I love your "Majestic" meshes and have wanted to do some recolors for a collection. The extra help is very much appreciated! Thanks so much for your hard work on the meshes and the templates!

EDIT I just did some recolors on the Majestic Splendor mesh and I like the way they turned out. Thanks again! :D

Thanks for the feedback! I'm happy that you are finding the templates useful. I may make them for all my other meshes if it helps people.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

Sorry, you can't make a "perfect" Photo Studio template for a round/oval painting. I'm willing to make the templates for my "Oval Perfection" and "Perfect Circle" mesh but I can't ensure that the focus of your painting will fall nicely in the center of the painting. The template would cut the corners of your original painting. I've attached an example of my "Oval Perfection" mesh; using a Photo Studio template for it, the area that is shaded over the woman's face would be what gets created as a painting; the area outside the oval would be cut off and her head is slightly positioned to the right.

On the other hand, if you wanted to center her face , the best thing to do would be to make a mask of a circle and use that to select the area of the painting that you want framed. For example, I've attached the area that my round/oval meshes use. If you selected the white area, created a mask or a layer (depending on the graphic software that you use) of the white area and then used that mask to grab the area of a picture that you want you could then use it for a recolour. You can then save the mask to use for other pictures.

Sorry if this all sounds confusing but if you don't mind losing the corners of the original picture or the subject being off-center, I can make the templates for Photo Studio.

Great big Thanks, these are beautifully executed.

I too have a wish:

Could you please make few templates for slightly paintings which are slightly wide, like 280x256, 300x256 and 320x256? I think these sizes are really missed by many recolorists.

These are only templates to make recolouring my meshes easier. Take a look through my meshes, quite a few of them could support pictures at the proportions you mention.

When you use Photo Studio templates, pick a painting that has the approximate proportions of your original painting and it will automatically be either shrunken or stretched to fit the mesh (the original picture does not have to be the exact size of the meshes txtr file or the number quoted by Photo Studio.) For example, my Majestic Appeal mesh would be fine for a 320x256 image (Appeal's proportions are 308x243.) Likewise, you could take a painting at 640x512 and it would fit in Majestic Appeal but the detail would be sharper or you could use the same picture for Majestic Glamour (512x385) and it would fit as well.

You don't have to be limited to actual numerical dimensions of a picture but more the proportion of the picture. On the other hand, if you're requesting more meshes, let me know and I can make some that fit the proportions you're looking for.

Also, I have made templates for almost every Maxis painting that can support a template. If anyone is interested in them, I can post them too. Alias has posted templates for the Glamour Life and Pets paintings here at MTS2 that you can use.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

True, I have to look through your meshes. It's not that hard to use SimPE after all.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist and like to use photoshop to add or crop from the original pic to meet the size of the mesh. Usually I add a little by increasing canvas size and then recolor the new part with that copying brush etc. while I try to be faithful to the original pic and it's composition. Shrunking and stretching often produce terrible results compared to the original and there's only room for 4-6 pixels in a 256 size to do so - at least in my opinion.

Okay, I better understand your request now and yes you are a true perfectionist

But just a question, if the original is the right proportion, couldn't you use Photoshop's "paste into" command (I'm pretty sure that what it's called) so that the picture is resized proportionally and no content is lost and there is no perceptible distortion rather than adding or cropping to the picture?

I hardly ever find a picture with the exact size and use the "fit into" (my graphic software's) command for almost all of my 2400 or so recolours. Just thinking it could make your life easier.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
