Linking a skintone to meshes?

Okay I downloaded marvine's skintone tutorial.
I may have gotten myself in over my head here especially with my other projects but, I was reading over at insim a thread where Bloom added sexy feet to melodie9's fat family!

Anyways he said something like she linked the skintones to the meshes in a different way than he expected.
I'm pretty sure he said that she used only full body meshes.

Is this possible, if so how do I do this? I know many bodyshapes don't have linked skintones and a separate top and bottom meshes.

I have a medieval hood, and I want to do the satyrs from here:

(I know the toddler isn't a nude mesh, but a diaper and hoofs in the shower is better than maxis baby feet anyway :lovestruc )

I'd have asked Bloom but his profile says that he is taking a break from TS2.

I'd might even link the adult to marvine's bb satyr for the fit stage, so he'll be like the mermaids. Right now I'm working on the skintone, copying and pasting the textures from the outfits onto a modified Idolatry of the Flesh Skintone.

But am I wasting my time?
Is there anyway of doing this? :cry:

Its possible, I have plans of doing it myself at some point but I haven't looked into it yet, I wanted to remesh that toddler shape first, the legs looked sickly. It's do-able. Go slow, read each step carefully and save copies and backups after each step so if you mesh up you don't waste much time getting back to where you were. Good luck!
