I don't think the lot is lavish enough to warrant half of that without the mod, so is the problem that it isn't splitting the cost between all the sims that live there, including the townies, as it should?

I have just looked into it, and this mod settings for dorms are identical to default settings. Only the general ones were modified, so if you are getting 200% in the main hood you should be getting 200% in the university subhood.
Have in mind that bills in the university subhood are not identical to other subhoods or the main hood. Namely in dorms the bill is 6 times bigger (divided between all residents), in frats it's 9/5 times bigger and in regular houses it's 8/5 times bigger.

If you suspect there is some issue I would encourage you to remove the hood before playing the university subhood and test which is the actual bill you'd get in an unmodded game. Just in case.

Thank you for looking into it. I assumed dorm bills would be smaller than in the base hood. I've just started a new 'hood so it's a good time to figure out how the mod affects the game and I'll do some more testing. All in all I'm enjoying the challenge a lot though. I was lucky that those students got a genie lamp within a few days so they could pay off their fees or they really would have been in trouble. Looks like I don't have free university anymore, but it certainly makes things more interesting gameplay-wise.

Thanks for this. This is the perfect balance between vanilla and cyjon's Bigger Bills (I know I left the same comment on the apartment one, but I wanted to say thanks for both)

This is amazing; I got the 200% version and I'd have to say it's about right! :D

Hi. I've been using this mod for quite some time, but suddenly it stopped working. I tried removing it and putting it back in, changing it to different percentage, but it's not working. I'm not sure if you're still monitoring this mod, but I litterally can't play the game without more realistic bills, it's just not interesting.

It's probably conflicting with something else which you've installed recently. You can run the HCDU looking for conflicts.
Or you can remove everything you've added to your downloads recently and see if it works again.

This is odd indeed.
This mod is simply a default replacement (that's as far as my modding skills get tbh) so it should not cause any trouble unless it conflicts with another mod which modifies the same values.

What I can think of is:
  1. It won't change the amount of already exisiting bills. Even if you have removed everything from you folders, an already exisiting bill will remain as it is.
If at any point it "stoped" working and your simmies got low bills, in order to test if it works again you'll need to fast forward until the next bill arrives. (I would suggest using cheats to change the date to Tuesday morning and wait for them, see what happens, and then leave without saving.)
  2. Remove the cache files. Just in case.
They are in your Documents folder, and they are called Accesory.cache and Groups.cache.

I kind of wish this came with instructions for how to tune it, because I was initially using the 1500 version of the mod, but for some reason my sims only got a bill of like-- $44 which is... wrong.
And same with the 750% version I'm seeing... no change in my Sims bills whatsoever

Also, I have deleted cache and tried again several times. No change, just really low bills?

This is simply a bills replacement, which I tuned to offer variety (so you don't have to tune it yourself).
If you wished to make a custom amount based on a working mod it would be useful to figure out how to tune it (and this mod is actually very easy) but if it's not working for you then it won't be working even if you tune it.
So first let's try to figure out the problem.
It's likely to be a mod conflict: Have you tried running the HCDU?

Hey, I've been using the 1500 version of this mod for a long time and I have a household with a really fancy big house and only like two solar panels and I get huge refunds on my bills instead of huge charges. Because of how expensive the bills would theoretically be, I'm starting to think that maybe the bills passed 32767 and then I started getting money instead because the game can't calculate past that that, the number became negative and turned into giving money to me instead of taking it away, if that makes sense? Is that something you accounted for?

I had never thought of what would happen with negative bills, but it makes perfect sense to me.
What this mod does is simply considering a factor which multiplies the vanilla bills. If your bills are negative they're still gonna be multiplied for such a factor - and they'll get even more money back! >_<

With my own gamestyle it would not make sense to get negative bills at all, so I tend to avoid such scenarios - but I understand that does not fix the issue.
I'm not great at modding (I've only learned to make default replacements) but I'll try to learn how to do some checks, in case it's not a hard thing. I just can't promise anything!

Oh, I hadn't thought of that! I'm aware that some bills mods don't take into account the highest number the game can store and negative bills can be caused by that (Cyjon's bills mod has that problem, at least, if your bills get high enough), so I assumed that might be the problem on such a normally expensive lot (my bills used to be quite high before the negative bill thing started happening) but I didn't think about the idea that my bills could've been negative by just the few solar panels on the roof, and then the negative got multiplied. I usually don't play with solar panels or turbines on residential lots either (sometimes solar panels end up on community lot roofs for aesthetic, that's usually it for me), but a fortune sim on this lot keeps rolling wants to buy a green energy source so that's where that's come from haha. For now, I'll throw them into his inventory for now I suppose, and let you know if that doesn't solve the issue.

For anyone having problems with this, buyable mailboxes will interfere with bill mods. The one I had was called SEDD_ALmailbox and once I deleted it, this mod worked. I struggled for hours with this but finally found a solution! It also interfered with CEP as I now have a lot of recolors I didn't know about.

Thank you for the information!
I had no idea, since I never used any of those myself.

Hello, I see you online, so still harbor some hope I'll get some help. The mod is simply not working. I checked for conflicts with HCDU. I don't have custom mailboxes. Also tried a different mod, didn't work either. Mayhaps there's something I have to delete, or update or anything?

Hello! I'm around indeed ^-^
Not sure what the problem might be, I'm really not a great modder (my skills reach as far as simple replacements) and unless there is a conflict I'm a bit lost about what might be happening to you.
If you are really interested in using this kind of mod, I would do a 50-50 test or something along that lines. Sometimes the weirdest things conflict (faulty items, etc.).
Sorry I could not be of much help v_v
