What exactly is SPORE?

Theres a lot of talk about the PC game SPORE. I've looked it up on a few websites but still don't really get what its about. Anyone care to explain please?

well no it won't be a bit of my if the EULA says this:
4. Data Collection

To use the Spore Creature Creator, you will need to create an EA Account, which requires you to provide information pursuant to EA's online Privacy Policy and online Terms of Service. Those documents are accessible when you create your EA Account and on EA's website.
When you install the Spore Creature Creator, you will receive news and updates delivered to you on the main screen of the Spore Creature Creator in the browser window. We use the language setting of your computer's operating system to provide news and updates in the correct language.
When you interact with EA's servers, EA records the IP address of your computer. We do not combine your computer's IP address with your personal information, or use this information to personally identify you.
If you email pictures of your creations to your friends, we will store the information you wish to send and your friends’ email addresses on our server for a reasonable period of time (usually 30 days), so that your friend can retrieve and view the content that you sent to them. After that time, we do not save the email addresses you entered or any related data. We do not use the email addresses for any other purpose.
If you install Spore Games, the Spore Creatures that you created with the Spore Creature Creator Tool may become part of your game directory. EA may collect, store, transmit to and from EA's servers and players, and otherwise use the data that you used to create Spore Creatures in connection with the Spore Games. Your Spore Creatures are associated with your EA Account.

Nothing to worry about in that EULA.

IP is not being paired with personal information... that is the key concern people have with security. Basically the game is just saying you will need to register and agree to their terms (legal protection for EA), that the online aspect of the game will log your IP when you come in for security purposes (keep in mind they just get the IP nothing else off your system) and the rest is a legal description about what happens with your creation when shared through EA's servers.

Nothing scary there.

I find it amusing the EULA says that you cannot modify the Spore Creatures in any way with other tools. :)

i think you'll need the megaupload toolbar thing, not very recommended as it took me the whole night to download that little program! and its near the 17th so maybe you can wait for tomorrow and visit their official website for the trial. :)

I think that its going to be real cool. Creating my own little or big monster looking creature, and call it my own is great. I will luff it like it were my own child. :D

The creator certainly is a lot of fun. I've been looking forward to Spore for ages and now it actually feels like it's going to be released "soon" (meaning, in several more months, but still). Time to come up with more creature ideas before September!

don't know where to post this and also do not want to start a new thread, so I hope I can ask this question here.

has anyone had their spore files change icon to sims2pack's icon? when I double click on it, the sims2 installation box pop up...

and lastly, I already grew un-fond of the creature creator ... its all the same ...
