View Full Version : A Couple Of Questions

Hi again
I have a couple of questions:
1) How do you use custom music in the game? I removed the pre-installed custom music from the folder and put some of my own music in there, but every time I launch the game it somehow re-installs the default custom music and totally ignores mine.
2) I've just bought the Showtime Expansion pack and installed from the disc. My previous two purchased Expansion packs have been bought as a direct download from Origin and I was able to run the game without the disc being present. Having now purchased Showtime it won't let me run the game without the disc being present. Is there anyway I can play the game without having to keep the disc in the drive?
Thanks in advance
Martin

1) Are you clicking on custom music on the stereo? Sorry to ask a stupid question i just checking if you listening to the right station :)
2) I'm not sure if this question comes under Posting Guidelines No-CD Cracks so i won't answer that one sorry.

1) Yes, definitely
2) Understood, but it's not really a No-CD crack I'm after is it? All my software is 100% legal, either bought from shops or downloaded from Origin, so it just seems a bit unfair that suddenly I have to keep the disc in, if I'd have downloaded Showtime from Origin I wouldn't need to. I was wondering if there was something I could do since it's all legal.

Not sure what to suggest with the custom music, maybe someone else will have an idea on what to do.
Here's the link (http://nraas.wikispaces.com/NoCD+Phase+One) to twallan's no cd mod.

You can register the ShowTime game key in Origin, that will make it possible to d/l a digital copy of it, so all of your games are digital ones.
You most likely have to reinstall ShowTime with the digital copy though for it to not require the disk.

Thanks, so I'm not doing anything wrong with the Custom music? I am supposed to just copy my stuff in to the custom music folder right?

Not sure about custom music since I never play with my sound on. It gets annoying since hubby plays the same game with his sound on LOUD!!
As someone already suggested, you can download the digital copy of the game at Origin once you've registered it at the official site, then you can start up the game without ever using the CD. Twallan's is another alternative, however if you decide you don't want to use Twallan's No-CD hack, you can start up your game with the disc, then once you get into the main menu, you can take it out.

I worked out how to stop ea's custom music from reinstalling itself after you've either deleted it or moved it.
Note: You might need to be logged in as administrator to be able to do this. Also this is done with windows so for mac users it might be different.
1) Firstly delete ea's music from the custom music folder in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Custom Music. If you think you'll want to use ea's music again in the future then move the music to somewhere else on your computer instead of deleting the music.
2) Next make sure your music is mp3 format and put your music in the same custom folder as above. I'm not sure what formats the stereos can play but as mp3 worked for me i'm suggesting that format.
3) Now to stop ea's custom music from coming back after you've either deleted it or moved it. You'll need to delete the music in the custom music folder located in your main hard drive (usually the C: Drive) i've put the path below under the note.
Note: If you don't have Program Files (x86) in your main hard drive then go into Program Files instead. It should still be the same path and the only difference should be Program Files instead of Program Files (x86).
Main hard drive C:/Program Files (x86)/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/GameData/Shared/NonPackaged/CustomMusic and delete all ea's music in that folder. You might need administrator permission to be able to delete the music.
Once you've successfully deleted the music in the custom folder in your main hard drive you can close all the windows and boot up your sims 3 game. If it works you shouldn't have ea's custom music come back and you'll be able to just have your own music on the custom music channel on the stereo.

Thanks, that worked great, didn't realise there was a second music folder
