View Full Version : Low Numbers of People Downtown

I have next to NO people when I go to a nightclub or restaurant or something downtown. I could probably count 9 or 10, counting the staff.

I have a good video card (GeForce 6600 GT) (I heard somewhere that the default visiting Sims number was determined by video card), I have Max Number of Visiting Sims set to 50 (via startup) (and I know this works because I can throw parties of 50), I just don't understand the problem.

Please help if you know--it's really annoying to go to the Hub and see two people on the dancefloor, two upstairs, and the restaurant staff. O.o

PS: I'm not sure if this is Technical or Gameplay, so I put it in Game Play. Please change it if it's wrong. :)

Hi Kato, I have not heard about the visiting sims default being determinned by your graphics card. I only have fx5200 and I have had at least 15 sims in two downtown locations. I have been very suprised by how well my system has handled play so far. I have another computer to get a copy for, and now I am anxious to try it. From reading various posts it seems there is a wide possibility of what to expect. I went to a club thinking that would be packed, and only 5 or 6 including 3 staff. So who knows?

I'm not having many people on my lots either (GeForce TI4200 if it's got something to do with video card) - but I usually get a couple of people there (around 5). I did get invited to an outing though and there was us and staff only...

I'm pretty sure it may be determined by video card and TS2 may be reading my card wrong, it told me (before I made the startup file) that I could invite...I think two people? to my graduation.

EDIT: Oh and thanks for your quick responses. ;)

Try updating your drivers on your graphics cards.

Also I've read alot of posts by people saying that their graphic settings and the # of visiting sims was reset after they installed NL. I don't know if the "visiting sims" would effect the number of people you get downtown, but if you "tweaked" them by editing the file, you may want to try that again. Have you thrown parties at the house since you installed NL? If not, try to throw one and see how many people show up compared to how many people you used to have before NL.

I also noticed only a few people on some of the downtown lots. maybe 5 tops. I built a custom made club, with all of the goodies I could cram in and it was loaded with people. Guess it may depend on what you have on the lot too.

Drivers are fairly recent and updating them is a pain (something always screws up when I do). I'm pretty sure recent version is 7.7, I have 6.6.

I have thrown parties (with the 50 limit in place) since Nightlife, in fact I first made the startup file AFTER the Nightlife installation.

I had a similar problem in University. I raised the Max of Visiting Sims and it seems to have fixed, though most of them were crowded around that damned Myshuno thing. Ugh.

Anyway--I will try a custom club. I'm not exactly a builder, but I'll download something interesting from the exchange and see what's up.

Thanks again,

I don't think its just the video. NL may use different equations, etc., to determine numbers.

Sad to report that a number of custom lots (all nice ones, a diner, a fancy restaurant, a card shack, and a club, I believe) had no effect on the number of Sims, and more of the default ones I tried (Like the Museum--) have ever-dwindling numbers (counted 5 at the Museum).

Hmmm...
