i downloaded all my sims games and expansion/stuff packs from EA Origins, but i have no idea how to get the game into windowed mode as i dont have any desktop icons and can only play the game through Origins.

Does anyone that plays the Sims 2 through EA Origins found a way to put it into windowed mode?

I really wanna start uploading my houses again and can't take any pics of my houses til i get it into windowed mode.

ANY help to fix this is much appreciated.

Interesting. There are two likely solutions I can think of:

Firstly, Origin may have an option to put the game into windowed mode. It could be in settings somewhere, or in the right-click menu for the game. As I recall, Steam allows you to edit the shortcut just like you normally would - Origin probably doesn't work exactly the same, but it may have an equivalent system, although brief research doesn't turn up where such a feature may be.

Secondly, you may be able to find the exes somewhere and create a shortcut on your desktop. Apparently, the exe files should be in C:/Program Files/Origin (or Program Files (x86)). Right click the exe, hit Create Shortcut, drag the shortcut to your desktop or wherever else, then set up windowed mode as you normally would.

Game Help:TS3 EADM Issues
If EA has not changed the Settings in any recent update since I captured that screenshot sometime ago, I believe the Install path applies for all games under Origin and not just for TS3?

If so, you can still navigate to that Install path and locate the Sims2EP??.exe for the appropriate pack, and tweak the shortcut to start in windowed mode as per usual. There's no need to use Origin to start the game, I would think?

I know that some Origin games, if started directly from the exe, will close immediately and launch Origin instead. I don't know whether or not that applies to Sims 2.

Does Origin have an INI file?

Have you tried <alt><enter> while the game is running?

The origins game files only actually has a pic of the icon for the game, not the game itself.

Look for a file in the game installation folder with a file extension of INI. It will usually be a text file which can be modified to change aspects of the program.

You'll probably have to find the folder which actually contains the game EXE.

I'm just looking on the internet for suggestions about how to run Origin games in a window. Can't hurt to experiment a bit.

Having just reinstalled Double Deluxe through (terrible, awful) Origin, I can confirm that you can bypass the launcher and find the files in C: (or wherever you keep your programs). The default location, at least for me, was under C:/Program Files (x86)/EA GAMES/latest EP/TSBin and then find the exe there. Worked for me!
