I have reinstalled the game, and everything. Every time I try to create a new sim/family when you are in the EDIT screen there is no sim standing infront of the mirror. The selections I make work, but you dont get to see how it all looks until AFTER you save the sim. Then, it usually takes you to the blue area where the family waits for you to finish therest of the sims, but it doesnt. It just puts their  avatar up and then stays in the mirror scene. What is going on!?!
PLEASE HELP!

Firstly, are you running the game from an image, or with a no CD crack?
Second, do you have any custom content in the game at all?

the same thing has been happening to me too, since i installed jordi's "Hide all Maxis clothing & hair". i uninstalled those files last night and now my game is back to normal...

I got the exact same thing when i installed an add on pack, i ended up sifting through all of my downloads and found one that was making it happen, i cant remember which one it was - and it may be that there are other downloads/hacks that will cause the same problem, but once id deleted the offending package from my downloads everything was back to normal.
The way i did it was to put all my downloads into another folder on my desktop and move a few at a time to the sims downloads folder, run the game, and see if the sims showed up in the CAS screen, if they did id move the working downloads to another folder for ones that have been tested to work, and then try another batch from the untested ones.. its really tedious and can take a while depending on how many downloads you have but i didnt have any other idea of how to find the one that was causing it

To find a problem file(s) you can use these methods (either the manual method or using the Clean Installer):

I am using an image, not the disk. I had TONS of custom content, but when I reinstalled it, I forgot to back that up and its gone now. Even with it gone it wont work right. It worked yesterday after i reinstalled for the 3rd time, but I came home today and tried it and it did the same thing. And now it wont even load. It does the EA game thing, then freezes. Im so over this crap!
I dont know what else to do.

the8thdwarf03, your problem is probably caused by the fact that you are running the game from an image. I've seen this particular glitch before in association with images, which is why I asked. The solution is simple- install the game and run it from the disc, as intended.
