View Full Version : I'd like a Plant Anywhere mod.

I did some googling for this already, yes, I know. It's even such an obvious request that when you type into google:

"sims 3 plant a"

... it autocomplete with "sims 3 plant anywhere mod", indicating a lot of other people have made the same search. So I'm not asking for something that other people aren't anxious to get.

There have been some threads here about it. One of them referenced a core mod by AD85 which is now deleted. I understand there might be a capability to do this using AwesomeMod, but I hate having to install that again with all the ensuing maintenance headaches just to get this.

Is this something that can only be done with a core mod? Shouldn't there be some way to make it possible to do this anywhere on any square that is flat and routable?

? you mean like on the roof or floor or bottom of the pool or something like that and you are referring to planting seeds?

No. I mean like, plant in the park (community lot). Plant alongside the road (flat and routable but un-zoned). I'd like to be able to plant some grapes around the lakes. Things like that.

Planting a rooftop garden does sound interesting, though. That's a very urban thing to do. That's out of the scope of what I want, though, which is to plant on bare ground, just any bare, flat, routable ground that doesn't already have something in the way.

regarding planting on terrain that is not any kind of lot, I do not believe that is possible.

discussion regarding planting on a commercial lot: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=351351 and http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=587.0

I read that before coming here, and many others, here and elsewhere.

To save other people reading this time, in case they don't know what we're talking about: You can build a community garden a couple of ways. One is, you can make it a residential lot, move a Sim in, have him grow the items you want, then move him out and rezone it as commercial.

Another way is to use the BuyDebug while building in a commercial lot. That brings up a number of hidden objects, including buyable plants. HOWEVER, you can only do this with the basegame veggies. No plasma fruit, for instance. (They come with Late Night).

Some veggies go barren after the first harvest. That includes death flowers and plasma fruit. So unless those plants are changed by a mod (and that's not what I'm asking for), they need to be replanted. Which means going through the whole rigamarole again, whichever of the two methods you used.

So I'd rather just have a mod that lets me plant anywhere, including community lots. Apparently Plant-on-any-Lot capability is already in AwesomeMod. (Just checked, yup, it is.) AwesomeMod is a big commitment, though. Once you have installed it in your game, you can't ever go back. So it's AwesomeMod or nothing.

I wouldn't mind using another core mod if it was light enough that it could be removed after usage.

As for planting on non-lots... I suspect it is possible, just as it's possible to place objects like stereos and tents down anywhere in the game world that is routable, whether it is a zoned lot or not. But since I don't know how to make the mod, that's just a matter of idle debate. The principle should be the same. Forget it though. I'd be quite content to just be able to plant in community lots. As a note: There are already plenty of plants on non-zoned areas in the game.

I suspect I'll never get a useful reply to this now. Whenever these request threads get too technical or argumentative, they die.

There's a mod here (recently updated) that will give you the missing plants, in buydebug- beyond that, I'm afraid I can't help.

Thank you Megativity. That will have to do :)

I feel frustrated because I used to be a good TS1/TS2 hacker and I don't know if I have the patience to learn how to do it for TS3.

Bump.

I know this thread died over a year ago, and there are still no such mods. Doc Doofus's statement is right, google STILL auto-populates the "plant anywhere mod" and that's how I found this thread. I refuse to run Awesome. I'm not here to bash Awesome; it does a fine job, it's just not to my taste.

Since it's pretty obvious that anything Awesome can do, other modders can also do ... how about it? Can somebody out there make it so we can have harvestable gardens dotting the landscape without having to move our sims all over town or put up with Awesome? Please?

I refuse to think Awesome.

[Tempest] allows you to plant objects on community lots. Place the ingredient on the outside ground on a community lot, and use the "Plant Here" interaction. :)

Hi Twallen!

Hey Krysee, Twallan makes good mods and you don't have to swim with sharks if you need help over there at NRAAS. :)

To: Twallan or any other with knowledge:

Found NRaas Industries (http://nraas.wikispaces.com/)
There I found Tempest (http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Tempest) and continued to Tempest Interactions (http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Tempest+Interactions#Tempest-Plants)
But only when I clicked Base-Mod (http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Tempest+Phase+Two) I found info about the Plant Here interaction.
This mod unlocks the ability to plant on community lots.
Place the seed/ingredient on the ground, and use the "Plant Here" interaction to perform the action.

I tried to find out more about it.. but I`m a noob.. without Season installed.
Can I still use it?

Yes, you can use the mod without [Seasons] being installed.
