Romantic Reputation Recombobulator - V2.1.1 (updated 3 March 13)

Anyone who has played Generations has probably ran into the Romantic Reputation system by now. That girl your Sim danced with at Prom, way before he met his current partner, remember her? Well your current partner is going to accuse you of cheating on her, and then tank your relationship by -90.

Obviously the system is broken, so here is an early attempt to correct the problem.

Changelog -
  • 03/03/2013 - FINALLY updated to make this mod fully seasons compatible.
  • 3/7/2011 - V2.1 released. Turns out that Married Sim's still get accused by their "other Sim" on a regular basis, so I have fixed that. Also eased up a little, as V2 was a bit too "free and easy" on cheating, and Sim's were getting away with murder (figuratively) when not married. Hopefully this new version will strike a nice balance. See notes below for changes.
  • 21/6/2011 - This Mod is now incompatible with EGC's Jealousy settings when set to "Level 0" (no jealousy at all) as this performs the same function as "KillAll" Level 1, (TS2 style jealousy) seems to be compatible with RRRv2. (haven't checked the others)
  • 19/6/2011 RRR V2 released. While the first version merely reduces the problem, or completely kills it, V2 is my first attempt to actually fix the system. Personally, I like the idea of a Romantic Rep system, I just disagree with the implementation. V2 is now declared stable, as I have had no negative feedback on it. All feedback is appreciated.

Notes: (For an indepth analysis of how the game "scores" cheating, see here: http://www.modthesims.info/showpost...85&postcount=70 )
V2.1 (only changes from V2 are listed)
  • Chances of being accused for Level 2 and Level 3 has now been changed to 20% across the board. Level 1 romances are still at 0. Should stop married Sims from getting RepRaped as soon as they go to visit the Sim they are cheating on their spouses with, as well as making it a little more difficult to keep extra-marital romances a secret from the spouse. (Only when actually cheating though, romances that are not being pursued are unaffected) (defaults: Level 2 15% (v2 10%) Level 3 40%).
  • Visibility radius reset to default. Nobody was seeing cheating, so you were pretty much getting away scot free.
  • Threshold for Level 2 reset to default. Pretty much same reason as above, I set it too high, Level 2 was never triggering, and so you were getting away scot free all the time.
  • All other functions not changed (including faster visibility decay time).
V2
  • In order to be accused of cheating, the "other romance" must now be Level 2, hopefully solving the "old flame that you never cancelled" problem.
  • The threshold for obtaining a "Level 2" romance has been doubled, meaning that hopefully the system won't kick in for silly things.
  • The "visibility radius" has been halved, meaning that not every Sim and his wife will notice your "naughtiness"
  • Invitations to each others house, and placing phone calls to your "other Sim" will now have a negligible effect on the visibility
  • The visibility of the relationship will now begin to decay after just 1 hour of no contact, rather than 24.
  • The decay rate is now 8x the default, meaning that after 24 hours of no contact, chances are the relationship will no longer be Level 2.
  • The following traits in your Sims partner increase the chance of being accused by 5% (default 10%): FamilyOriented,Good, Childish,CommitmentIssues,HotHeaded,Neurotic
  • Conversely these traits decrease the chance of being accused by 5%: Inappropriate,Flirty,Coward,HopelessRomantic,Carefree,Shy
  • As long as your relationship with your current partner is at least good enough to be "Friends" if you weren't in a relationship, the chances of being accused are halved. (Default "Best Friends" -10% chance) as well as reducing the "Betrayed" Buff's timeout by 6 hours.
  • Sims no longer have a 300% multiplier applied to the chance of telling your partner about cheating.
  • If your Sim is "Eternally Faithful" the chance of being accused is 10% regardless of level (default 15).
  • If caught cheating, your relationship only decreases by 25 not 90.
  • To stop the breakup, you must repair the relationship by 10 (default 25)
  • [new] Above Reproach is actually useful now. It completely eliminates the chance of being accused. (Default -20% chance)

What This Mod Does
It depends which flavour you install. The most basic function of the "50, 25, 10" packages is to reduce the "tanking" effect from -90 to -50, -25, or -10 depending on which flavour you install. The other flavour (KillAll) completely kills the system, so that your Sim will never be accused of cheating. V2 attempts to fix the system, so that it works as intended.

What This Mod Doesn't Do
It won't actually disable the system if you install "KillAll" your Rep will change, you just won't get any negative effects from it. Postive effects have been retained. Also if installing one of the reducer packages, then it won't effect the chances of being accused of cheating, it just won't destroy the relationship when it happens. (For a more elegant system, try V2)

Compatibility
This is a Tuning Mod, so it shouldn't matter what EP's or SP's you do or don't have. Obviously you will need patch 1.22 to use this Mod. Partially compatible with EGC (see changelog), Definitely compatible with Non-Core Modded games, and probably compatible with Awesome but I haven't checked. This Mod edits the "RomanticVisibility" XML, but as the entire thing is given over to Romantic Rep the chances of conflict are pretty much 0.

Only install ONE of these mods. They all edit the same resource and will conflict with each other

Enjoy

I've been using this mod for a while now and seem to be having a problem: none of my sims get 'Faithful' Reputations even when they've been together for ages and literally don't know anyone else to cheat with. From what I've seen it seems to say they will be faithful after 12 days, but I've got to 25 days and it hasn't appeared. I don't know for sure that it's caused by this mod, because it would take rather a long time to test, but I haven't got anything else that could be affecting it. Do you have any ideas?

Well, I have noticed the same thing, but I can't say for definite that it's caused by this mod. I didn't touch any of the faithful tunings. The only thing I can think of, or at least what I was putting it down to in my case, is that once they have a "Naughty" or a "Cheater" reputation, or once they start along those tracks, then the faithful track becomes unavailable.

With some of my sims, I thought that might be the case, and it annoyed me a bit as they've only got naughty reputations from using the porter mod - they've been cheating with different copies of their spouses. But then I've started a new game that doesn't have that, and the two sims concerned definitely haven't got anywhere towards a "Naughty" reputation - the husband only knows his wife, he hasn't even met anyone else.

Hmm... I've seen a couple of reports on the official forums on this as well, although unsure whether they are using my mod, it could just be general EA borkedness though. I'll do some testing, see what happens, may take a while to test though. (12 Sim days to get faithful)

EA have changed NOTHING about the Romantic Rep System with 1.24, so this doesn't need an update.

There isn't any conflict with this mod with the Faithful/Eternally Faithful reputation, is there? My Sims got it last night, and it randomly disappeared, and I was wondering if this was any way related to your mod, or if its just the game.

^ I suppose this does mean its possible to get Faithful/Eternally Faithful with this mod, I just don't know if the disappearing issue is at all related.

I don't know is the honest answer. I've had a couple of reports about that now. Within theory it shouldn't matter, as I haven't changed any EA stuff regarding that, but I am investigating it.

Hello again, I do have a bit of an update for you regarding this issue. I'd like to say before I say anything else that I do love your mod and think it works well. I am using version 2.1 at the moment. I revisited my save file (after the two Sims got the Faithful rep I saved right away, and when they disappeared I exited without saving) and noticed that the reputations for two different couples in the household disappeared at the start of a new Sim day. Both had the Faithful reputation, while another Sim has a Naughty reputation and has had it for a few days without issue. I found this interesting, and it reminded me of aspects of this mod having to deal with visibility, resetting visibility after a certain amount of Sim hours, etc.

So, I decided to take our your mod to see if it would change anything. I waited until 12am Sim time when it disappeared before, and it has yet to disappear. I haven't been playing long into the game since I noticed, so it may still be an EA glitch or just something wacky going on in my game, but I figured I'd let you know that your mod somehow seemed to affect it in my game.

If it's something wacky going on in your game, then it's going on in mine as well =/

Alright, this is going to take some time and work. I'll have to make a mod that makes each change singley, to try and find out what's causing the borkage. Any help with testing when they are done would be appreciated.

Yeah, I've been playing more today and the faithful reputation stayed after taking out your mod. No issues.

I'd be happy to test when you have a new version. I'd love to have your mod and have faithful Sims as well.

Okay here we go.

The zip file that is attached to this post contains lots of different mods.

In order to rule out mod conflict I need you to remove all of your mods apart from this one.

They all overwrite the same resources so only use one at a time. What I need you to do is test each one individually, and tell me which one(s) causes the moodlet to disappear.

I really love how you've fixed the reputation system. This mod will definitely make it more realistic. However, I seem to be having some problem with the Above Reproach reward. I downloaded the V2.1 version of this mod, and I purchased Above Reproach for my Casanova (which is a pain to maintain, oi) sim so that he can go about and have his girls without ruining his reputation, but I was still accused of cheating. I was first approached by one of the sim's romantic interests he hadn't seen in a couple days, and then I was accused by a romantic interest he had not seen in several sim weeks; although to be fair I did acquire a new romantic interest right in front of her(she was one of the party dancers at a bachelor party. He romanced the second dancer in front of her.). Are there still situations in which I can be accused of cheating or is there something else I need to do? I had a different version of this mod, but I deleted it and replaced it with 2.1 if that would make a difference.

Yes, there are still situations where you can be accused of cheating. That is one of them. Basically, the RRR balances the reputation system. It doesn't touch the jealousy code. The two are easily confused as they manifest in the same way in game, but on a code level they are completely different.

If your Sim had got jiggy with the party girl on a different lot (or room if you have a mod that enables TS2 style jealousy) then with the above reproach award, he would never have been caught. (v2.1 makes above reproach actually useful, 0% chance of getting caught) That is a reputation based decision.

However, because he was observed cheating, that triggered the jealousy system, which this mod doesn't touch. Now he may have got a cheater reputation for that, but the system is still working. He was caught with his pants down, figuratively speaking and so the accusation was perfectly justified.

Even with RRR 2.1 you can still get accused by reputation, it's just more realistic. As long as your Sim isn't flaunting it around town (as your Sim was) then you probably won't get caught. In your case though, it would never happen as Above Reproach makes your Sim truly above reproach. As long as a love interest doesn't actually see him cheating that is. (Don't forget, Sims can "see" cheating through walls if they are on the same lot)

If you don't want him to ever get caught, I would highly recommend you purchase the "No Jealousy" LTR and install the KillAll flavour of this mod.

Does that make sense?

I found a way to get out of the accuse of being cheated on interaction.

pause the game and build a temporary wall around your sim lol

once they cant find a proper route/path to you the interaction will cancel.

So... I saw this yesterday, and I thought "no, it couldn't possibly be that bad", and then my Sim's cheating was ousted by a sleeping toddler. Later, said cheating sim autonomously accused his romantic interest of cheating with her boyfriend. Who she'd had since the start. And there is autonomous divorce. And. Jesus. I don't mind drama, but I like to instigate it myself just a little. The divorce wasn't even acted out -- just a notification in the upper left hand corner. @_+

I don't mind having to cancel old flames, but this is madness. Thank you. I cannot wait to try this mod.

@SwtRinoa I'm using kill all and it seems to be working with pets. I noticed with my new family that there was an intial negative thought bubble over the non cheater's head but it still did not allow spontaneous breakup and divorce. The sims all had no jealousy and above reproach.

I removed kill all, because I was told no jealousy award had been fixed by one of the updates but that appears to be a rumor, since shortly after I did, despite the cheating occuring where no public could see- (except perhaps the stray cat), breakup occured as usual.

Yes, this mod is compatible with Patch 1.26. The patch didn't edit the file that this mod uses.

I am not sure if I have a problem with the reputation system or something else. I have a big household with lots of teens in it (some former imaginary friends) and two adult couples. Most of the teens are partnered within the household, but there are occasional attempts to watch the stars or compliment the wrong sim, which usually result in a relationship drop with everyone, but never lead to the betrayal moodlet.

So one of them had the cheater reputation, but that was not a problem (kissed a girl before he met his wife and she watched him "cheating" with his wife at a party). One day though, he became friends with one of the former IFs and when I saw all the red bubbles popping up I checked on him and he was on his way to kiss her. They did not kiss, because I stopped him and they are not romantic interests. He was never accused of betrayal either, but ever since then everyone in the house can express their sympathy for his wife and it does not go away (it has happened quite a while ago). His wife can be consoled. It is so stupid, because they are perfectly happy with each other. Is this part of the reputation system too and would your mod "cure" it?

So does that mean in order for my sim(s) to never get accused of cheating, he/they all need to have the 'above reproach' LTR as well as the kill all version of this mod?
