Picked Upload! This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS and in the community.
Sims2Pack Clean Installer is a tool for Sims 2™ and all people who download a lot of custom content. S2PCI can be used to categorize, catalog or remove that content. It will also help you in installing your files. You will be able to preview some content before installing. It has built in unrar and unzip routines, as well as possibility of installing dozens of files with single click.

For more information, please see the official website at:
http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/

The newest version recognizes 64-bit and the Ultimate Collection, thanks to abluescarab.

Requirements:
- The Sims2Pack Clean Installer is released under the GNU General Public License.
- The program uses some DLLs from Datgen and SimPE; they are included in the installation.
- You need the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=20137

Installation:
To install, just download Sims2PackInstaller.zip and unzip it. Run the installation EXE from the unzipped location.

If you would prefer a no-install version, download Sims2PackInstaller_NoInstall.zip and extract everything. You will have to set the file associations yourself. Here's a brief explanation of how to set up the no-install version:

To have the Sims2Pack Clean Installer install your CC into a non-default location, here are some suggestions:

If you always want to have the Sims2Pack Clean Installer install your CC into a non-default location, please see this post:
http://www.modthesims.info/showpost...0&postcount=152

For multi-install, please see this post:
http://www.modthesims.info/showpost...2&postcount=203

I have included the source code for the latest version in Sims2PackInstallerSource.zip. There is no need to download this file unless you are a C# programmer who wishes to look at or modify the code.

Please report any problems with this new version in the Sims2Pack Clean Installer forum. Be sure to mention which version you are using.

How To Help:
The most important thing is to let me know if you have any problems. I have a limited ability to do testing, so I'm hoping that people will tell me when things go wrong.

Specifically, if you notice that a piece of CC is incorrectly identified, or has other incorrect information, please let me know. If possible, a copy of the CC (or a link to the download) may help me to find the bug.

Update: I think the problem is that this file has a low reputation with Norton, so it gets deleted as a potential threat. I know this file is a few years old; can someone please confirm that it is safe? I can probably set it as an exception, but I don't like disagreeing with Norton (it's usually right!).

Short Form Answer: Yes, this download/program is 100% safe

Hello, New Simmer. I had come across your post a while ago and I was hoping that soon someone would test out this little experiment for the both of us because I was having the same exact questions as you. But alas, I recently took up the daunting decision, on my own, to disregarding Norton's rating of this particular download, and I can tell you with certainty that the installer is indeed completely safe to download. I believe Norton gave it a low rating because of the pop-up download process that comes before downloading the program onto your computer rather than the program itself. Even after installing this download, I made sure to have Norton do a full scan of my computer and nothing malicious or suspicious was found at all.

I have no problem wanting to detail you how to exclude this program from Norton's distrust, but I don't want this post/comment to be too long since all you asked was for a check up of whether this program is safe or not. If you need help with how to exclude it, definitely comment back and I will be glad to help. Other than that, I hope this was helpful and that you feel more secure about its safeness. Toodleloo and Happy Simming! :D

I have Win 7 32 bit and have no problems with Clean installer. Another simmer has Win 7 64 bit and is having trouble getting CI to work.

Help! I was trying to disable some duplicate packages using 1.6.22.0 but every time I click "update" I get this message:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Sims2Pack Clean Installer\url.txt
Starting Web Update
Connecting to: http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/15/
Checking Version
Error connecting to http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/15/version.txt
Could not connect to http://sims2pack.modthesims2.com/15/

***Edit to add that the packages appear to have been disabled despite the error message, which I am still receiving.

Default Windows 10
It works great in Windows 10. I have a Windows 10 upgrade from Win 8 and I have no problem using this program. I started out playing Sims3 when I got my new computer, but I found I didn't like some things it does so I tried Sims 2. I haven't found any problems using any player programs like Clean Installer and others. I am so grateful for this program and Sims 2 Categorizer http://modthesims.info/t/179139.

So I'm an old member, getting back into Sims 2. I can't for the life of me figure out how to work the Clean Installer... Feeling really dumb, but there simply is no install button that shows for me. 'enable' on mods doesn't do anything. 'moving' them to downloads... didn't move them. it just made it so the program can't find them anymore in the folder they're in.

I'm on Windows 10...
