Hi All,

Control of your downloads...

Is your hard drive crushed under the weight of gigs of downloads? Do you despair of sorting it all becuase you have 20 7ef7392_84kd.package files? Ever wanted an easy way to categorise and sort all of your downloads? Does your Llama's arsenal lack a certain... something?

If so, and you are a moderate to hardcore Sims 2 downloader, or just want to keep things organised, then you need Delphy's Download Organiser!

My name is Delphy, you may remember me from such tools as Q-Xpress, the MeshTool and the Multi-Pack Installer. I'd like to introduce you to the DDO, the second in a suite of tools for downloading and organising content.

...at your fingertips:

It's a download scanner which supports the following:
  • Builds a database of files so you don't have to scan every time
  • Gets the description and titles from the packages directly
  • Identifies the package type
  • Allows filtering on: Filename, Title, Description, Subfolder, Download Type and Install Date, Broken BodyShop files and Orphans
  • Allows sorting on all of the above fields
  • Has right-click context functionality to move files (either to an existing download folder from a drop down, or to a new folder entirely)
  • Right-click context to delete a file or selection of files.
  • Right-click Open with SimPE
  • Incremental Scanning, so it remembers when you last scanned and only adds new packages installed after that date
  • Orphan scanning! Yes, it can now tell whether your recolours have meshes, or meshes have recolours.
  • Identifies "broken body shop" packages
  • Detects over 50 different package types.
  • Little balloon popups for notifying you when things are done
  • Automatically scans for packages that have been removed from the downloads folder outside of the program.
  • Makes your lunch for you*
  • Deletion of files is accomplished via 58kW light amplication through ionised emmition of large boom sounds.**

Pretty stuff:

Main screen:

Filtering in action:

Scan wizard:

Orphan scan in progress:

Menu options:

Known issues:
- This isn't really an issue, but if you're orphan scanning and you find that you have a large amount of orphaned files, please take note that not all those files maybe truly orphans.

- If you get an error "Applicated has terminated unexpectedly" when trying to run it, please make sure that you extract the rar file complete with subfolders.

Where you can get it:

Click on the "Download" tab at the top of this post text, and download the "DownloadOrganiser.rar" file.

You need .NET Framework 1.1 (same as S2PCI and SimPE older versions), as it's written entirely in C#. If you can run S2PCI then this should work fine.

Installation instructions:

IMPORTANT: This version requires a full re-scan of all folders.

IMPORTANT: Once you have downloaded the .rar file, extract the entire contents in its own folder. Do not separate the files. Then double-click on the DownloadOrganizer.exe from this folder. Again, all files need to stay together in its own folder. If you want to put a shortcut on your desktop, right-click on DownloadOrganizer.exe and select "Send to Desktop (Create Shortcut)". You will get an error if you copy the .exe to your desktop.

New to this version is a *complete* translatable interface. All strings, interface elements, and package names are now translatable. I've included an English and a Russian language. Big thanks to SummerGlau who helped with the bugs and did the translation!

    - Fixed bug with polygon count column header

  • Numenor and IgnorantBliss, for answering questions about the way Objects are setup
  • MaryLou for the translation, excel files and general help
  • Quaxi, for the SimPE source code that helped with some package resources
  • vbAccelerator, for the systray code
  • Mark Harmon, for the progress bar in a status bar control

Yeah, I think Delphy is a great genius, as great as the game creators themselves.I also love this site more than anything else. But I posted a message on 4th Nov 2009 11:19 PM but nobody answered me till now.
"Hi, Thanks very much for this wonderful program, I just love it!
Sorry to bother you, but I'd like to know two things: what to do when DDO doesn't show any object category in catalog placement for downloaded objects, can I add one? or change the actual one when it shows a different place I don't agree with? Any help I do appreciate, Thanks again."
Delphy, although I'm sure you are a very, very busy man, could please give me an answer for that?I have this problem all the time.I have Windows 7 Home premium 64bits. I do appreciate all your help. One thousand thanks in advance. Please, answer me any time you can, please!!!!

This has been very helpful to me; however, every time I open the program to organize my downloads folder, I see some things that alarm me. (1) It shows that green bar in the bottom left corner that says it's "scanning X of Y files, but (2) X + Y > the number of downloads it claims to have found on its initial, installation scan, even though I have not added any new downloads, (3) when it's finished, it says "Scan finished, Z packages removed as they no longer exist," and when I open my game, after seeing that message some of my content is missing!!!!!! Where did it go!? Why is this program deleting my content!? How do I make it stop? I really like the idea of being able to organize my folder, but if I can't keep reinstalling my backup downloads if it keeps deleting things!!

You are a life saver, I'm a terrible organiser, but this has seriously helped me! Finally have everything in its own folder and I no longer have to search through millions of files to find what I'm looking for!

Has anyone figured out why this isn't working on Win7 64-bit? The tool doesn't even launch. It crashes immediately after launching the exe-file.

This is amazing! Now I can find the bad defaults my sister downloaded and replace them! Thank you!

(Just a question, though... what is an empty package? Does it have no information inside of it, and doesn't show up in game?)

Hi, Delphy! I absolutely LOVE your download organizer, but I have a question. Some of my custom content, it is in my download folder, does not show up in the download organizer. Does this mean the file does not work? I am not a technofile, much as I wish I was, so any help would be awesome! Thanks again for the AMAZING organizer!

PS - I would love to know as my game is crashing, and I have a feeling some broken files may be causing this. I deleted a lot of packages that would not show up in the organizer, and that seems to have stopped everything, but after downloading new content, the game crashes. Thanks again!

I'm completely lost....again! Something with the JitDebugger thingie
After scanning my download folder, a red cross is displayed in the Delphy window and an error message from Microsoft.NET Framework pops up. Details below:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

The application must also be compiled with debugging

For example:

<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

How accurate is the poly count on the download organizer?
The "Blake_Boy Annie Modular Sofa" is showing up at 6912 polys
However the creator states it at only 1342 polys.

My best favourite tool for ages ! I never had the time to put my comment about the program I use everyday for tidying my downloads in my CC folder,[even if a lot of bodyshop items aren't correctly identitifed well] deleting duplicates and the orphan files {even if certains files aren't truly orphan I don't care} I'm so grateful to have a such program on my pc.Using it with SimPE and the Sims2pack Installer it stays a wonderful tool to keep with us.No matter how much imperfect it is I'm not bothered at all.

Default Thanks, quick question
I have lots of custom content, some of which I cant recognize as it is just long strings of letters and numbers. This looks ideal to sort it out. I have downloaded it and started to run it but it doesnt seem to be doing anything or is taking ages. It has now been running for about 1 hour with no evidence of anything. Is this normal and should I just wait. Thanks for any help.

Sorted it out and its working fine now. Brilliant program, at last I can identify empty packages and duplicates. Thanks
