This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.
This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS2 - check the sidebar.
This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
*COMPATIBILITY: Tested as compatible with World Adventures as well as the base game.
Ahoy, varmints! Following a suggestion, here is the Sims 2 pirate eyepatch converted for The Sims 3.
It's enabled for men and women, Teen through Elder. It's recolourable and repatternable. (You need to use a fairly big pattern for patterning to show up well - the
patch reduces the size of patterns applied to it.)
It will be found in the Accessories panel, under the Watches section, with a thumbnail of a picture of the eyepatch.
Why the watches section? Because I thought people may want to use other head accessories with it, such as glasses or earrings, or other custom accessories cloned from glasses or earrings such as my Charlatan beard/moustache below, or for instance aikea-guinea's vampire fangs so that you can have a vampire pirate - but, you can only have one item of each type at a time - they are not layerable. This way, you can have both.
The only drawback to it being under watches is that you can't zoom onto the eyepatch while colouring or patterning it - the zoom will go to the sim's hands instead. But I thought this would be a small trade-off as it means being able to use the
patch together with earrings, glasses, fangs, etc.
Technical Issues: With TS3's facial sculpting system being so different to TS2's, clipping can occur on certain extra large or protruding brows with this item, and can also clip through certain hairstyles in strange looking ways. So just be aware that you need to make your sim's face, and choose their hairstyles, accordingly. The
patch does fit most faces fine, as long as the features near the eyes are a fairly average shape and size.
Here's a look at it in-game. Cycl0n3 Sw0rd IS Guybrush Threepwood! Can his roomie Tamara be his Elaine Marley?
Aaaaarrr, matey!
