Hey everyone...

Hopefully somewhere out there is someone who can help me figure out what I am doing wrong?

I found a mesh here at MTS2 of a sheet of paper (literally) that looks like homework, with an F-Grade. I thought it would be awesome for a movie prop, and I just wanted to make it into a ransom note instead. The creator (Mutants_R_Us) said to feel free to recolour, clone, etc. So it is perfect for me. I downloaded it, checked it out in my game, then opened SimPE to do my work.

So, reading Numenor's tutorials on how to create recolours, I tried, I edited the TXTR, first with Gimp, then with Photoshop and was happier. I imported and it replaced the old picture. I pressed Commit, and saved, started up my game, yet the had no recolours!

So i tried again, following the tutorial to the T! I also looked around for other tutorials, and they are all practically the same, so I knew I wasn't missing a step or anything.

Then, I thought maybe I could just clone it, make the ransom note as a new object, and some recolours, like for love letter, apology letter, typed letter, handwritten letter... Etc. So I have this great project now...

So I cloned the original, F Paper, replaced the photo... Loaded game, and it doesn't even show up in the Buy catalog. Funny, though, because at start-up you know that Enable/Disable CC screen, where it lists hacks if you have any in your game (I only have decorgal hacks), my new object was named there: Letters of Every Kind (what I named the object)

So... like I said, I followed all directions, but can't seem to figure out why it's not working?!

Any help would be tremendously appreciated!

hi
Did you remember to update all sizes? Alternatively, you could post your object in the object repair workshop where people can download it and look at it and maybe fix it (or tell you how).

How do you update all sizes? I was wondering, that's all the different sized ones, 128x128, 64x64 and so on? Right? Do I have to repeat the image editing for each size?

Just one question. When you saved your file, did you save it to your downloads folder? I create special folders to save my object recolours. Once I'm happy with it I copy the files to my downloads folder.

So it may be as simple as that...I hope! :)

do you have the dds utilities intalled? If so, then instead of importing a texture image you click on Build DXT, see small screenshot and then just follow along. If no dds utilities then update all sizes

I have the DDS utilities, but the build DXT is not available. It is grayed out...

I also just tried to do all the sizes manually, and it still doesn't show up in game... >_<

do you know how to post your object?

That's the best way - post it over at the object repair thread - to upload there, just go down to the bottom where it says manage attachments.

That way we can see exactly what the problem is.
