I'm not super involved in the Star Wars fandom, but the jist of it is that a bunch of people were angry about EA turning the latest (at the time) Star Wars game into a play to win (you either have to pay to get the essentials, or spend several more hours than what's reasonable grinding to earn them), and filling it with lootboxes.
