Welcome to the small town of Mayhaven! As always it's a decorated neighbourhood, using deco made by Criquette. After Portland, the previous project, it was about time to get back to what is really fun about making neighbourhoods: shaping terrain and making hood deco fit into it. Piece from Mayhaven tourist brochure: Quote:
As a decorated neighbourhood can't be packaged (like a house or sim) you need to download the custom content yourself. The neighbourhood will work if you do not download everything. Please remember to place the cc into the downloads folder before you start the game, as the cc will not appear if you add them after you have opened the neighbourhood once. To install Mayhaven, open the .rar file and move the folder named N158 to your EA Games\The Sims 2\Neighborhoods folder. You'll find them in your "My documents" folder. You can also just download the .sc4 file if you want to decorate everything yourself. Pretty much all of the terrain work was done in Simcity 4, so placing stuff like bridges and roads should be easy. On the subject of trees and EP requirements: There are MANY trees and they might produce lag instead of oxygen if your computer isn't strong enough. Remove some of them if it gets laggy. Or if you want to get rid of all of them you can do that pretty quickly, thanks to Mootilda and the HoodReplace utility. Simply copy everything except the trees over to a blank neighbourhood, make sure to select remove trees in HoodReplace. EP requirements: Apartment Life is required, but there is a way of working around that too. First of all, one EP will always be required for decorated neighbourhoods, and I chose AL because around 25% of members here has that EP (number might be misleading due to useless brain).
Copying Mayhaven over to a blank neighbourhood in your game using HoodReplace is possible, and it shouldn't matter what EP combo you have. You MUST have one EP though, 'hood CC doesn't work in basegame only. I have tried this method, but not as much as I would have liked too, so it's on your own risk if you try it. (Make a back-up first and/or use an AnyGame!)
Also worth noting is that some maxis deco comes from different EPs, so if you don't have the right EP deco such as the lighthouse, water tower and some trees will not appear. And that was a whole lot of text, all that’s left now is to say that I hope you’ll enjoy this neighbourhood, and give you the shopping list of Criquettes CC that you need. ![]() CC used: (not included) Marina piers and boats set Decorative Road Pieces Set Regional Airport Set Athletic Fields Set Modest Embankment Set Ultimate Railway Set Bus Transit Set Road Bridges Set Additional Credits: Criquette (for the deco), Numenor (for AnyGameStarter) and Mootilda (for HoodReplace). 799 people have said thanks to zaxis for this download.
