Starting from CEP v.8.0, both the Installer and the Manual Installation zip contain all the CEP resources:
  • CEP core files: these are required for the CEP to work.
  • "CEP EXTRA" components: these are fixes and additional features that are not required, but their installation is strongly suggested; read details about the CEP EXTRA in the Documentation installed along with the CEP.
  • CEP Documentation: it's optional, but it's very interesting; it includes the FAQ, a detailed list of the CEP EXTRA and a full list of all the objects that come with the game.
  • CEP Icon Set: optional; it's mainly aimed to webmasters (to put them in the download web pages or in the local CEP Info page) and CEP enthusiasts.

The CEP can be installed automatically (Windows users only), or manually (Mac users, and anyone who wants to have total control on what happens on their computers )

  • Automatic installation (Windows users only) - Download the file "CEP_Windows-AutoInstaller.zip" and unpack it on your desktop. Double-click on the installer (CEP_Setup.exe) and follow the instructions.
You have to choose which "CEP EXTRA" components you want to install, select the path where to install the Documentation and choose what parts of the Documentation you want to install (any older CEP version will be automatically uninstalled).
To uninstall, use the "Add/Remove Program" applet, in the Windows control panel, or the icon in the Start menu.

  • Manual Installation (Windows and MacOS X Users) - Download the file "CEP_Windows+MAC_Manual-Installation.zip"; unpack the zip on a temporary folder. Open the temporary folder, and you'll find all the needed files, along with detailed instructions (for Win and Mac) that will guide you in the manual installation.
To uninstall, remove all the CEP files from your system, following the instruction provided in the same text file you used for the installation.

By now, the CEP is updated and supported by me (Numenor) alone. Nevertheless, many persons deserve our personal thanks and credits for their help:
  • RGILES and QUAXI for having invented and created with me the first CEP, that still "survives" into the current CEP. Very special thanks to QUAXI for his valuable tool SimPE and for his great kindness and patience
  • MaryLou for the help in testing the CEP, for fixing the UV-map of the Toilet Stall and for the CEP Icon sets v. 6, 7 and 8.
  • SimplyStella for the CEP Icon sets v. 3/4/5.
  • Rentechd for the CEP Icon sets v. 1/2.
  • IgnorantBliss for the countless hours spent on updating the CEP List
  • Havelock for many fixes included in CEP9 (Bohemian set, security gates, Club counters, Closet doors).
  • And last but not least, thank you very much to all the CEP users, and in particular to Lord Darcy, for their help reporting bugs, discovering Maxis faults, suggesting modifications and asking for more recolourable objects.

This is kind of a shot in the dark since it's been 9 years but I'm trying to get CEP to use with TS2 Ultimate Collection on Origin and I'm having some trouble installing it. TS2 has installed itself in Windows 10's annoyinh "OneDrive" cloud thingy, so CEP naturally wants to go there as well. The only problem is that for some reason the installer thinks all the folders in OneDrive are called "???????" (which they aren't really), so it tries to extract the files into that - and fails, because obviously there is no actual "???????" folder. Is there any way for me to extract the CEP files and move them into the correct folder manually? It asks me where to save the documentation but not the actual files themselves, so I was thinking maybe I could do it manually.

EDIT: Nevermind! Literally as soon as I posted this I realised I could do a manual installation!

Complete instructions for installing CEP in Sims2 Super Collection Mac

a) _EnableColorOptionsGMND.package:
Place the file "_EnableColorOptionsGMND.package" into your Sims Downloads folder:
~/Library/Containers/com.aspyr.sims2.appstore/Data/Library/Application Support/Aspyr/The Sims 2/Downloads

b) _EnableColorOptionsMMAT.package:
Open the Applications folder, then RIGHT CLICK The Sims 2, and select "Show package contents"
Navigate then to Contents/Home/TSData/Res/Sims3D/
Place the file "_EnableColorOptionsMMAT.package" in that folder.

c) "Extra" folder:
Open it and you will find 2 subfolders, "MyDocuments" and "ProgramFiles".

c1) Open the "MyDocuments" folder and move the entire "zCEP-EXTRA" subfolder, along with the several files contained in it to:
Applications folder-->TheSims2-->"Show package contents"-->Contents/
c2) Open the "ProgramFiles" folder and move the entire "zCEP-EXTRA" subfolder, along with the several files contained in to:
Applications folder-->TheSims2-->"Show package contents"-->Contents/Home/TSData/Res/CATALOG

I did it this way and as far as I can tell it is correct, I have several recolours of some posters and some painting recolours. The recoloured items show up like they are supposed to.

Most of my custom phones disappear in the live mode :/ Deleting the "phone" file in the extra only removes the recolors of the maxis phone. Does anyone know how to fix this? I really wish I could use phones other than the maxis ones...

Your link is dead, WinRAR tells me : access denied. Moreover, it does not appear in my game and other colors of objects and furniture no longer appear. I hope you find a solution to my problem. Thanks.

This is a wonderful tool. Been using it since I started with S2 in 2010. Thank you Very Much, Numenor.
However, since that Microsoft update at the beginning of February my computer, and by extension, the game, have had some issues. Most all have been resolved, except for one. The Chimney Recolours no longer work. I went into the CEP file, and there is no file listed for the chimney. Downloaded a fresh copy of CEP, and still no file for chimneys.
Would someone please help me out here?
This is a great modding tool for a great game. I'm currently using Sunni's fake chimneys to cover up/recolour the chimneys, but that adds unnecessary content to the game.
Thank you.

I have two laptops, one with Windows 7 and other with Windows 10. On both laptops I have installed Sims 2 Ultimate Collection via Origin. With Win7 everything, CEP included is working without any problems. On laptop with Win10 CEP is crashing game as soon as I try to enter build mode. I have no other custom content installed yet, I have checked, double checked and at least 12 times checked that CEP is installed correctly. I have tried installing it manually and also with installer. I have checked again and again that all right documents locate in right locations and still it keeps crashing my game. I have deleted caches, I have done everything instructed to prevent game crashing and I have used Origin to fix my game. Nothing works. When I remove CEP documents, my game isn't crashing.

The only difference with my two games/laptops is that on Win7 there is no problems and on Win10 there is no way I can make CEP work without it crashing my game. I'm giving up. Anyways, thanks for CEP, it works like magic on my other laptop!

I had a heck of a time figuring out the manual install for Windows 10, on a laptop on which I have installed all my old Sims 2 discs, but I think I got it! Thank you (all) for still being here!
Turns out I was prematurely optimistic -- I don't have this figured out at all! So for now I'm reading reading reading to find a solution, and hoping hoping hoping that my setup won't be incompatible with mods altogether!

It doesn't work for me, even though the "potty experiment" shows up like in the image. So I went throuh the list, and these two steps fail me:

- a file named "_EnableColorOptionsMMAT.package" in [gamedir]\EA Games\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Sims3D (regardless of the EP that you may have installed, the location of this file is always this one).
- a folder named "zCEP-EXTRA" in [Program Files]\EA Games\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Catalog.

I've got Windows 10 and The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, I think that might have something to do with it?

Edit: I saw that I was supposed to manually but files here and there. I can't find a folder called "Double Deluxe" though. Do you think this is right?

After this, the yellow warning signs were gone but it still don't seem to be working?

These were the yellow warnings signs, the text is still there but there's always a warning about some of my CC so it doesn't bother me, I had never seen the signs before though

im using ultimate collection manual install. I can't seem to get bedding recolors to show up
the exact path is Program Files (x86) / Origin Games/ Sims 2 Ultimate Collection/ Double Deluxe/ Base/ then the file locations he said to go to in the instructions page. (just putting that in there for the girl above that can't find the double deluxe folder)
but that is where I put my "program files as instructed into the corresponding folders" and CEP will show up with the warning signs when loading the game but no recolor options do not even for the potty. I need a CEP that works for Ultimate Collection. since getting ultimate collection CEP hasn't worked. I even scrapped my hood and started over. nothing.

Thank you so much for this mod, Numenor! I just re-installed the CEP 9 (because I'm having issues with the base game dart-board not being designable, for some reason, even with the latest CEP ...) and saw your "donation" notice. I'm so sorry you've received so little support! I'd donate, but I'm on disability and need my savings to take my cat to the vet. But here is my thank-you post. THANKS!
