This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.
This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS2 - check the sidebar.
This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
Updated with tutorial link. Someone requested a tutorial, so I put one on the Sims Wiki under my username. The link is

One of my favorite downloads from the Sims 2 was the backless shower that someone made. I don't remember who made it but I miss it. So I decided to make it. This is nothing fancy just a simple edit of an existing game object. It is a new object and does not replace or override anything in the game. I have played with it in my game for about five hours and haven't had any problems. In response to squeam's question you may upload this with any lot. It doesn't have to be just on MTS just feel free to link back to this thread. The shower costs $100 and can be found under bed/tubs tab in buymode. For those having an issue seeing the thumbnail delete the objects thumbnail package and clear your caches and the item should display correctly.
New Objects are in beta stage at this time.
There is one known issue with this object at this time. When recoloring the object in the game it still lists four palettes to color even though the object only has one recolorable part. I have tried to find a solution but haven't found one yet. Will update the object when I discover how to fix this.
