next round I went to clone Irma Oldie in bodyshop (from a clone by Celesta, iirc). Despite not having the necessary mesh files for her hair, bodyshop provided her elder self with a basegame one (the bg long hair).

Hoping wildly, I aged her down; she turned bald. At first I thought "Okay, maybe I can select a new hair for her." And then I quickly discovered that was not possible: she was bald with no hair options (this was the first time I attempted this). The second time I put her in she wound up bald again, but this time I could select a hair color for her, just again no actual hairstyle.

Which now makes me wonder: would it be possible to open up her package file and fix this somehow? As in, go into SimPe and give her a hairstyle/fix genetics? I know I could just leave her out of my play rotations, and have Herb Oldie without his parents, but I really want to know if she can be fixed.

There are some dead Sims you can't "recreate" for some reason.

I tried exporting Lyla Grunt via SimPE but every time I tried to work on her in BodyShop, it kept crashing.

I've had quite a few bald sims with no hair options in Bodyshop after doing a huge CC cleanout. However, I do have the ability to add hair in CAS. Have you tried adding hair in the game? It might work.

I think it'd be a lot easier just to get into CAS, figure out her face template, tweak it into something acceptable, and use a built-from-scratch CAS sim to fill her place.

I'd be surprised to find that the people making the dead sim thumbnails for family trees did much more than pick face templates and slap some random hair and clothes onto them, anyway.

What if it was because of her unused beehive hair?

Sushigal, with these sims, were you able to do anything to their eyebrows in bodyshop? Irma didn't have that option available when I went looking.

I am really surprised she didn't crash my bodyshop; honestly, of all the ones that could, you'd think Irma would be one of them! But no, first time she had that bg hair, next time it was a blank space! ><. With some of the other sims I've been aging down and playing with, they do have some fairly unique faces (while others were indeed tweaked only slightly). I'll get Irma into bodyshop one last time and try to take some detailed pictures of her young for her recreation.

I don't think I had a look at their eyebrows, once I saw the hair was all gone, I thought "bugger, I hope I can add hair in CAS" and then rejoiced when I could.

Well darn, I was kinda hoping you had looked at that! I am tempted to try it, but I think I'll try with the brand-new one first and see how that goes. Luckily, I make plenty of back-ups!

Sims are often bold in Bodyshop and have no hair options, but once they're put into the game through CAS, everything is ok.

I'm not sure what the problem is. If it's about Bodyshop, then don't pay attention, she should be ok in the game. If she has no options in the game, however, then I can't help you.
