Servo changed to look like a Sim!

Date Posted: 12th Feb 2009 at 1:54 AM

I learned something new today. How to make a Servo look like a Sim. I'm quite pleased with myself as it is easier than I thought it would be. I used the BoolProp testingCheats Enabled true; then spawned a Servo; used agesims cheat on; changed it to a teenager (which changed it to look like a Sim teen) then changed it back to an adult (Sim adult); I then used Christanlove's coatrack and was able to modify hair, makeup, clothes, etc.! The only thing I couldn't modify was eye color, but that could easily be solved by using contacts. I am now giving my rich medieval Sims servants.

Found a solution! Can recolour mailbox and trashcan again!

Date Posted: 1st Aug 2008 at 11:33 PM

Even though I still am not sure exactly why I cannot recolour Maxis mailboxes and trashcans (I'm still thinking it has something to do with FreeTime), I did find an alternate solution with the help of a download from Sim A Little Dream A Lot! http://daydream.etowns.net/

I installed the buyable mailbox and trashcan. Now that I go into a residential, the design tool activates and allows me to recolour the objects again!

Is FreeTime not allowing recolours of mailboxes and trashcans?!

Date Posted: 1st Aug 2008 at 6:29 PM

I'm now using mailboxes in my residential lots only to find that now I cannot use the recolours I made of the mailbox and trashcan on any new lots Dialogue pops up that the items are not recolourable. However, I can still recolour them on lot I created on 'older' lots. I believe these are lots I created in my Sim village prior to installing FreeTime. So now I'm thinking maybe it has to do with FreeTime EP. Not sure.

Bringing back mailboxes and using auto bill pay from Simswardrobe

Date Posted: 28th Jun 2008 at 7:24 PM

Just to be safe... I am putting mailboxes back on my medieval residential lots, then will use the auto bill pay object from Simswardrobe if I get tired of having the sim take care of it action. I had already made recolours for the mailbox a long time ago, so I'll just use those to make them fit with the theme.

Thanks to all who gave me links to get mailboxes back as well as input as to why they are important. Lucky I guess, as I have not had any problems without them up to this point.

Mailbox "portal" dilemma...

Date Posted: 21st Jun 2008 at 6:37 PM

So, after years of playing this game and seeing a long time ago that if you don't want mail delivered just delete the mailbox, I recently read in someone else's post that it is BAAAAD to delete the mailbox. Something about it tampers with the "portal" and could ruin your lot.

I've been playing my medieval residential lots for several months now without mailboxes with no problems I'm aware of *knocks on wood*. So, I don't get it. What is the big deal?

If it is a big no-no, then how do I get mailboxes back for my residential lots?

Testing Clothing Rack with 'NPC no revert' hack for compatibility

Date Posted: 18th Jun 2008 at 6:44 PM

So I'm testing out an old 'NPC no revert' hack by jaxad along with Christinalov's 'clothing rack' in order to change NPC uniforms and townies clothing to medieval costume. I wish the clothing rack had the 'no revert' built in as I don't like using 'old' hacks. You never know if they will be compatible. I'll see what happens *crossing fingers*

Update: I'm happy to report that so far (after a few hours of game play), everything is working!
I'm using Jaxad's 'no revert' hack along with Christianlov's clothing rack for the NPCs I could not change with simwardrobe's NPC replacer.

I've tested this on a Windows XP as well as a Windows Vista PC.
I have all EPs except BV.

Eventually, I will remove the simwardrobe's NPC changes and just use Christianlov's w/ Jaxad's for all changes.

Thanks for your input everyone!

Love FreeTime! So far.... no glitches *knocks on wood*

Date Posted: 14th Jun 2008 at 6:37 PM

I give FreeTime a ! My game actually loads a little faster and I haven't had any lags or crashes (like I did with BV). I LOVE the pottery wheel and violin. I've been wanting them for a long time.

I will try to sell the BV EP to a used game store in the city. Too bad, I liked the sauna, massage table and a couple of other objects, but the cons outweigh the pros.

I wish Maxis would bring back the saxophone player and saxaphone for sim use.

If someone reads this and knows of a mesh creator that would possibly create a bellows for a blacksmith or a snow owl on a perch (for Harry Potter theme). PM me! I've been trying for months to get someone to create them. I only recolor.

couldn't stand it... purchased FreeTime

Date Posted: 25th May 2008 at 12:10 AM

So, I hope I'm not making a mistake. I couldn't stand it any longer and purchased FreeTime. I had problems with Bon Voyage and uninstalled it (am thinking about selling it to a used video game dealer). The pottery wheel and violin was just too tempting, so I've got it! I haven't installed it yet, still reading the Prima guide.

I hope it doesn't cause problems like BV (crashing, slowing down the game). I'm going to keep checking the forums to see what the overall census is on the EP.

I am considered a Recolour Expert by my spouse.

Date Posted: 8th May 2007 at 3:54 AM

After months and months of creating recolours, my spouse has dubbed me 'expert'. I create recolours for items I wish to have for my games. However, I've noticed I tend to spend more time looking for and recolouring meshes than actually playing the game!

I cannot seem to find the time to learn how to create meshes. So, as Pepe (my favorite muppet) would say... you make the meshies, I recolor them okay! :D
