View Full Version : The best wedding gift you've received?

So recently (well not that recent in my time b/c my game is constantly crashing), but in my sim's lives, my couple got married and they received a few gifts from some of the people who attended, and then a gift from there dog....? Anyhow, amongst those gifts I got a fountain which I "returned to the store" and received 3,500$. When I saw the price it was worth, I gave it an "Oh yay! Free money for me." A few cheap items later I clicked on the final item which looked like a cheap toy sculpture that I assumed would only give me about 20$. As I "returned" what I thought was a little cheap toy, the game prompted it was worth 75,000$! Upon seeing this price I couldn't help but say, "Oh holy s***! H*** yea!" My sims were already almost worth 300,000K, but I think this particular gift finally put my female sim where she wants to be.

So what's kind of gifts have you received from wedding guests?

The best, if you can call it that, was a statue so big it didn't even fit the lot, so I sold it and got money for it. The worst, was a CC "poster" that was basically paint spatters on the wall. I don't sell the gifts when I get them, unless they are something I can't really use like huge statues or fountains. Those I sell and pretend my Sims got money as a gift. The other items, I try to add into the house.

I love the wedding gift feature, I just wish it wouldn't be broken in the way that you can get presents from people long dead.

My Sim once got "gifted" the fountain thing from Hidden Springs. You know, the one worth §495K.

...Why can't I have friends like that in real life?

Every single time someone in my legacy gets married, they receive another statue... Can't recall the name or price, but it's always the same one. Literally, always. This has been going on for five or six generations now. kinda creepy.

I was -just- talking about this yesterday with missroxor! I usually sell the useless stuff but my favorite gift was a food processor! It was like real life where you get something actually useful. Only strange thing is that it's gold (never have seen a gold food processor before but whatevs). Almost 2 generations down the line, that processor is still working and being utilized every day. :)

I believe this came with Generations. At least, I never had gifts before then.

If you have Generations, your Sim receives wedding gifts in the mail after getting married...you can also click on the mailbox and get the option to write thank you notes to everyone who sent you a gift. Your Sim will then sit at the table and jot off a bunch of thank you notes :)

My horse once sent a water trough. Seemed like a self-serving gift to me.

I got the write thank you notes option but never got any presents. I think an outdated party mod might have been the cause. I'll see if I get anything my next wedding now that I've updated the mod and hopefully added a new category for gifts to be received from.

The most expensive gift I remember was that aircraft statue worth 75,000$ and it was gifted to the newlyweds by the deceased mother of the groom. But usually, I don't know why, all my wedding couples get weather vanes, I mean it's like the trendiest wedding gift of all. Whatever bunch of crap they receive the weather vane is always there.

I got the write thank you notes option but never got any presents.

The presents should be in the family inventory. Maybe it's obvious, but I know that many people don't look there often, so I thought I mention it. ;)

I think my favorite gift was when my Sims got this poster advertising laundry detergent (CC, I use in it laundrymats).

Thank you, mister wild horse!

Never knew you could get wedding gifts, but I only got Generations a month or so ago. Guess I need to start marrying some fortune/celebrity-esque sims with friends so I don't have to cheat to reach their "Be worth 100k in net worth" LTWs

Best Gift ever : Katy Perry stage props (the watermelon and the banana).

Worst Gift ever : Toilet Paper roll.

Who knew that my Sim loves watermelon? He cannot stop looking at it every 1 Sim-hour. -_-

I wonder why EA allow for pets and wild animals to gift their sims? I mean, how and the world would a wild horse walk into a store and buy a shuffleboard table? Hilarious and ridiculous in my honest opinion.

I think the game just chooses someone random from the list of friends and it doesn't distinguish human friends from pets. Has anyone had a car give them something? LOL

What was great after receiving the rocket gift, the next day the wife also received her almost 100,000 $ royalty check from her writings. So right now they're sat at having about 285,000 in their household funds. This doesn't already include the 140,000+ plus it took to build the home they live in and the bar they own. My plan is to give each child about 50-60K each once they get married and move out. Right now they only have a daughter but I'm contemplating letting them have at least 3 kids, but I usually only allow 1 per generation, cause this money has to go somewhere.

I choose to interpret this quirky humour. Why shouldn't wild horses give shuffleboard tables if they want to! They probably use online vendors.

Since Showtime, I haven't received any wedding gifts. The message comes to say that gifts have been sent, but the family inventory contains only stage props. I thought that was the conflict, that the stage props somehow locked the wedding gifts out. If anyone finds a solution, I hope they post it somewhere.

I still let the sims write the thank you notes though. It's the thought that counts, and the poor senders shouldn't be snubbed just because the actual present was lost in the mail.

Hah :) Would be great if you were right, but I'm more inclined to just call this a bug. Pets are sims, so, with the addition of pets, any code that referenced sims had to be gated to exclude pets, if you didn't want it to apply. They got... MOST of it ;)
