Gorgeous. Gor-gee-oos. However, the poly minimalist in me wonders if these might still look fine, though admittedly probably not quite as gorgeous, if they were simply textures for the 2-triangle transparent wall overlay. Can the overlay be made to go down with walls? Could a faux 3d effect be achieved with bump mapping? Should I just get more memory and soup up my graphics card to support all those polys because, damn, that's some great looking ivy? Questions to ponder. Bee-yoo-tee-full.

edit: It's not that the individual meshes are super high poly... it's that I would go crazy and put ridiculous amounts of ivy all over every building in Veronaville... Plant sim domiciles would be all ivy all over the place everywhere... I am an ivy junkie.

Porky: See above comment about OCD and being insane. Then note that I only admit to being one of those. Agreed about real life ivy- it's pretty, but it's a pita. I've only lived in one place that had it. It looked so nice on the outside when it was all leafy. Inside? Eh, it looked nice but I had a bad spider problem because of the stuff.

COEG: The overlay could be made to go down with the walls and I'm sure that ivy recolors of it would look half way decent if a bit flat. Not sure if a bump map would help that or not, I don't even bother with bump maps- have no idea how to do them. Now you've made me think- and thanks to Porky thinking I'm OCD, the thoughts I'm thinking aren't going to go away until I try them out. But that'll have to wait until tomorrow since it's 1 AM and what am I still doing up?!?

Thanks again everyone for the comments. It's awesome to know that my.. efforts.. (OCD? Ok, maybe just a tiny bit. Not that I ever thought it showed!) are appreciated. The response to this ivy has been a tad overwhelming, I didn't expect it!

These are stunning; not only ivy and vines, but several different species of ivy. I'm totally blown away by your skill/obsession. My rich Sims get some lovely ivy on the south wall, and my poorer Sims get some kudzu on their trailers.

Oh man, these are so awesome, especially the vines. I really really want these, but the poly counts O.O I know if I get them I will put them EVERYWHERE and those poly counts will like, eat my laptop. Because I like to use ivy as curtains for my fantasy sims.
I would kill for these as a flat wall overlay, even though they wouldn't be nearly as pretty. I have some different ivy that came with a lot that is more like an overlay but I am not sure who made it. BTW I love how you describe the process making this; "And then I lost my mind", "Then it went downhill". Reading the overview was hilarious because it just kept escalating. You are insane and awesome :D

The bare vines look fantastic and are great for winter or creepy vampire castles. They'd make a great winter part of a Seasons enabled plant! I should learn how to do that, if/when I get back to simming. Ooh, russet and gold fall ivy on my college campus, good memory. Your green ivy looks just like what was all over student housing at another campus I lived on, in the summers. Ah, memories! Oh dear. Now I'll have to cover campuses with ivy, not just Veronaville.

You say OCD and insanity, I say energy, ideas, attention to detail, and thoroughness!
