failed to find the directx graphics card

When I click on the startup up for sims2 freetime I get the error message failed to find ant diretc9. graphics adaptor in this symptom. Please make sure you have the a directx graphics adaptor. The program will now terminate.

OK, the word "graphics" is in that error, so the next step is to see whether your graphics card has failed or if it's just the drivers that have gotten bad. (Obviously you are hoping it's the drivers. You can download new ones for free. If it's the card, you will need to buy a new one. And if you had integrated graphics, it might have killed something else in the motherboard when it went.)

I'm not a techie, but I would download new drivers for your card. If that doesn't help, I would post in the technical issues section. But at that point it does sound like it is probably the whole card that has died.
