There has been a settlement along the Kaen-Garen River for as long as anyone can remember. The Old Town of Jericho was a sleepy place, caught in the past, drifting along quite happily in its own little world.

Until one day, someone constructed a big red bridge across the Kaen-Garen, and a new City Hall and high rise buildings sprung up on the other bank. Newcomers moved in, a local government was formed, and new institutions and businesses arose. All at once, the people of Old Town found themselves invaded by a new way of life, and they were not happy!

Will the Old Town citizens be able to preserve their customs, or will they be forced to adapt to the new ways? Will Old Town become part of New Jericho, or will the old buildings remain as a monument to the past? Will the newcomers be accepted into the Old Town culture, or will the societies be ever kept asunder?

Only your sims can decide!

I have some images of my sims in Jericho here, I will be adding to those as I play.

Jericho is featured in a great magazine, SF Magazine. Click HERE to read it! Jericho is on pages 106-109. Thank you to asiashamecca for that!

Armiel has started a story about a Sim (Kimi Raikkonen ) who lives in Jericho, check it out HERE! Thanks, Armiel!

Fourk has started a blog which is set in Jericho, check it out HERE! Thanks, fourk!

Kiwi_tea wrote a very flattering review of Jericho, read it here! Thanks, Kiwi_tea!

Jericho is situated on a peninsula in the ocean. The city of Boscaster can be seen inland, in the distance. The Kaen and Garen Rivers cut the land, creating a natural boundary between New Town and Old Town. The commercial area lies where the rivers merge, conveniently situated for access from both New and Old Town. To the south of the Jericho Peninsula is a swamp area, and several small islands formed by the Kaen are reclaimed for the New Town settlement. Jericho boasts sandy beaches as well as shingle, and several ancient monuments form landmarks on the Eastern hills. Climate is temperate, with varying skies. The wealthier residents tend to live in the New Town area, but some more expensive properties have been constructed on the Old Town river bank, perhaps prophesying a turn of fortune for that neighbourhood.

A map of Jericho can be seen here.

Jericho is unpopulated. As you play, sims will be moved into the neighbourhood, or you can move your own sims in. If you wish to have more control or to rapidly populate the town, I recommend Twallan's Story Progression Mod. If you are looking for sims to move in to Jericho, I recommend looking at the Sim download section of this site, or perhaps the Population Project at Custom Sims 3.

I have the sims I made for Jericho and other worlds available in my studio. Get them here! Treacle O'Flynn is the one I used to start my Jericho 'legacy' family.

World Information

Map Size: Large 2048X2048

World Type: Jericho is a suburb (the same as Sunset Valley).

Game Requirements: Basegame 1.26, WA-AMB-LN-GEN-PETS 10.0.96. Riverview (non-decrapified) is also required.

System Requirements: The majority of this was built upon a very low spec computer, however Pets has pushed up the minimum requirements somewhat. This is a large world and it is also very complex; it makes use of effects and has a large number of lots.

Custom Content: None used (except for Riverview).

Custom Resources: I have made extensive use of custom resources in this world, these are files that are included in the world file itself and only function for this world.

Effects: Jericho makes extensive use of in-game effects, some are lot-based and some are at world level. Some of the world effects were imported from the EA worlds using this method.
The number of effects in Jericho is comparable to that in the EA worlds, so should not cause performance issues.

Technical Content

Number of layers: 13

Terrain Paints: Jericho uses 15 terrain paints.

All of the terrain paints were created by myself, most are EA recolours/realphas but some are made from textures found online. Each world chunk has 8 or less textures.

Routing: The majority of the land is routable, including offshore islands. Near to the distant terrain is a band of non-routable terrain, this is to prevent your sims from seeing the join! Some steep areas have been marked as unroutable, where it would look unnatural for sims to walk.

Spawners: All basegame and EP spawners have been included, except those which can be found in the WA Vacation destinations (although one or two exotic fish spawners are placed). I have made a map showing the location of OFF-LOT spawners; I have not included the lot based spawners in this, since those can be changed to your liking. Click here for spawner map. Small animal/bird spawners are placed on lots; however the metal/gem/seed spawners seem to spawn small animals and birds too, so you should see plenty in Jericho after a few days.

Lots: There are 162 lots, 82 residential and 80 community.

Thanks to Armiel for these, I pinched them from her Charlton Island thread!

Quick Guide:

1. Click the file listed on the Files tab to download the file to your computer.
2. Extract the zip, rar, or 7z file. Now you will have either a .package or a .sims3pack file.

For Package files:

1. Cut and paste the file into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages folder. If you do not already have this folder, you should read the full guide to Package files first: Sims 3:Installing Package Fileswiki, so you can make sure your game is fully patched and you have the correct Resource.cfg file.
2. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

For Sims3Pack files:

1. Cut and paste it into your Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads folder. If you do not have this folder yet, it is recommended that you open the game and then close it again so that this folder will be automatically created. Then you can place the .sims3pack into your Downloads folder.
2. Load the game's Launcher, and click on the Downloads tab. Find the item in the list and tick the box beside it. Then press the Install button below the list.
3. Wait for the installer to load, and it will install the content to the game. You will get a message letting you know when it's done.
4. Run the game, and find your content where the creator said it would be (build mode, buy mode, Create-a-Sim, etc.).

Extracting from RAR, ZIP, or 7z: You will need a special program for this. For Windows, we recommend 7-Zip and for Mac OSX, we recommend Keka. Both are free and safe to use.

I've got another question. There were 2 schools in the beginning, but I deleted one of them earlier on because I didn't need it. Now that the Sims clutter in front of the one school for 3 hours and half of them end up leaving, I've placed the other school but they don't seem to go to it. I don't know if it was working in the beginning, but how would I go about getting the Sims to use both schools? I deleted them both and replaced them again, if that does anything.

Thanks so much for building this world! I admire all the planning and the many little details that have gone into the making of Jericho....it is amazing. I do have a couple of questions

1. If I save a copy of some of the duplex type lots (or loft type lots), that have npc sims living next door, into my lot bin, will they work the same in my other worlds?

2. If I decide to delete some of the duplex type lots in Jericho and replace them with single family houses (ones other people have made) will that mess up the game? Do I need all of those lots for the NPCs that work the cash registers?

I guess I'm not sure how all the npc stuff works. Everything works great in my game by the way. I'm not missing any buildings or having weird things happen so that is a plus! I just don't want to go and screw anything up.

Thank you all for your replies!

katiejesse8- Did you get it working? Read the instructions carefully, it tells you how to rename the files or browse to the next part. Otherwise, try the alternative download links on the first page.

Peterskywalker!- Thank you for the compliment! I'm glad you like the world and are having fun with the tombs! I had a lot of fun building them!

TezaG78- I'm glad you got them working, well done!

Kayleena- Did you get it fixed? It's the 'County Care General Hospital' object from Riverview, for some reason with some people the Riverview rabbitholes are getting lost. I can't reproduce this, so have no idea why it's happening- it must be something to do with the Riverview install.

nyoleen- The requirements for Jericho are written in the first post, World Adventures is required I'm afraid.

Zetsubou- I'm glad you got it working, and are having fun!

AmandaSowards- It needs Pets, I'm afraid!

eclipsse- Did you try the alternative download links?

Skullith- Hehe, now you are finding out why I placed two schools! If you add another school, any sims that age up to child will be added to that school automatically if it is the nearest school to them, so after some time you will see students there. If you want to add a sim immediately to that school I think you should be able to click on the school and transfer your sim there, but bear in mind that I play a modded game so I may be confusing that with something a mod does.

allburningup- Thanks for the nice comment, I'm glad someone is reading what I write!

RemsGirl- Thanks for the lovely comment, I'm glad you are enjoying Jericho! To answer your questions- 1) Yes, 2) No, deleting the lot will not delete the NPCs (they will be 'homeless' but still available to the world). So deleting the lot is safe. You should be able to delete any lot in Jericho and replace it without causing any problems. I'm glad it's all working well for you!

It really is a fantastic world - beautiful, with incredible detail - and I love the descriptions of the buildings! Thank you so much for this - I can't imagine the time and effort it has taken to produce such an interesting, intricate place - looking forward to many happy hours playing it! :D

eclipsse- I'm glad you got it working! Thank you for the great comment.

Jenesis- That's really nice of you to say, thank you! Jericho took me almost two years, but I did work, eat, live, research lots of things, make a small world for my daughter and attend lots of music concerts in that time, too.

Thank you all for downloading!

Is it possible to use a hospital and whatever else was used from Riverview from a neighborhood other than Riverview? I tried installing Riverview, but it literally will not install - I have tried pretty much everything - and my Jericho currently has no hospital. :/

Lakitty- Yes, that is possible, although you will be missing some of the recolours that I made for the Riverview rabbitholes. You may find that you have a lot of other items missing, too! A far better solution would be to get your Launcher working, install Riverview and start a fresh Jericho game.

What other things do you know of that might be missing? I've noticed I can't get the sky texture working either. For now I've stuck the Bridgeport hospital in Jericho though, which seems to be working well.

As for why Riverview won't install... for some reason it acts like it installed, but when I go to check none of the files were installed and restarting the launcher indicates that it isn't installed. I already tried bug fixes, but none of them seem to work. :/

Lakitty- I've used the Riverview deco objects in the world and on lots. For example, a water tower, the cow standee, water troughs, no fishing sign, windmills, the scarecrow... you will see a bird hovering in the air instead of sitting on the scarecrow's shoulder!
If Riverview won't install then it indicates that one or more of your DCCache files are glitched, so following the solutions in the articles I linked will help you to solve this.

The sky texture has nothing to do with Riverview; that is an EA bug that affects all worlds. There are solutions for this in the 'known issues and notes' list on the first page.

Gywem- Thanks for the great comment! I'm glad you like it. I have no plans currently to update Jericho, but I may revisit it in future! If you want to make your own updated version you can do so, by downloading the CAW files from the first page.

ani_- Thank you for the lovely comment! No, you're not missing anything, as someone else pointed out this problem. The only think I can think of is that there is some kind of glitch, as my copy does not have this issue. The floor in that area should be the same as the floor in the area with the Miner and nectar maker in- do you see the floor texture there? It's possible I messed something up, if you can make it work by replacing the floor then that sounds like the best solution!

likearocket= Thank you, I'm pleased that you like it!

Wolf King- My pleasure!

IzzyBess- Hehe, the problem with that was that there are no yellow bulldozers! It's called Jericho just because I liked the name, and it was the name of an organisation in a sci-fi show I watched.

Yup that's a big problem Big yellow problem. Ehhh imagine sim with dramatic trait, laying in front of his house... haha.

I like the name too, it reminds me of "The Dark Tower" book, there was Jericho Hill in there.

Thanks for the comment,

This is my gal opening the door. I had her walk in, then close the door, in case that helps, and here she is re-opening it. As you can see, there is nothing after that white line. It's just black.

Talia19- I answered that question in the post above yours.

IzzyBess- I haven't read any of the 'Dark Tower' books, but I do like Stephen King. Maybe I'll get some!

ani_- Wow, that's not good! Maybe I messed something up there! As you can replace the floor then that's what I'd advise, sorry about that. Not sure why it's showing up okay in mine and not others. Thanks for the information!
