I've only played with the Plant sims that came in the game, but I certainly don't like the look of the guy in the first picture! I'll take my chances with your much yummier creation - Thank you!

thank you

What about the thousands of wonderful men and women who are fighting this war without any of the credit or the glory that always goes to those lucky few who just happen to get shot?

This is the tutorial I followed, posted by Xylune @Insim:
Quote:
You should have the latest version of SimPE installed from http://sims.ambertation.de. SimPE requires .NET 1.1 to work.

1. Go into Create-A-Sim debug mode. If you don't know how, go here:

http://72.9.230.162/wiki/TestingCheats

2. Create your alien using the alien genetics. Making a replacement PT with a different skin color like lavender would require changing the default alien skin which is beyond the scope of this tutorial.

3. Once created, enter a neighborhood and place the alien on a small empty lot. Exit the game.

4. Open the package file of your newly created alien. It is found in the Characters folder of your neighborhood and is named something like N00X_User00XXX.package. Sort by Date Modified to make it easier to find.

5. Under Filetypes, select Facial Structure. Under Packed Files, right-click on the Facial Structure file and Extract it somewhere where you can easily find it.

6. Under Filetypes, select jpg/tga/png Image. Under Packed Files, extract both the images to the same place where you can easily find them. You may then close out of the package file by closing SimPE.

7. Open SimPE, click on File--> New to create a new package file. You can leave it on Long Index and click OK. Click on File--> Add..., browse to where you extracted the files, and add the files ending in .xml. There should be three in total, two for the jpegs and one for Facial Structure.

8. You should now see the three files listed under Packed Files. Below that, make sure the tab is on Packed File. In the Group box, change the ID to 0x7F45284D which is the Group ID for Pollination Technician. Click on change all listed to the right of the box, then make sure the three files all have this Group ID.

9. Click on File--> Save, and name the package file whatever you want. Close SimPE because you are done.

10. Place the newly created package file into your Downloads folder, and Pollination Technician should now be replaced.

Take that and apply it instead to your Plantsim, and replace the group ID above with 0x7F56568B

Hope that makes sense

Thanks for this! I was just wondering why Rose Greenman's spawns were weird looking .. and then I remembered this thread.

Thanks for improving the looks of our plant sim babies!

I read your above post about how to change things, but it didn't answer the question that I have.

I have Default Eye Replacements in the game. Whenever any Sim is created, the default eyes override the Maxis eyes and all is well. The 2 exceptions I have are the Plant Sims and one alien replacement that used original eyes instead of alien ones. The problem happens with the newborns. Some are born with the original Maxis eyes instead of using the replacements that I installed. Looking at the Ideal Plant Sim and the alien father in question, I assume that it is because they are using the original Maxis eyes.

How can I change your Plant Sim so that the replacement eyes are used instead of Maxis ones? If I go into body shop, it is just a matter of clicking on the eye color again and it will switch to the proper eyes. I just don't know what to do after that. Do I have to go through all that extracting routine that you have above? Or can I just change something about the eye info numbers in SimPE to correct the Sim?

Thank you for taking time to answer this. You made an awesome looking replacement Ideal Plant Sim.

Running: Sims2, Uni, NL, OFB, Pets, Seasons, BV, FT & AL. Patched.

Well yeah, that plantsim is really cute! Is there any way to see him in game too, like communicate and stuff? Or could you make a whole new thread with him as a Sim to download? I really like him :D

Whoops - sorry guys, been disconnected for over a month (also been away for the summer). Anyway...

@magicmoon: The plantsims use their own eyes, which ones they are depend on what skin you're using for the plantsims. All I did was replace the facial structure, in the same way others have replaced the PT - I haven't touched the eyes. If you summon him in-game with Insim, you'll get the original (see first pic of thread). I don't know if that answers your question or if I misinterpreted...? Glad you like him/them anyway

@reaalgirl112: As I said above, it's just the facial structure I replaced so we can get pretty sprouts If you want the actual sim it can be arranged - which one though? I've got two up here

Thanks for your comments guys :D

First one! Oh god, I'd be so ecstatic if you'd make him as a downloadable sim!

LOL Okay, I'll extract him - he's using default replacement eyes and skin, just be aware of that when you download him

ETA: Well, given how strict the rules are for uploading sims here, I'd sooner put him up in this thread. Here he is, enjoy!

Content
The author of the hairstyle I used would rather I link you to the mesh instead of including it - go here to get it Clothing used by Elfmaid was found here but is included. As stated before, everything else is default replacement, so he might look a bit different in your game.

Yay! I love your replacement! (I like the first of yours personally, but thanks for making two!)
I've only recently been allowing my sims to "live" out their lives, (aging and such) but I've always wanted to have plantsims babies, so now it's great! Yay! Pretty plantsims! Thanks so much!

I wonder why the guy there doesn't have the plantsim skin, but is the spawning factor...

Oh! Do I have to delete any plantsims I've made, since they draw form this guy? Like what about the Greenman family?

Whoops, missed that one didn't I? Never mind, replied to your PM instead For anyone else wondering, these are just like the CAS face replacements or PTs - no existing sprouts will be affected, corrupted etc. This just affects the new ones

nice idea, but somehow it messed up my plantsims. ever since i installed it, all plantsims constantly have object errors, and i end up having to delete them. i tried deleting the file in my download folder, and it didn't change. after i did that, my new plantsim babies were breathtaking but can't exist for more than a second without having an object error. i'm trying reinstalling your file and see if that works. anyone had the same problem?
