I personally have used Paint Shop Pro 7 for a few years now, and am quite happy with it. It can, with the help of some downloaded plugins, do pretty much everything I need it to do. I'm not sure how different version 7 is from the newer ones, apparently the new ones are more geared towards photo editing instead of being "general" graphics editing programs.
I'm only superficially familiar with Photoshop, so I can't really compare them. But one thing is for sure: Photoshop is about five or six times more expensive than Paint Shop Pro.

I have Paint Shop Pro 8 and am nearly done figuring out how the important bits work :)
Photo Shop gives me the impression of being even harder, though for clothes etc, it might be handier.

I use Photoshop. As I don't really do objects (I am more of a skinning dude) I find it handier and more compatible for my needs! :D

I have flip-flopped between both for the past 7 or so years because I do alot of graphics editing IRL.
Paint Shop Pro is a really effective program and will probably do all you need for TS2 editing. Plus it's waaaay cheaper than Photoshop.
I use Photoshop though since it is a more capable program and because I was able to get CS cheap because I'm a student.

I've used both, and I've been able to do almost everything in psp that I could do in photoshop. Also psp can use most photoshop filters. Psp is really quite a powerful program for the price.

Thanks everybody.
I have access to both programs since my guy spends all his free time (and money :giggler: ) on his computer. So he owns all this amazing software which he lets me play with too.
Downside - besides the fact that he's a terrible teacher :err: I'm one of those people who wants to figure it out all on my own (too independent :giggler: )
Guess I'll just start playing around with both programs and see which one I figure out first.

The best way to learn how to use a graphics program is to look up tutorials online. There are so many functions to the programs you will probably never just "accidentally" figure them out. I'm still learning new things about PSP7 even though I've used it for years. If you make a Google search for PSP tutorials, you will find hundreds :).

Yes, I've been trying that. Biggest problem I'm having is that most tutorials are in english where as the software I have is in Dutch. I'm spending ageds finding out where everything is and what the dutch name is. But it's okay, mostly I'm having fun doing it :)

Ahh, yes, I see. Would it be possible for you to reinstall the programs and use English as the language instead? That might make it easier for you :).

I'll talk to my boyfriend tonight, he might nog agree seeing how he's dutch and doesn't speak / read english as well as I do :)
Whatever happens I'm sure I'll figure it out, trial and error usually works

Not sure I'd qualify as brilliant but my vote is definitly with Photoshop, having used PSP 7 for some time then switched to Photoshop 5.5 (I know, I know) I can't say I'd ever go back but I do still use PSP occasionally for the odd few things that Photoshop wont do but only under extreme sufferance!

I'm like you Dallandra, I'm using Photoshop because my sweetie already owned it. He doesn't use it anymore -doesn't even have a PC to use it on. There are a lot more tutorials out there for PSP than PS, for sure. I did find a free email web class for PS basics at about.com.
If you learn only one thing from me, let it be this: Layers are your friend. Don't be afraid of using lots of them.
