This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.
This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS2 - check the sidebar.
This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
*COMPATIBILITY: This item is compatible with World Adventures as well as the base game.
Where yo curleh moustache at? It's here, in the shape of a conversion of the curly moustache and pointy beard mesh from The Sims 2's Unsavoury Charlatan NPC. Now your sims can be so Pringles.
It's enabled for Teens to Elders, and can be recoloured.
As well as using it for Charlatan lookalikes and other evil types, it can also be used for diverse historical sims such as, as below, a Cavalier look or a Victorian Gentleman.
WHERE TO FIND IT IN CAS: It's in the Accessories panel, in the 'Earrings' section - it's identifiable by a thumbnail with a picture of an Unsavoury Charlatan - it's NOT in the Beard Section.
Currently it's apparently technically impossible to import a mesh into TS3 as a beard because of some sort of weirdness with the CASpart for beards. I therefore had to make it an Accessory, which means it's not possible to choose to match the colour to the hair, so you need to recolour it manually using the CAST colour wheel. Also, maybe due to being an accessory, it looks a bit 'flat' and not as realistically textured as I'd ideally like - but, the one beard mesh that comes with TS3, the Full Beard, looks flat and not realistically textured either, so it may just be a shortcoming of TS3 in general.
One other thing to bear in mind is that unlike TS2, in TS3 any meshes (and overlays) applied to the face deform a lot according to the sim's facial fatness and to their facial expressions. I think this is probably another reason why so few moustaches and beards came with TS3, and why most of them are very basic face overlays rather than meshes. See screenshot below for an example of facial expression deformation, and if your sim's face is too chubby, the beard or moustache may clip in some areas. So just be aware that you need a good facial sculpt for this item.
*I've also converted the Unsavoury Charlatan monocle, here:
