Why is everyone saying they like the surf side better?

I'm an interior designer, and i must say the skateboard side is much better.

Hmm I'd say... ohh I can't decide....if you live near the beach the surfy side would look really good but if your near the city/urban area the skateboards....

i say to make u both happy find a surfboard she loves, and a skateboard u like or watev. and put each on opposite walls of the room, and pick a color that will seamlessly match both objects

....but that's simply an idea LOL
