Yes, I've already read the FAQ but I didn't find anything in there that fit my situation.

I had The Sims 2 installed on my laptop for a long time with tons of downloads. I was planning on getting University so I 'fixed' all my downloads so they'd be EP ready. I didn't get Uni though and ended up uninstalling the original game cause I was tired of playing.

Anyway, I felt like getting back into in so installed the game on my mums laptop (my cd rom doesn't work so I couldn't do it on mine) but didn't feel like downloading all this stuff again.
So I transfered all my old downloads from my computers to hers, hoping it'd work.. buuut it didn't. Nothing will show up even though it's all in the right folder (not subfolders) and all end in .package.

Is this because I transfered them or because once you EP ready a file it won't work in the original game or what?

I don't know a lot about downloads so this is just a suggestion i've heard a few times... do you have the 'enable custom content' box ticked in the game?
Also, you may want to double check it's in the right folder on the profile you're logged on as. Sometimes when people transfer across computers they transfer to the profile name of the old computer.

When you fixed your downloads, did you also fix your Body Shop and Home Crafter items, too? If so, those items will automatically work with ALL expansion packs as they were made with Maxis tools. I hope you made a back up of everything before you started fixing things.

I think I did, yeah. :( Is that what caused them not to work with the original game? If so, is there a way to reverse this?

I didn't make backups. :Slap: @myself

EEEP! Sorry there is no way to reverse the fix unless you made a back up before running them through SimPE. SimPE does make backups for you, unless you turned that off, too. :(

Okay, thanks for your help. :) I'm just gonna go through all the old sites I used to go to and download again.

Wish me luck, I'll need it trying to find 3500 specific files. LOL :P

If you want to attempt reverting your pc back to a date before you did the update (i.e. system restore) , you can do that, but I highly recommend you don't. I've had experience helping people through that (as I worked for a PC manufacturer) and it never ends up pretty and you may end up having to redo Windows altogether. Good luck! :D
