Yesterday I took a trip to Gamestop, Walmart, Target, and Toys R Us and none of them were selling any Sims 2 games :( I really want to add the University expansion pack to my collection, and there's no where to buy it  :!: I went on Amazon, but to buy a NEW University expansion pack ranges from 30-50 bucks. Used ones are $10, but you just don't know, maybe it has a bunch of scratches? Anyone know where I could buy NEW Sims 2 Expansion packs for reasonable prices, like 10-20 dollars? :help:

I bought every sims 2 ep and sp used at amazon. They were all in great condition, and I still use them today. Just make sure they include the manual because it contains the product key. You can't install the game without it.

Er, it's only $10 on Amazon right now for a new disc.

I have bought a few EPs used on Amazon. One of them (UNI) was so scratched I couldn't install it. But the seller sent out a replacement immediately. YMMV, it's going to be easier dealing with a company with a large inventory than with an individual. I was able to buy several EPs new, even now.

Oh no! Not another "Where can i find sims 2 EPs and SPs?" thread. Where are the mods and admins? Please create a sticky thread on where you can buy Sims 2 EPs and SPs.

It's probably because university was released in what? 2005? Most stores stock TS3 stuff because...that is what is recent. I mean, I see Fallout on the shelves still, but that's a different story.

I never paid for my copy, but that is another story. *cough*

How about buying the collection packs?

I'm not seeing the collection packs in the stores anymore, either.

I bought my copy of Apartment Life in a local supermarket about a year ago, then the Best of Business collection at Best Buy a few months after that. I check the electronics section of the supermarket every so often while grocery shopping in the hope that a new collection featuring Bon Voyage, Glamour Life, Freetime, or Seasons is released (still hoping, no luck yet), and I've noticed that they stopped selling Double Deluxe and Apartment Life as well.

The only Sims 2 game most stores sell anymore is Life Stories. You'll have to get it from either eBay, Amazon, or a used game store. And I second making a sticky of where we can buy the games :----)

Don't worry about the condition. If you can't find one in a local used book/game/media store, get a reputable online seller and only buy copies that say they come with the booklet, which contains your product key. All but one of mine were bought used, and I haven't had a problem.

They can be a PITA if you want to use hacks or game tools like SimPE.

The game is almost 10 years old with the last SP or EP released in what 2007-2008? It was bound to happen.

Maybe EA and or Maxis (for us Mac people too) will bundle the game and all ep's and SP's in one mega (like sims 1 complete) multi DVD pack for $60-$70.

Seeing as there is precedent for this in TS1 I don't see it as far fetched.

They have all of them in stores here. Some expansions are more expensive than the TS3 ones!

That's because Sims 2 is much more valuable than Sims 3. :P

The last time I saw a TS2 expansion pack being sold was years ago. I've only seen some themed collections, with 2 eps and 2 sps.

I noticed this last year when I had to go to 3 stores to find Sims 3 Pets, none of them had any Sims 2 games. I was kind of hoping to get Freetime or some others. I used to hope they would release all the packs together in one big collection too (which is why i hesitated to buy some of the EPs by themselves when they still had them), but that's looking unlikely by now... They made those smaller collections instead, and it only took a year after Sims 2 first came out for them to make the Sims 1 complete collection, but it's been almost 3 years since Sims 3 came out

I've noticed that large retail stores around my area don't seem to carry any copies of individual EPs or SPs too. Just only the bundle packs. Which are, more or less, a disaster waiting to happen.

Thank goodness for sites like amazon though.

I just bought the whole digital download set (minus the Pets collection) off of Origins two weeks ago. I haven't noticed any problem with mods and my collection versions, except for 1 out of some-30 to 50 I've downloaded so far. (That one might have been a not-so-great mod, but I was able to find a better one elsewhere.)

I've been playing the Sims 3 ever since it came out, but I wanted to pick up all of the Sims 2 EPs I hadn't tried...like Seasons, OFB, Freetime, etc. The few disks I had years ago were Mac only, but they are lost and wouldn't work on my current machine even if I did find them.

I have *all* the collection packs and I only have a few issues with Inteen, but not with SimPE. Not that I use Inteen a lot anyway...I learned how to make a mod or two that has what I want from Inteen without installing the whole thing.

Yep, SimPE works fine here too. And I've never really been interested in Inteen, and so I haven't tried it with my set-up.

I think from this point on, it's going to be more tricky to find the regular EPs and not the Collections. Some of them are on Amazon, and sites like that, but they are in limited numbers. Since I was starting from scratch, I chose the collections because it was more cost-effective. I am just glad I haven't run into any problems I've seen people warn about.

I have the Fun with Pets collection, and have not had any problems with mods. Each pack installed separately into its own folder (EP4, SP1, etc). Any problems people might have with that one could be related to M&G, because it uses the AL engine, but mods designed for AL still might not work without AL installed. Also, it has a special Fun with Pets exe, but I happened to acquire an alternate exe to use with M&G and it works fine.

It was a great deal on Amazon, too, only $1 more than Pets alone.

I think it's most likely that problems with combination packs happen with base game combos, like Double Deluxe. I've only heard of problems with those ones, possibly because of changes to the base game code (I'm no programmer so I can't confirm that).

Gamestop does sell Sims 2. But just online, not in stores. However, going Amazon is a great way too. I ended up getting most of my EPs from there, actually. I did like new, and they came like in two days. I was very happy, because I am loving the Sims 2, I got :D

But yeah, try online with Gamestop. Sadly, they have the collection packs. Like:

Sims 2 Pets Collection
Sims 2 Open For Business Collection

But the best part of the Collections, is you do get all of the stuff packs. Each of them come with two different Stuff packs :)

It's the same in the UK. In my town centre there isn't a single shop selling the base game anymore, and there are a few shops (GAME, Gamestop and HMV) that sell a couple of expansion packs. It really is a bit depressing.

You should visit the stores in my area. They still have individual EPs and SPs, and some are actually discounted which is very rare. There are no bundle packs though, guess it didn't sell too well so they didn't bother.

I've always found charity shops to be pretty good for picking up the games. I've seen the base game in my local Sue Ryder shop and most of the expansions in CEX. They pop up in Cash Converters quite often too. At this point, I think buyers are just going to have to accept that they're going to have far more luck finding it if they stop hunting for brand new games and settle for second hand.

When all else fails and you would rather stay home than run from store to store all day check online. I know its not ideal to have to sit and wait for something you bought to come in the mail (I myself want an item immediately the moment I have bought it) But you can almost always find something online that you can't find in stores. I recommend Bonanza, it is the ebay alternative and a wonderful community. There is one seller in particular that I know of that keeps all the expansions in stock and ships in 1-2 days of purchase. I just bought Seasons from them today for $16 (that's with shipping) brand new, if anyone wants the link to their booth let me know.

I came across this a year ago looking for Nightlife- just on its own, I didn't want any extras. I had to settle for getting Double Deluxe, which had no warning about screwing up my rewritable disc drive [drm] and in the end didn't work anyway because it was incompatible [again, no warning]. So whatever you do, keep your eyes open.

Go to ebay, there's loads on there, I had no trouble at all buying my games and they were brand new, still in the shrink wrap. Reasonable prices aswell, although I'm in the UK.

You can check Origin or EA.com to see if they have a University download - they still have some of the older expansions (not all of them though). I bought Glamour Life and Bon Voyage through EA's website (they are both game downloads) - can't remember how much they were but I know they didn't cost more than maybe $20 each. I bought them last year.

Just this year, I've noticed every single Sims 2 game end up at a thrift store I go to. They're sold for $2-$4. And they are ALWAYS there. As time passes more show up. I've boughten a lot even if I had the game because the boxes were in better condition.

Honestly this saddens me. I remember when I spent $20-$40 on one expansion pack :/.

But I think the best decision is Ebay for new expansions. I haven't checked resently but I think here the Targets still sell new games. But that doesn't help you. lol

Um no. It's because as games become older they become "more valuable" I looked online for the first three Spyro the dragon games for Playstation and they range from $60-$89.

IRT

I got a used copy of Mansion and Garden stuff off of ebay and it works great. It's a UK version and works fine with my US copies.

I wanted an extra copy of Seasons, since that is my last EP of Sims 2 that did not come with that nasty Securom. I wanted an extra copy because I use the Seasons I have so much to loadup my game, I was just so afraid that maybe something would happen where it will not be able to play.

So I went on "Amazon" to get another extra copy of Seasons, I got this extra copy from the best seller that had a very high percent ( althose there was others sellers as well )of his items being excellent.

So now I have my extra copy of Seasons for those just incase moments, What I found kind of funny was that I put the new extra copy into my CD player and my game started up with everything there as I left it, I was so surprise to find this out.

I was thinking I would have to enter a new key since it was a different copy of Seasons, but NO it just started the game like it was my first copy of Seasons
So I put my extra copy of Seasons away, for just incase something happen to my first copy of Seasons that I purchase, so long ago I just want to be better safe than sorry.

I think "Amazon" is the way to go just try to pick the best sellers and be sure that all that goes with the Ep is included from the seller.
