This makes it so that a boatload of small clutter, decorations, sculptures and plants is now placeable on shelves and some of the larger plants and deco (which would not fit on a shelf) can be placed on end and side tables.

Update 2014-12-16: For those who downloaded this already, you can throw the "feetprint" packages away if you want and use the bb.moveobjects cheat instead (which has been introduced with 1.3.18.1010 and results in exactly the same thing). Updated with a zip that only contains the useful parts.

Note to builders (2015-01-25): From what FakeHouses|RealAwesome posted here, downloaders still need this mod when you have used it for decorating a lot you upload, otherwise stuff on shelves will disappear. Maybe this will be fixed in some future patch (apparently just using bb.moveobjects has the same issue under some circumstances), we’ll see.

For placing small electronics on shelves, use this mod (Electronics Anywhere, same principle).

Placeability of stuff depends on two factors: 1. the placement flag (is this permitted to go on a shelf?), and 2. the footprint size (does the game think the object is small enough to actually do so?). Some objects only need the flag changed for it to be placeable (like e.g. the model riverboat – that is the long flat one, not the paddlewheel), some also need a smaller footprint. However, since changing feetprint comes with a caveat (mainly concerns builders, see below) and also the method I used for that is kind of a kludge (I had to override the entire OBJD with a reference to an existing smaller one, as the actual feetprint themselves aren't ediable yet), I've split this into three packages. Use all in conjunction or only the placement one for less of an effect. the bb.moveobjects cheat.

1. Clutter placement:

Changes the placement flag (COBJ) in the following objects so that they are permitted to go on

Shelves (and larger)

– Antique Coffee Pot
– Kept Spice Rack
– RAW Utensil Holder
– Modernist Paper Towel Dispenser
– RAW Antique Teapot
– Reclaimed Corbel Vase
– Mega Table Vase
– Tabletop Potted Plant
– Mega Flower Pot
– The Manifest
– Mega Houseplant Pot
– Porc du Jour
– Vintage Books
– School Binders and Bookend
– The Definitive (all colours)
– Caress Scented Candles
– Florist’s Dream Starter Kit
– Florist’s Dream Gardening Tools
– “Tray” Chic Perfume Set
– Always Polished Nail Polish
– Ladies’ Perfume
– Men’s Body Care Essentials
– Body Care Essentials
– Just for Me Bath Basket
– Condiment Basket
– Honeycomb Bottle Holder
– Banana Bank Heist Model Van
– Pre-Assembled Model Sports Car
– Train Set - Engine Car
– Train Set - Cargo Car
– Train Set - Passenger Car
– Train Set - Coal Car
– Train Set - Caboose
– River Queen Paddlewheel Boat
– Midnight Raven Model Car
– Vintage Model Pickup Truck
– Jolly Trolley Antique Replica
– Antique Canal Boat
– On the Hunt Statuette
– Mother Hen

Note that the "Male Cologne" (which isn't included here since it already knew about shelves, I only noticed that while testing) apparently has a height issue: it thinks it is much bigger than it actually is, and will only go on a top shelf when using the default vertical spacing for shelves.

Side Tables (and larger)

– Merry Milkmaid
– Plastic Laundry Basket
– Fine Feathered Fern
– Florist's Dream Watering Can
– Florist's Dream Potted Lily
– Potted Youch
– Terra Cotta Potted Plant
– Mega Fern
– Captain Chaz MacFreeling's Galleon

End tables (and similar)

– Caress Stacking Crates
– High Hopes Potted Plant
– Grande Vase

2. Feetprint: -- obsolete; removed

Compatibility:

Checked for obsoleteness in 1.3.18.1010 and updated this post accordingly.
Checked for differences in 1.2.16.10, the only change I can see is four UNKS that are all 0 so should work fine.

Basic Download and Install Instructions:
1. Download: Click the File tab to see the download link. Click the link to save the .rar or .zip file(s) to your computer.
Read the upload description for installation instructions. If nothing else is specified, do the following:
No Extraction Required (Script Mods):
1. Cut and paste the .zip file(s) into your Mods folder
  • Windows XP: Documents and Settings\(Current User Account)\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
  • Windows Vista/7/8/8.1: Users\(Current User Account)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Mods\
Script mods need to be placed directly in \Mods or one level below that (e.g. \Mods\Scripts) – sub-folders nested any deeper won’t work.

Need more information?
  • Anyone can use both .rar and .zip files easily! On Windows, use WinRAR.
  • If you don't have a Mods folder, just make one.
  • Mod still not working? Make sure you have script mods enabled

Thank you! I really just couldn't understand why they didn't make some of this stuff shelfable (is that a word?). And some stuff had giant footprints that were completely unnecessary to be that big. Thank you. Thank you. Also, just a quick LOL at the men's cologne comment you made. "It thinks it's bigger than it is...".

o.O .. Which game version do you have? And does this also happen when you have no other CC in use? (It's hard to imagine but might be possible that this conflicts with something else in a way that makes the whole object go poof)

I'll check for differences when I get around to it, and will make note in the OP when I've done so. In the meantime, you're welcome to post here should you encounter any hiccups =).

Just in general (regarding all types of CC), when a patch is released and you patch right away, I would recommend starting a new game to see whether everything still works as it should. That way, even if something breaks, your actual game won't be affected. CC creators have no way of knowing beforehand whether or not they need to update anything after a patch, and if it turns out they need to, it may take a little while given they're all doing it in their spare time.

This doesn't transfer to lots uploaded to the gallery, is it supposed to? The electronics everywhere too. I couldn't really figure out if you said that or not while reading the info page. Thanks for the mod though!

I've found a bug with this mod. When I have it and nothing else in game my level 10 gardener Sim cannot purchase seeds or graft cuttings. It makes no sense that the two would have any correlation but there it is. I've run the game with all of my mods minus this one and purchase seeds/graft cuttings function returns.

I've tried to leave the mod unpacked and then packed and neither option makes a difference. Not sure if anyone else is having a similar issue.

ETA: Forgot to mention that it also messed with the purchase books function.

What do you mean by "I've tried to leave the mod unpacked and then packed and neither option makes a difference"? Are you talking about unzipping?

In other words you think that this mod is causing game issues even when it is still zipped, i.e. the game cannot possibly load it?

Urgh, That's what I get for staying up late and posting w/ little sleep. What I meant was I tried it the regular way of unpacking the mod (the correct way) and the options were gone. Placed the mod in packed (on a whim, hey worth a shot) and of course the options came back bc the mod wasn't active. Does that make sense now?

Well that part makes more sense now, except that you wrote the exact opposite before (that it made NO difference whether this mod was active or not, not that it did).

Purchasing options being gone is an issue that has been reported on and off since early September. Dunno what problem that is exactly (I never had it), but one of the "fixes" appears to be going through a loading screen .. whether that's entering a new lot, CAS, or restarting the game. To me that sounds a lot more like it could play a role than a mod that changes placement flags in deco stuff
