This is a picked upload! It showcases some of the best talent and creativity available on MTS2 and in the community.
This is a Maxis Recolour which means that it is a recolour of an item that already exists in your game. Please check the Expansion pack requirements to see which game pack it recolours.
This is a new mesh, and means that it's a brand new self contained object that usually does not require a specific Expansion pack (although this is possible depending on the type). It may have Recolours hosted on MTS2 - check the sidebar.
This is a new mesh recolour, and means that you will need to download the particular mesh itself in order for this to show up in your game. See the Meshes Needed section or read the text for more information.
Hello all,
Here is a vintage livingroom set that was a team effort between my partner and I, Chris Cox.
All credits for modeling/meshing go to Chris. I've made all the textures.
Many thanks go to:
Numenor: for the troubleshooting tips he gave me on getting the coffeetable to take my recolors.
JWoods: who fixed the package for me.
There are two recolors for each piece of furniture, and three for the pears. I've really tried to make each recolor unique, so it can be as much like having a new piece of furniture as possible. The loveseat and loungechair have subsets, so you can mix and match the pillows with the upholstery.
Loveseat: polys 2596 vertices 1687
Loungechair: polys 2042 vertices 1347
(Both of these are somewhat higher than the Maxis base I used, but not
outrageously so--Chris trimmed down polys wherever he could, but I really wanted the curvy look these have.)
Coffeetable: polys 182 vertices 254
(low)
Dish of Pears: polys 894 vertices 595
(medium/low)
Things to be aware of: Something that I'm in the process of doing, is learning how to UV map more efficiently. So on future objects, you will hopefully find the texture maps smaller but with little or no graphics quality reduction.
Feel free to recolor and post--I'd love to see your results! If you post to another site, please link here for the mesh. Anything that involves our work may not be posted to any pay site. Thank you.
Also, if you are interested in some of the base wallpapers I started out my textures with, check out
www.theinspirationgallery.com--they have a beautiful assortment, and they are free for use on free Sims furnishings.
I meant this furniture to be mid-range in price, but I forgot to lower the price of the coffee table. If this bothers someone, let me know, and I'll upload a lower priced table.
We had fun making these, and I hope you enjoy them!
Best,
Suzanne and Chris
