When I had continual crashing with a certain sim (and I tried taking out all CC first) ; I had to uninstall the entire game and reinstall it. Hope someone comes on here with a better solution, but whatever glitch was going on --that drastic procedure worked for me.

First try moving them to a different lot. That will tell you whether the problem is the family or the lot.

Also, try the rest of the game problem FAQ. There's more to it than removing the Downloads folder. Removing saved sims and dumping caches are both things that have worked for me (or seemed to, anyway).

Can't you move the file back where it belongs? Also, why are you following a Sims 3 tutorial to deal with a Sims2 problem?

Deep breaths and keep calm. Have some chocolate. It's easy and cheap to re-buy the base game used online if worst comes to worst, but it doesn't have to come to that.

You don't have to lose all your towns, whatever happens. Back up their neighborhood folders now, ditto your downloads, and put them in a safe place. An exterior data storage location, for choice.

I can't help you with the rest of it because I don't understand the sentence; however, go back to the Help section and look under Uninstall/Reinstall problems. The information that you need might be there and it might not be obvious. And if you decide to make a Help Forum query, compose it with care and full punctuation, to maximize the reader's ability to understand exactly what you did so they can recognize the problem.

While waiting for a response, go to Amazon, e-bay, and such places and do a search for your missing discs. You ought to have them anyway in case your hard drive crashes or you voluntarily upgrade your computer, finding out how much they're going for won't commit you to anything, and it will keep you occupied so you don't fret as much.

It's a procedure that works with a number of programmes, it's just that TS3 is being used there.

I fixed the file issue and was able to place it back in to file where it belonged
I couldn't move the family out of the lot because every time it loaded up it crashed

That's creepy.. I remember that happened to me once too. It happened to Jessica Peterson who lives in an apartment. Apartment, get it?? A place where multiple families can live!!! I mean, I also had another family who live in the same apartment. I moved her out of her apartment, but she still appeared when I played that family. More annoyingly, she never died! I merged her with the Contender family I guess, and the rest is history (seriously, I forgot what else happened). That was the last thing I did until I deleted that hood and started over.

If you mean a "ghost double" continued to appear in the apartment building after you moved her out, when you play another family in a different apartment in the same building, that's a standard glitch and can be solved by deleting her in "Move objects." Although the sim in the family bin or the new household you merged her into gets memories of the bad things that happen to her when she's in the building because nothing you can do will make her use a bathroom or eat, nothing happens to the real sim's real motives.

It's annoying, but as glitches go it's minor and has no long-term consequences.

Do you mean that the lot crashes even when you single-click on it to move the family to the family bin, dwn2ridehtchck1? You don't need to enter the lot to move the entire family.

You don't need to load the lot to move the family out, you can do that from the neighbourhood screen. Another option is to go to another household, and use something like the SimBlender to teleport the glitched household over. If they crash upon teleporting, the family is probably broken, if they're fine, move them out to the sim bin.

Final solution - you say it's the Aspir family? The ones that live in Desiderata Valley? If they're completely borked, can't get to them, no hope at all... reset the hood. (http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/sims-2/280652-how-reset-your-neighbourhoods.html) You will lose all your gameplay for every family, but they should then be fixed. If you choose to do that, you might want to grab some cleaned up versions. (http://meetme2theriver.livejournal.com/63030.html)

Good luck!

ETA: Posted the wrong clean neighbourhood links, whoops.

Well, that happened several times, and the last time was that I banished a stuck neighbor with teleporter, which make her apartment empty and no townie rented it, making only 3 residents in that apartment. I'm planning to fill it with a playable family, but I'll keep that in mind though. Thanks for the tips!

This exact thing has happened to me with the Goth Family. I had moved them out of one neighborhood and into Strangetown, and had played them for a long time without error.

When I started a Business for Cassandra, the employees' list had foreign/Vacation characters that came to work for me. One of them was nice enough that I decided to make the two fall in love (well, that and I wanted to get my Sims to learn "Bow" easily). After dissolving the business and having the Vacation character quit his job and join the Goth household, I ultimately got the two engaged and chose "Find Own Place". I moved Cassandra and her fiance out, without error.

When I went to the Neighborhood view, THE GAME CRASHED WHEN I CLICKED THE FAMILY BIN. I was angered, and went into Sim PE. I successfully added Cassandra and her fiance back into the lot they moved out of. Loading that without hindrance, I tried a second time and got the same results! The game crashes when I load the Family Bin.
-but when the Family Bin DOESN'T have these two in it, IT LOADS JUST FINE.

For the likes of me, I don't know why!!

It's simple, you corrupted both Pleantview and Strangetown. Never move sims between hoods. Doesn't matter that EA provided a nice handy tool to do so, that tool shreds sim files, corrupts the hoods with the end result your hood can become unplayable not just the family bin. If you want a sim from one hood to be in another you need to download a mega hood, or download a copy of the sim or extract, clone and remake them in the other hood.

My game used to crash constantly. After I removed downloads I went through the downloads and first added back all the stuff from websites I trust (Such as MTS)
Then I added stuff I really, really wanted in my game. My game works perfectly now, except my first hood Simstown (Creative name, yes I know haha) which is because I did everything you're not supposed to do. Moved families from town to town a million times, deleted Sims from the Family Bin, you get the idea. But the errors in that hood are nothing really important, so I continue to play it.
Besides how could I not play with my Piccolo family? I love that town because my sisters also have their families in it, so things change, sims get older, new ones arrive, and it's just cool how the world progresses and I don't even have to do it.
