flakey sims

Has anyone ever had a problem with flakey Sims (Sims who say they're coming over and never showing up /Sims who agree to go to a community lot with you and then cancel later)? My at Sim met a great guy at a community lot and are best friends and every time she invites him over he never shows. Is this a trait or a glitch or...?
I also went into map view and I couldn't find his home anywhere.

Sounds like he's a homeless sim or an NPC who lives offworld.

I've sometimes had a similar glitch where ranked sims won't turn up for chess matches. Resetting the sim usually fixes this, so perhaps it will work in your case.

Type:
resetsim [firstname] [lastname]
into the cheat console, where firstname lastname is the name of the sim you want to invite.

Remember though that if the sim has a job or is assigned to a bar or cash register or other NPC role, he won't attend during work hours.

Sims almost never show up when I invite them over; I get around it by inviting them for a party. They almost always show up then (:

Turns out he actually is on the map, his dad just has a different last name than him so it shows up as Jeffers. I did the resetsim thing just in case he was close to dying or something (every time I see him he's whining about being hungry/sleepy) and he was stuck somewhere and I used mastercontroller to force him to come over.
I'm just gonna assume he was stuck cause now every time I invite him over he shows up. Problem solved :--)

I've had plenty of sims who would agree to go out with my sim and then end up saying that "something came up." Even if I tried inviting them again they would say the same thing. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be realistic, but crap like this makes it such a chore just to get my sims to make friends.
