Where or where did I go wrong?

Alright, I finally built an amazing house that I can actually be proud of. Literally I built my grandparents house. Such an amazing piece, and plus my grandfather built everything on the inside, cabinets, you name it, he built it. But anyway, they have a basement, and yes I finally built a basement, that came out wonderful, only one problem. I can't put anything down there. For I get this simple irritating message:

"Ceiling too low"

So, my question is this, do I need to put move objects on? Or is there a simple way to fix this? Because I would love to finish this house, took me well over three hours to get it just right. Or well, right enough in game standards.

Please help :(

EDIT: Please do not direct me to a tutorial, I've read it a bagillion and half times. Still made no sense too me, so I took it in my own way to do it myself. :) Thank you. And I hope that statement wasn't rude. I just can't do tutorials they confuse the crap out of me, even writing down word for word. I am still scratching my head. *ashamed*

This means you didn't lower the ground enough. You have to remake the basement.

If I'm not mistaken, you have to lower the ground by 12 clicks to be able to put walls in the basement.

Well now its saying can't place top landing :(

Each livable level must be 16 clicks. Since a foundation is normally 4 clicks above the ground, you must lower the ground by 12 clicks to create a 16-click basement.

However, I wonder whether there's a separate issue? Did you build the basement under a foundation? If so, you might want to remove the entire foundation, except for 1 tile wide around the outside. If the basement is 16 clicks high but you're still getting the error, removing the foundation in the center of the house may solve your problem.

I've made the house, and they have a basement. I love how the house turned out :) Its just beautiful, and looks like my grandparents house ^.^ Hehehee

I think an easier method to track how deep a basement is than "clicks," is to simply place four modular stairs into the ground where you want your basement. That should be the right level.

Four stairs? Hmm, I'll keep that in mind the next time I do a basement, I mean holy crap, that basement took me an hour just to figure it out. And why I was being so lame. Therefore, my house took me over 4 hours to get done, but well worth the effort :D

I thought I would show you the work that took me four hours. Now the reason why it took me four hours? Is because everything had to be positioned right. I will apologize in advance some of the pictures aren't that good in quality. But I will tell you what is in each room. Let us begin :D

In this picture is the first floor, or the floor above the basement, going from left to right, you will see the bedrooms in the back, I know the one in the top left corner is cut off, but in the one that is cut off there is a bed, a chair, a dresser and computer. Working downward you will see the kitchen and bathroom. Then the living room/dining room.

This here is the basement. Yes, this process took me an hour just to get it right, and too make the stairs so epically long to where the living room has this massive hole in the floor.

This is the second floor, with a master bedroom, and a master bathroom. Yes, that huge butt TV is on a stage, because in my grandparents house, there is a TV that is on top of what appears to be a stage. But this top floor is where my grandparents room is :)

In this picture, you will see a far shot of the inner and outside of the house. This you can see what the porch looks like, and inside you can see the living room, and all that jazz just from a distance.

And here is an outside view of the backyard. Yeah, your like wait...That is the front...Actually I found out something interesting, that my grandmother once told me.

"The front door leads into the living room, where the back door leads into the kitchen."

I watched some show on the HGTV and sure enough a designer was telling the owners, you are coming in the back door, because it leads to the kitchen :)

And finally the view from the front yard :) Yeah, I know it seems backwards. But sadly, its not o.O

But yes this is the small house that literally took me four hours to complete. I hope that all of you enjoyed it :)

I know its not the best looking house, but that is how close I could get to my grandparents house with a game. I really love the dedication my grandfather put in that house. It amazes me every time I walk in. Thinking: My grandfather built this with his hands.

And so I thought I would put a lot of dedication of remaking this for my Sims. :)

Looks good. :) 4 hours isn't that bad, It takes me a lot longer because I'm always changing stuff as I build.

Thank you, joandsarah77. It would have taken a lot longer. But that darn basement, I swear. The house took well over three hours itself. And then about another hour and a half for the stupid basement. Once I got it, bam, it was done. Lol. Took less than five minutes to put all of the stuff in the basement. And I was done :)
