Note for those with lots of clothing*

If you are having trouble finding the outfit you want to point the 3D ID file to through the SimPE browser, you can obtain the group and instance of that property set. Do this by opening the clothing package in question and copying the group and instance values of the property set file to the corresponding values in the 3D ID file.

Furthermore, if you are a skinner and want that outfit to only show up with the career, open the property set of the clothing package, and change the flags to 0x00000009. The outfit should no longer appear at character creation or outfit planning.

Ultimately it is up to people who have made careers and want to update them with their own uniforms, otherwise one can't be sure if anything has been done.

Default Help
Thankyou Vagrant for these templates, but, I am not sure just how to use them. Am I suppose to edit the template and rename it? And, if so, what do I edit it with? You mention that they are not supported by SimPE.

Thanks,

Johnny Boy

Edit them with SimPE, change the outfits being pointed to, change the guid, change the name reference, and save it as something you'll recognise. The only thing SimPE doesn't let you do is assign them through the Career editor plugin. But posted above is an explaination of how to manually assign them to any career.

These files are merely a guide to those wanting to make custom careers without having to use the default uniforms or leave it up to individual players to change their everyday clothing to match. Downloading them, and leaving them as they are will still technically work, but since they are not referenced by any careers, and point to rather useless outfits, it is suggested that you only download if you plan on making your own career.

To use it in a default career you would have to extract that career with SimPE's object workshop, and change that career as described above, but making sure that you leave the career package set to overwrite the default career.

Just a suggestion - change the title to say "Testers Wanted - New Career Uniform or Outfit Templates"

I came across this post last week & then came back today to actually take a look at it. I just spent over 45 minutes trying to find it because I kept searching for custom outfits, career outfits, outfit templates, etc, etc, etc.

Almost everyone refers to the uniforms as outfits because that's what maxis named them. If you add outfits to your title many more people will be able to find this thread

Added "outfit" to the title so that it should show under those searches. The question now though is if it's needed any more with the OFB uniforms? Or, would something similar be needed so that people aren't stuck recoloring the same apron? Since I don't have the expansion yet (Bills, food, and computer upgrades come first.), I can't answer this one or even start working on it. But I would imagine that it is setup in a similar way.
Doing all the things, and *mostly* not failing.

I'm making custom schools for children and I would like to give them custom uniforms, how would I modify your files to apply to children?

Thank you for making this wonderful template.
