After some amount of fudging around I came up with some transparent floor tiles that are Homecrafters Plus compatible. I made clear, red, blue and green versions. You'll find that the clear ones are the least strange looking in the game because when shadows fall on partially transparent tiles, the shadowed part becomes completely transparent... meaning any color that was in the tile disappears. Please let me know if you have any trouble with these.
The 5th item in the zip file as a frost-covered partially transparent tile. I thought some of you might like it. However it DOES break compatibility with Homecrafters Plus. If you do not remove this tile from your downloads before you try to create or edit a floor tile in HCP, the program will crash. I'm still trying to correct this and of course I'll share any improvement I can make with you. But I thought some might like it for Christmas. It does look pretty cool in the game.
As far as I can tell so far, reflectivity and shine do not work on floor tiles at all. Applying the regular mirror reflection material to floor tiles gives a very freaky effect... it reflects your ground cover material, and the reflection moves as the camera does. It gives the effect of an extremely-well camoflaged house and makes me nauseous. I did not include it in this package. There are new setting for reflectivity in wall packages, though, so I'll keep experimenting.
EDIT: If you put any of these directly on the ground level, you'll get blue-tinted bright colors and bright blue shadows. It's ugly. They are meant to be placed at least on a foundation.
EDIT by MTS2 Staff: If you are interested in these transparent tiles, you might want to check the "Double-Sided" (i.e. visible from underneath, too) transparent tiles - downloadable from Post #126 - that also don't crash HomeCrafter.

Hi all,
This's a doubly-sided version of Rgiles' transparent tiles as an addition to this thread.
Users can choose which version to use.
What I did:
1. I altered a setting to make them doubly-sided.
2. I re-sorted or altered the frost tile settings. Back to the days, such sorting wasn't easily done or considered necessary due to insufficient amount of knowledge about that. I did this just as an improvement hopefully.
Differeces:
1. this set are doubly-sided, and that means these tiles can be ceiling tiles as well. They're "bottomful".:D
2. the frost tile has been fixed to be HCP-friendly at least true in the base game configuration. UNI and NL with HCP are reported working well.
Similarities:
1. similar file sizes
2. same guid IDs
Limitations:
1. use either set due to the same guid ID.
How to choose:
1. the doubly-sided version will take about twice amount of system resources the singly-sided version needs to run, so users with not much system resources may try the singly-sided one first to see the hardware can afford that first before trying the doubly-sided version.
2. the singly-sided version will remain for users with fewer system resources.
Ooooh!!
This is very cool, it goes ESPECIALLY well with Numenor's seamless wall-windows!
AHH!!
Which will be my first upload... *cackles*

Thanks these are awesome, I built a house that is entirly Greenhouse walls in the hopes of watching my one sim turn into a plant sim. So for half of the second floor these tiles look great and really give that greenhouse effect. The other half of the house is open so trees can grow through to the second floor. Thanks alot.

Hi, I'm Salix Tree from Parsimonious.
(I couldn't send you a private message, your mailbox is full!)
I recently made a house which uses your transparent floor tiles. The floor looks really cool!
I'd like your permission please, to be allowed to include your floor in my lot, to be available for dowloads on Parsimonious. Credit is always given.
... waiting eagerly for your reply.
Cheers,
SalixTree
The wonder is that we can see these trees and not wonder more.

it says RGiles hasn't been active for almost 20 months, and I kinda assume he's not back any sooner...
It's been a very long time of practice to link back to this thread and give credits back to Rgiles for his transparent tiles in cases of lot uploads...
So, I'd assume one can carry on this common practice for Rgiles' tiles...
The reason for the blue tint on these floor tiles on ground, is because the sims 2 3D world's background is blue, as a sky. The floor, being on the ground, acts as a kind of window to this background. This is why it is blue when on the ground.
very good! i see this floor in a house and i love it! now i can get it without the big enormous house! but thi house was beautifull and wonderfull and all that, but is is enormous and big!
I FOUND IT! It is under mirrors... And you put it over any floor tile. It is reflective but not to the point of a mirror. But is mainly used for screenshots as it slows down the game considerably. Apparently it needs an expansion pack but I am not sure. Hope this helps some of your simmers.
Hello RGiles,
What do i do with my floors once i've unzipped them? The recomended program to use was SimPE and i don't know how to use that so i was just wondering if there was anyway to immediately load them into the game?
And just a note of thanks for your stealth stairs tutorial on the sims2 website exchange!!

Uh, you don't do anything. Just put the unzipped file in Documents/EA Games/ Sims 2/ Downloads. If the file isn't there, create it. That's it.
1. Download: Click the download link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.
2. Extract: Use WinRAR (Windows) or Stuffit (Mac) to extract the .package file(s) from the .rar or .zip file(s).
3. Place in Downloads Folder: Cut and paste the .package file(s) into your Downloads folder:
Windows XP: Documents and Settings\(Current User Account)\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\
Windows Vista: Users\(Current User Account)\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\
Mac: Users\(Current User Account)\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\
4. CEP Required: The CEP is necessary for this download to work. Make sure that you have the newest version of the CEP installed. Get it here: The Official CEP Download.
