It's not quite as bad as Bridgeport, but it's pretty darned bad. I emptied out the town and it wasn't much better at all. It's almost unplayable. Is anyone else having this problem?

Well, the only lag I got was because I forgot to turn off Story Progression.

You emptied the town?

The gym is VERY badly designed. I had severe lag and around 10+ sims all routefailing around the gym. But once I added four more doors to the gym (in later games I've just taken down the walls under and surrounding the doors) and took down the fence around the property it cleared up. I had to reset everyone that was stuck there though.

I haven't had too much, but I use MC's Reset Everything when I load the game, and for every 30 (real life) minutes I play, I reset everything again. It's a little bit tedious, but I don't mind ^^;

It was unplayable for me, but it's not really a problem since I didn't really care for how it looked. I do love the new Rabbitholes (which is odd for me to say, as I generally hate rabbitholes.) I've been redoing Hidden Springs with the new Showtime rabbitholes (and adding in missing lot types from other expansions), that's been a time vampire so I haven't actually gotten to try out much of the expansion yet. What neighborhood is everyone else trying to play Showtime in?

I got awful awful AWFUL lag in Starlight Shores. I moved my family back to Appaloosa Plains. Since then, there has been less lag, although I still have some. It may relate to my cc though... I need to merge files again soon.

I haven't seen too much lag, but I've switched to running in windowed mode (my gfx card seems to handle it much better than full screen), and run in compatibility mode for Windows XP (it helped for older versions of the game; maybe it still does). I also use something called FPSLimiter (which can be found with a quick Google search), which limits the frame rate form skyrocketing to astronomical proportions. With all those things, and slightly lower settings, the game runs as close to smooth as I can hope for.

Hope that helps.

Same problem  . It was running great for a while and I loved the town, and then suddenly it started to freeze and glitch if any of my Sims ventured off their home lot. I just took them back to Sunset Valley and slapped in the Showtime lot types. It's ashame, Starlight Shores was a really nice town

The lots in Starlight Shores are poorly designed and that may be a cause for the lag. I went to every lot that I could edit and fixed the way objects are set in them. Most problems are with the gym, I still have a problem understanding why female sims want to go in the males bathroom to use the shower, but can't because the door blocks their route. Actually, I like the gym, just removed those lights out about the pool and tried to make the routes better in it.

Now I think the developers just threw their lots in the world and didn't test them to see if they were playable. I guess that is what the fans are for. :(

EDIT: I wanted to add the Karaoke bar venue was a problem with the Karaoke machine on a platform along with the performing stage. The performers can't start until the sims that walk on the stage to boo the Karaoke singers are finished. I just removed the platform for Karaoke to stop that.

My Starlight Shores did lag(every 2-5 min :wtf:), but I used NRaas MasterController to reset all object.
Now Starlight Shores lags occasionally, but not like it was lagging before. :D
If I remember correctly, with nraas, click city hall and nraas>master controller>town>reset everything

I'm using a custom world I designed myself.

I also use something called FPSLimiter

Ah, and I thought I was the only one who used that.

I still can't believe that EA decided not to have either a frame limiter or V-Sync option built-in.

As for Starlight Shores, I have not and will not use that world until someone like ellacharm3d comes along and fixes EA's fuck ups.

1) Download the FPSLimiter from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?ym4g3rugdyg

2) Extract the files to a folder on your desktop.

3) Double Click the file "FPS_Limiter_GUI.jar" and execute it.

4) Choose D3D9,and set the FPS to 30.

5) Click "search executable" and find the .exe that you use to run the game with. (Usually either TS3.exe or TS3W.exe).

6) Click "create bat"

7) Double click the .bat file to start the game. (Which will be found in the folder that you extracted the FPSLimiter to).

*You will use this .bat to start the game now. Do not use the launcher (unless installing mods or patches) and do not use any other shortcuts you may have for the TS3 or TS3W executable files; otherwise the FPSLimiter may not work.

On a side note, I highly recommend that anyone reading this post does this. By doing so, you will not only have less lag, but the game will put less stress on your computer (more specifically your GPU).

Even If I have expansions? I'll use TS3W from the base game?

Yes.

Even though you have the EP's installed, they can still properly function by using the original .exe for the base game. If you have updated to patch level 1.22 or higher, use TS3W.exe instead, if you haven't updated to 1.22 or higher use TS3.exe.

thanks for the fast reply. however, when I click "create bat" the application closes, and when I go to the directory where I extracted the fpslimiter, there is no ".bat" file

You may need to "Run as Admin". That usually solves most of these types of issues.

I added doors to the gym as well as removed gender doors because sims kept derping it up trying to use the other gender's door. I also deleted a few community lots I never use to lessen the lag of sims routefailing. I also got rid of all wild animal spawns using nraas register except for 5 unicorns, reset everything with master controller (minus my active family) at 12 midnight when I get in game, and my lag problems are pretty much resolved.

I've never had any lag at all in the Sims. Except for the occasional World Adventures lag when a Sim gets stuck somewhere and it causes the game to freeze repetitively until you un-stick them.

I do agree with people derping at the gym though. It was a pretty building but very poorly pathed.
