Hopefully not to belabour the point, but 'snob' is not particularly the thing to hang your hat on as something that needs to be transtated. It's a perfectly common word and concept. If you want to change it to anything, change it to 'Elitist'. (Edit, cos I spelt elitist wrong. Smiley.) |

Just in case anyone is wondering, this mod is compatible with my Unlocked Child/Teen LTR and Traits mod, as my mod edits only the xml and this mod only edits the strngs. |

Common sense is one of nature's great ironies... It turns out common sense isn't so common. Please see my new journal for news on my mods as well as requests. |

| OMG. | I personally am a house-bound agoraphobic, so I really like that you changed the trait to that. :P |

Genius is one that annoys me, the word genius does not mean "good at logic", which is what the trait does, I think it should be changed to logical. However a trait called genius that ACTUALLY made the sim fairly good at everything would be cool :-) |

I think you who created this, are bad in English and Spanish, I am playing The Sims 3 & all expansion packs in French, I can't understand, so I learn to understand word by word, it turns out it is very flowery in words, every languages have their beauties instead of changing (Just like some Americans). Snob is a very important English word but most people ignored it. Bookworm doesn't literally means you are a worm of books, it is all in literature styles, athletic is a very common word, crybaby is not a good replacement for overemotional, all the changing make the language very bad. Just leave the beauty of the languages alone, don't tried to alter into your own style. |

Let me give you some English words from there: Angler (Likes fishing) Athletic (Very common word, loves to exercise or work out, sounds more beautiful) Bookworm (Loves books, everybody who start from Grade 1 will knows this word) Childish (Common, nothing else to say) Computer Whiz (Common, sounds like computer wizard, in my French it translated to computer wizard) Couch potato (Common, very good English word) Genius (Very very common, the best word of all the other 'smart' words but it is a matter of sentences or word or speech) Green Thumb (Very common, for British people and nice word) Hates the Outdoor (Okay, you won one point, but what if some people don't understand) Hot-headed (Common, I think you all don't appreciate literature) Insane (Common, Crazy sounds okay, but insane sounds better) Mean-spirited (Common, mean in their hearts) Natural Cook (Common, born to cook nice food) Neat (Common, you don't say 'clean person', sounded like you wanted to brainwash him) Neurotic (Common, same as nervous) Over-emotional (Common, can be crying to the extreme or angry to the extreme) Schmoozer (Common without the 'r', means to chat to (someone) for the purposes of self-promotion or to gain some advantage) Snob (Common, snobbish means very arrogant and stuck-up) Virtuoso (Common, person who are very good at music) |

I forget to say: Most Bible Study people learnt the cultures of Biblical landmarks then they read, they understand the literature of the Biblical landmarks. If you want to learn a language, you should know their basic culture of the countries, then read word by word, it will be clearer. If you want to use an English dictionary, go for Collins dictionary because their definitions are correct due to the fact they came from England, the country of origin. |

Hi, thanks for the comments and feedback. Honestly, regarding the way I put this mod in the title and description, I don't think I did it very well. "Better Trait Names" is a very subjective title and, evidently, not everybody will necessarily think the renames are "better"; that's why a few days ago I changed it to "Trait Renamer". Apart from that, I am only studying English, and while my grammar might be fairly well, my vocabulary isn't, thus I'll get better at it before attempting to do something like this any other time. Once again, thanks! |

You should change Adventurous to Traveler. Going to France a lot doesn't make you adventurous in my oppinion. And also as echoweaver wrote, change Disciplined to Martial Artist. |

Entré a tu post por casualidad y me llamó la atención tu "traducción", y que llamaras al español original del juego "sin sentido". es curioso, ya que acabas de describír tu traducción. sinceramente, prefiero la traducción original a tu "traducción", es más correcta. tu tienes mal el 50% de palabras. el español original del juego es de españa y es más formal y lo comprendo más. no hablo inglés. google translate: I went to your post by accident and I noticed your "translation", and you called the original Spanish game "nonsense". is curious, since you just describe your translation. honestly, I prefer the original translation to your "translation" is more correct. you have 50% of bad words. the game's original Spanish is Spain and is more formal and I understand more than yours. |

You took a bunch of regular terms and replaced them with derrogative slander. Geek? Posh? Immature? Crybaby... the list goes on. I really dislike the negative connotations that come with all these labels. This is probably the most depressing mod I've ever stumbled across. Half the new terms are offensive and crass, the other dumbed down versions of the original words "Likes reading" and "Good Cook". Ugh. Like I said before, these aren't traits, these are labels. This isn't the stuff you get praised for, it's the stuff the other kids at school call you when they make fun of you. |

I think most if not all of the changes are to make American terms more understandable for non-American English speakers or beginner English speakers. These words are kind of "putting it plainly." Any native American would know what all the original things mean already, and find them cute. That said, it's an amazing mod for anyone who hasn't had the time/upbringing to be familiar with every vocabulary word we use in the USA and needs it put plainly. You are very close! However I agree with Missa and n8h@wk, there are a few that aren't accurate on a definition level: Athletic > Sporty (Not sure if it matters, but Sporty is more like someone who casually likes sports specifically, athletic is someone who is very into physical activities which include sports but other things as well and working out. Sporty implies a lower level of involvement, more amateur. It is also only applied to girls for some reason.) Hates the Outdoors > Agoraphobic (No good because agoraphobics aren't disliking of the outdoors, they're fearful of leaving home. This is a very common misconception of the definition of Agoraphobia.) Over-emotional > Crybaby (Not very accurate, crybaby only focuses on sad, negative reactions, but the over emotional trait in the game applies to happy reactions too.) Snob > Posh (Bad fit, two completely different things. Posh is the same as fashionable, trendy, or "with-it." Vain doesn't work either because vain means you think highly of yourself and how cool you are - focuses on how you look and your status. Snob means you are picky about what you feel is good and bad, and look down on others for not being as awesome as you - focuses more on how people behave and what they like, and how your opinions are the ONLY right ones. You can be vain without being a snob, not sure if it's possible to be a snob and not be vain. It may not sound like a big difference, but I know my native tongue I can say it is a big difference. Snob is a very very common word, but it's a mean word so that probably explains it not showing up in beginner vocabulary. The only thesaurus synonyms I can find for snob are less common words. Arrogant might work but it is closer to vain.) For fun, dictionary definition: Snob: "person who looks down on others" (note key word others) Posh: "luxurious, upper-class" (note that this is nothing like the other words) Arrogant: "having exaggerated self-opinion" (note key word opinion) Vain: "excessively proud of oneself" (note key word oneself) Neat > Clean (I see what you were going for but neat is the word for someone who is cleanly. Or you could use the word "cleanly." For someone to be "clean" means their body itself is not dirty, as opposed to someone who keep their living area clean. It's subtle but makes a big difference. Maybe say "likes to clean" or "keeps things clean?" If you said "keeps clean" that would even further imply you're talking about their body.) |

Dunno if it was mentioned or done already, but Over-Emotional could simply mean "Sensitive". That's something that's always been socially accepted here as meaning 'over emotional' or even simply 'more in touch with your emotions'. Over-Emotional Sims are fun to play, btw. I feel Athletic could be left as is, though. As well as "Neat", though then again maybe a better word exists for that trait. I could see "Snob" as a change to "Vain", but idk if Vain exists in an expansion somewhere or not. But the Snob trait sims always want to buy mirrors. So many wishes for mirrors... |

It's a very good mod but... all the terms you changed FROM are what an actual english-speaker would say, and the ones you changed them TO are either less common, don't mean quite the same thing, or just erase all the colorful metaphor that is really all english has going for it... |

I realise this comment's slightly older, but I had to speak up and say that no.. it's not similar except for in the suffix. The ending '-phile' is just the opposite of '-phobe'. It means you like/love something. Bibliophiles like books, xenophiles like foreign stuff, technophiles like technology. I don't mean to sound condescending or rude if I do, just trying to point something out.

| Skinborne | I like English better and I'm fine with the way it is aas long s it's in English, but I did have the game in Spanish, and I did think some of the translations were lame. So good job. And if I ever change my game back to Spanish I'll download this one. |
