Um, what's the maximum number of Sims that can live in a neighborhood? I'm trying to create a neighborhood that correlates statistically with the world as far as race, gender and population are concerned.

The only limit is to how much your PC can handle. Some simmers games act up after 500 characters, and some have 3000 I've heard with no problem. REmember Townies count as characters also.

What determines what the PC can handle? Memory?

I don't think there's a theoretical top limit to how many sims you can have in a neighbourhood, but the safe top limit before you begin to get errors is around 800. That may sound a lot but if you have three colleges to a neighbourhood, the townies alone that these generate begin to mount up considerably. Performance wise, you would probably notice an increased time for loading a neighbourhood if you had a lot of Sims, and memory, processor speed and the condition of your whole system would impact on that. See JMPescado's forum (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php?topic=158.0) for more information- and fixes- for the errors caused by large populations (and remember- dead people still count as part of the population!)
