Subtle Glance Eye Replacements (Smaller Pupil & Iris!)

Unbiggenated Eyes!

One of the things that bugged me most about TS3 eyes (and most of the replacement sets I've seen) is that the pupil and iris were unrealistically huge, which makes sims look as if they're tripping on mushrooms. While that's cool if you're into that sort of thing (duuuuude), it makes it really hard to make good celebrity sim likenesses, since the defaults are just way bigger than normal human eyes.

So I have unbiggenated them!

Due to the textures being somewhat lighter than the default, you may need to darken/desaturate your sims' eyes a little bit. This is on purpose - I found you couldn't do really bright, light eye colours very easily with the defaults, nor did you retain any detail going into darker shades. This way, you only lose the texture if you make your sims' eyes truly black, but there's still discernable variation at extremely dark brown and such.

Because of the unbiggenation, I have had to replace both the actual eye texture itself as well as the overlay. This means that these will -not- be compatible with any other textures that also replace the overlay. These are thus incompatible with my Custard faces. I've switched to Aikea Guinea's faces - or you can use my original face replacements that come with the body skin. Or any other face replacements that don't touch the overlays.

These may look a bit strange due to the smaller pupil and iris on certain eye shapes. I didn't find I had to adjust the eye shapes of any of my sims, but your mileage may vary.

Installation Instructions:

1. Download the file.

2. Extract from the RAR.

3. Install the Package File. Recommended is use of the Helper Monkey linked there.

4. Delete your cache files from My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\ - the four files with cache in the filename.

5. Play!

If you want to remove them, just delete the file from Mods\Packages and delete your cache files and they'll be gone.

Model Credits:

Models are my Lucas, Diana, Eric, Roxie, and Merit, plus TummyZa's Raymond and Princess Leia's Leah.

Thanks to:

Pinstruck for the base texture. I had permission previously from ages ago to edit)

Poconopixie, for the sclera texture and overlay texture. This usage is allowed in her TOU - link unavailable; there wasn't any website listed in her readme that came along with the textures.

Aikea Guinea, for the info on making eyes.

Peter Jones, for S3PE.

Cmomoney, for the name.

Where can I find Aikea Guinea's faces? They are not on this site.

Very nice work. I hated those oversized eyes

This is by far my favorite default replacement. Go realism!
Thank you for getting the Sims one step further out of the Uncanny Valley.

Not buying TS4 until Terrain Sculpting is back and cheatless Split Levels are added!
Here's an idea: Stairs Pitch Slider.

I just downloaded the patch (1.4.6) and I can't seem to get these eyes to work.. They were working before the patch and now they aren't. Just wondering if there's going to be an update or is there just something wrong with my game..? :l

Well I'll repeat what others say but I want to thank you for your eyes, I'm only using those now because they are the more realistic.

They're under Default Replacements.
If you want the full anatomical set, that link seems to be broken. So just download bodies only, and faces only. Obviously it equals the same thing!

Annnnd of course thank you HP for the amazingness that is this download!!!

Yes yes YES! The Sims 3 eyes always bothered me too! It seemed pointless to even have Sims with light coloured eyes, because the pupils were so dilated, and completely consumed the iris in some angles. I appreciate this a lot (it was one of the things I came on here looking for.)

I know you're too busy for requests, but I honestly love the semi-maxiness of your Custard faces. Could you pretty please update them so we could use them in conjunction with these beautiful eyes?

Pretty please with fondue on the top?

I just have to tell you that I love these eyes! I have been using every type of defaults out there and none of them have been what I was looking for. Once I used these, I knew they were special. Thank you so much! You make my sims look normal. :D

i tried going to another set of eyes but came back to these. these are too awesome hp.

these work well with the "kittyklanfaces" i have the "no-overlay" version, so they work fine. you can find them here; http://www.kittyklan.com/grooming4.html

heres an image to show you, with hp's eyes and kittyklan's face defaults.

These are the only eyes I will use, as they're the most realistic. Thank you, HP!

@ everyone else-I have a question- I use kittyklan's faces as well and accidentally used the overlay version, but the eyes and face work fine together. Am I overlooking something?

just a note, these do not work with vampire sims in supernatural. not sure but it has something to do with the whites of the eyes being darkened as a vampire, and these eyes keep a white circle around them. i took them out and it was the problem. I'll post a screen when i relog again.

YAY! I have been looking for these ever since about when Island Paradise came out! I loved them on Lifesimmer's sims so now I want them too!!!!

Yes! Sims 3 replacement eyes that aren't huge and glassy, yet not super-realistic/sparkly/anime. With these + more shaded face overlays, I can make my Sims 3 characters actually look EXPRESSIVE!

I really like the cartoony-yet-expressive look of 2 and 4 best, so these are perfect. Now I can play Sims 3, which HAS toddlers, with Sims that look funny, cute, different from each other, and alive. Yay!

These look fantastic. I'm glad i found this post cause for years I didn't wanna buy sims 3 just for this eye issue. Thank you so much and keep up the good work HP!
