View Full Version : Mood Meter and Wishes have Disappeared!

My Sims 3 game (running Late Night) downloaded a new update tonight. Everything seemed to be running just fine until I noticed that when I clicked on the sim panel, I couldn't see any of the mood meters. It clicks but nothing slides out. It's gone. I thought perhaps there was a glitch somewhere (hey, it happens!) so I restarted the game. Same thing again. No mood meters on any active sim. Other clickables in the game seemed to work just fine.

Thought maybe if I traveled or went somewhere it would fix its self. Found that when I left my home lot, the active sim didn't even show up on the menu, nothing was clickable and I didn't seem to be able to use the exit, save or save & quit options on the control panel.

Restarted the game several more times after rebooting the computer and still had this same problem.

Anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix for it?

I really think it's associated with the update that just downloaded tonight. I haven't had this problem prior and I just played the game the other day without issue. Haven't added any custom content or changed anything since the last time I played.

I've made some screen shots of what I'm talking about.

In game, I found that opening the fridge seems to make the mood meter come back however, I've found no work arounds for create a sim mode and the missing lifetime achievements.

I discussed this on live chat with EA games yesterday and was told to make sure all patches are updated (and they are) and so that was the extent of their help. If anyone else is experiencing this problem, please let me know. Would appreciate a fix rather than having to reinstall the game.

This sounds like an outdated memory mod.

Try doing the Game Problem FAQ (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Sims_3_Game_Problem).

Now that you mention that, I did add a memory mod a while back to keep so many scrap book items from piling up and slowing the game down HOWEVER, that's been working just fine for quite some time and even though I just removed that particular mod, it's still having the same problem. I'll take a look at the link above and see if I can work something out with that.

Thanks a bunch!

Ok, I'm back. I've tried several things with this game. I've removed ALL mods that have ever been installed, I've read the help link above and I've disabled all custom content in the game and my lifetime wishes are still not available on create-a-sim or in the game. As you know, it will not let you create a sim unless you pick a lifetime wish.

Is there any replacement files for the lifetime wishes going on the idea that perhaps this part of the game may have been corrupted somewhere along the lines?

You did all steps of the FAQ? No cc, new game? 100% vanilla? Not just disable it...
If yes, means the corruption is in the program files. Either the patch is incomplete or mess things up. If that is the case, only an uninstall+reinstall+repatch would fix it.

Yesterday I ended up getting a nasty virus on my system that resulted in HOURS of work for removal...anyhow, after that, we had several driver problems and ended up having to do a restore point so I decided that I'd go through, remove programs I was no longer using, etc. I completely removed TS3 and all of the EPs and I'm starting fresh doing an install right now of my game. Hopefully it will work right this time.

I'm back again with the same original problem of moodlets and wishes disappearing along with my active sim whenever they arrive to one of the three travel destinations in World Adventures. I'm beginning to think that the issue is linked somewhere with getting the axe from China and continued game play after that point because in both instances, that was about the point during the game when things began happening.

This time, I have done a completely fresh install of the games with the EPs in the order of release, patched them so that they're all updated and am using NO MODS whatsoever. The problem just happened again last night right out of the blue on arrival in France. No active sim, no wishes, no moodlets, no mood meters.

That being said, it seems as though it's a repeat problem that could be some sort of a glitch in the game....so, any further thoughts on this problem?

Are you using completely clean user files (step 3 of the faq)? No CC, no saved games, no old settings, etc.?

If you aren't, move your entire sims 3 directory (Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3) to the desktop and run the game (it'll generate a new one for you). Does this still occur for you then?

At this point, I haven't done that but I will certainly try it. I think I need it to make it generate new stuff. Anything would help at this point. I didn't try it because I had completely deleted the files from my system, done a fresh install, fresh patching, etc. No mods or any old settings. Everything fresh. It worked well until I got to the point in the game where 2 things happened:

1-Got axe
2-hit 300 memories in the scrapbook.

I deleted all 300 memories 1 by 1 and noticed that the game ran faster but now I am experiencing the error code 12 and getting .bad save files OR the game crashes. For this reason, I will attempt to generate new files...

Thanks for the suggestion.

Definitely try using completely fresh files.

Can you also post your specs (http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:System_Specs)?
