Welcome to the 'Lost' roleplay. What's this roleplay about?

You, and many many others crashed with a plane on a island. You all think that you're alone with the rest of the group. But you aren't. Really, don't let looks fool you.

First scene:

Different people walk around the beach, some people are hurt, some are even dead. There's nothing you can do, you just want to look for your own place and think of what just happened. Slowly, you start to realize it. You crashed with a plane on your way to your nicely booked vacation. You may have family, and you may have not. It doesn't care. You're here now, and nothing cares anymore.

Job: Area Team Leader (don't ask... Dad's old job :P)
Biography: Christopher is a single, athletic guy. He had a simple life, with two parents and two sisters. He is the youngest child, having been born when his sisters were 15 and 16. They shaped his outlook on girls as a teenager, trying desperately not to make him into a 'one-nighter' sort of guy. They succeeded. Although Christopher hasn't been in a relationship for around four months, he's not totally against getting back into the dating scene. He is very outdoor-sy.
Personality: Christopher is pretty much just a down to earth sorta guy, he tries to avoid conflict but is also very outgoing. He is calm and not a hot-head, prefering to think things through, but can be rude.

The moment Violet was born her mother left the hospital, leaving her in the care of the system. She was always smart but she was also beautiful. When she was 18, she started modeling around at loacl stores. When she was 20 she was offered a well paying position at a bank. She has never really decided what she wanted more. Maybe now is the time. Violet was in a 3 year relationship that ended before she left for her trip. She caught him with three girls, in one time! That's the reason she went on vacation, to clear her head.
Personality:
Violet is shy and sweet. She's very innocent and is a super incredible person, once you get to know her. She doesn't appreciate men trying to get up her skirt after they meet her one time. It's wrong in her eyes. But you never know, she may slip up. ;)

Jordan has alot of friends, she was a cheerleader at her school and participates in cheerleader championships with her friends now and again.
Personality: Jordan is a pretty much down to earth girl who enjoys cheerleading. She doesnt like public displays of emotion, as she hated bringing attention to herself. She has alot of friends which makes her popular, she can get along with everybody easily. But if somebody is arguing with her, she is completely different (kinda like split personalities).

She was on her way there when the plane crashed.

Personality: She's a very sweet girl, a little naive and idealistic, but becoming much less so as she gets older.

Instead, Syn prefers alternative music. If you couldn't already tell, she idolizes Synester Gates, guitarist in Avenged Sevenfold, and has actually chnaged her name from "Cindy" to "Syndy". She prefers the latter, but likes "Syn" even more. She recently divorced her drunk of a husband after he killed their four-month-old son, James, in a drunken rage.

Personality:Josh is a pretty down to earth guy,he can be really goofy at times,and also a bit flirty.He doesn't like people who only want to know him for his fame or money,and he hates phoneys.He believes in romance and relatioships,he isn't much of a one night stand guy,but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened before.

Name: Lilith Fitzgerald

Age: 29

Job: Psychologist

Biography: Lilith was born in Manchester, England, and is the eldest of three siblings. With age however came responsibility, and more often than not, Lilith found herself in the role of a surrogate mother for her younger brother and sister (the latter being no less than 10 years younger than her). Both independently wealthy, Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald busied themselves with their demanding careers and social lives, leaving the care of their children to their nanny, and to Lilith. Disaster struck when little Lucy, while playing in the garden (Lilith was seventeen at the time)...simply disappeared, never to be seen nor heard from again. The family expected a ransom note from the supposed kidnappers, which never came, and as time passed by, they were forced to accept the idea that Lucy was, most likely, dead.

Following this tragic event, the relationship between Lilith and her parents worsened considerably: they placed much of the blame on her shoulders, unable and unwilling to look inwards at their own mistakes.

The only Fitgerald who supported Lilith during these difficult years had been her brother, James, two years younger. He also encouraged her to snap out of her own misery and pursue a career in psychology.

Personality: Lilith is a difficult person to read at a first glance; despite her gothic looks, she often appears bright, joyful and optimistic, always ready with a joke, a word of comfort or witty remark, depending on the situation. Appearances, however can be deceiving: at the core, Lilith is a sensible, analytical-minded woman who isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. There are times however when she lapses into apathy, and can be prone to mood swings: Lilith has issues. And a temper that can sometimes get out of control. She has worked hard to overcome her own dark past and move on with her life, despite the guilt ever gnawing at her....

"Ugh. What is going on...?" Violet searched like a maniac trying to figure out where she was. All she saw were a bunch of people passed out. Many dead, but some were still breathing. "Where am I?" She was scared, especially when she saw blood.

"Oh my god! My leg!" She touched it. "Wait, no it's just a little blood, right?" She got up and started walking. "Nevermind, it's more than a little bit of blood. It's broken." Violet sat there waiting for someone with functioning legs and arms to help her up. She didn't want to be rude and wake anyone up.

Oliver sat up quickly, taking in the chaos around him. He couldn't tell what was going on - yet. Most of the people were okay, knocked out but hardly anyone was up yet. He lay back down, shutting his eyes quickly, but he heard some skuffling in the soft sand coming from some distance away.

Sitting up again, he searched the beach for whoever it was who was trying to get up, immedieatly spotting a young girl struggling to get up, he stood, and made his way quickly over.

"Hello?" He asked softly, putting a large hand on her shoulder, "I'm Oliver. Are you okay?"

Maria woke up. She had been knocked against all sorts of things, but luckily, she only had some bruises and scratches.
She stood up and started walking around. She was a nurse, but she didn't feel like helping all these people. She had to care for herself, so she walked a little further on the beach, and collapsed there in the sand. The chaos had to end, or else no one would be ok. She finally decieded to help some people.

"We have to wake everyone up!" she yelled.

"That way, we can put off the fire and help more people, we need to help eachother out here!"

Violet looked up to see a nice looking man greet her. "Not really. I think I broke my leg and I can't get up." She made a very faint sniffle because after all the effort she's made to get up, her leg now hurts.

Oliver had a very innocent and peaceful face. He seemed like a nice guy. "I'm Violet by the way." Now that someone with working arms and legs had found her she wanted to know where on earth they were. "Err, do you happen to know where we are?"

They were then interupted by some woman trying to wake everyone up. Then she looked to Oliver and said, "I would love to get up and help. But I can't even get up, let alone walk."

Lilith stumbled out of the tangle of bamboo and grass bordering the beach, with an empty expression on her face and the hair plastered to her skull. The hem of her skirt was ripped, her top muddied, and the intricate chain belt fastened around her waist now hung loosely against her right leg, bouncing lightly as she walked.

Clumsy in the tall, heavy combat boots she wore, Lilith stumbled like a drunkard in the sand as she emerged into the horrific scene unfolding before her eyes: chaos reigned supreme. People screaming, shouting names left and right, debris littering the beach, flames licking the wreckage, bits of the plane still plummeting from the sky like some horrific rainfall. Dead bodies floated in the ocean, others were barely visible among the general heap of metal and discarded luggage.

But there were survivors, too. Quite a few of them, by the looks of it, and some of them seemed injured. A few deep breaths later and a painful effort to clear her mind, Lilith was rather sure she herself had no dangerous wounds, which meant she should at least assist someone else. She was not yet nearly ready enough to think about the situation. One thing at a time, for a traumatized brain like hers.

Someone else was shouting that same idea. Running over, Lilith yelled back:

“Good idea! I'll take that side, you take the other! Or whichever!”

Approaching one of the still unconscious survivors, she leaned down and shook them:

“Hey....hey! You there?! Hello? Can you hear me?”

"I would love to get up and help. But I can't even get up, let alone walk." Oliver smiled unhelpfully at her. "Err, do you happen to know where we are?"

"No idea." He replied. "Put your arms around my neck." He told her quickly. There were loads more people on the beach, and, he may as well help them up, sitting around would help no-one.

"Ready?" He asked, and without waiting for an answer lifted her up quickly - one arm under her arms, the other under her knees.

He set her down again away from most of the chaos, in the shade of a couple of trees.

"Stay here. And rest." He told her. He had never been one of too many words, and okay maybe he was lacking a little in some social skills.

Jordan awoke with a sudden pain on her head, hand and leg. She looked at her leg which had several cuts, her hand just had a painful touch to it. Jordan raised her hand onto her head, "ow" she shouted, she put her hand in front of her face it was red from the blood. Shortly after realising she was hurt she discovered she was somewhere unknown, "where am i?" she started to screech. She soon noticed there was a dead person next to her and many more scattered across the beach.
Jordan turned to a women who was yelling, "We have to wake everyone up!"
Jordan got up, but collapsed to the side due to her leg hurting, she shouted over to the women, "hey! can you help me up please?"

Derrik opened one eye, unsure what was going on and what had happened. He had just been on a plane, being told to fasten his seat belt by the pretty cabin crew worker and suddenly he was unconscious on a beach. Oh god, where was Stacy? He attempted to get up to look for his young daughter, but was unable to move, seemingly paralyzed from shock or something. Just as his eyes started to close again, he felt himself being shaked awake by a dark haired girl

“Hey....hey! You there?! Hello? Can you hear me?”

Derrik opened his eyes again and reached out to grab her hand, trying to stop her shaking him. Something in her shaken had caused his legs to understand how to work again, and he stumbled to his feet

"Thanks," he breathed heavily, looking at the girl who had practically saved him, "I'm Derrik by the way."

"Ready." Violet smiled and let Oliver lift her up. He brought her over to some shade, under nice palm trees. It was a good gesture but they would probably be cut down soon enough. She would have to move again.

Violet sat there. She was getting a little bored so she took a leaf and started to wipe some of the blood on her leg. "Wow. It just keeps on coming."

Maria smiled as someone started to help her.

"Thanks, we really need to wake everyone up, my name is Maria."

She continued to walk around and shake people's body's. When there was no response, she checked their pulses.

"I've got a dead one here!" she yelled, picking up a young blonde girl.

"Check if someone knows her, she's blonde and pretty young. She also has some well trained legs. We need to bury her or drop her in the sea or something."

"Thanks, we really need to wake everyone up, my name is Maria."

"I'm Lilith!" she yelled back in Maria's direction and returned to her charge.

He wasn't moving. With ever increased panic, Lilith shook the unconscious man's shoulder perhaps a little harder than she should, fearing the worst. She had enough medical training to realize he could have been more seriously wounded than he seemed.

"Come on...wake up!" she muttered in distress.

Suddenly and causing her to gasp and fall to her knees, the man grabbed her hand.

"Yes!" she exclaimed, offering the first smile since that tragedy begun.

"I'm Lilith, but we can exchange proper introductions later" she said. "That piece of wreckeage up there looks like it's gonna collapse any minute!" she warned, pointing upwards. "Can you walk? We need to go NOW."

Lilith was a small woman, but her thin frame belied her strong arms and legs. She offered Derrik her arm:

"Here, hold on!"

Maria walked over to the woman who couldn't walk. She quickly got on her knees and felt around her legs.

"You didn't break anything, luckily. Just lean on me and we will get out of here, ok?"

She took her to where the other rescued victims lay and stopped there.

"Stay here, and everything will be ok? Just stay here" she said as she ran back.

Jordan felt for the women who was running around for everyone, helping everyone who was injured. "Thanks, really appreciate it. Im Jordan by the way".

Jordan soon sat down as she was advised to and she realised more people were dead around her, she felt queezy. She tried to ignore it. "I'll be alright in a minute, i did this in cheerleading before, and then il come help you" Jordan said sympathetically

Yvonne huddled near a palm tree, trembling. She felt like any moment she would pass out.. she was lightheaded and when she touched her forehead, she felt blood. She cried silently and rocked back and forth. She was going to die here, all alone, she was sure of it. She slowly lowered herself to the sand and lay down in a fetal position, sobbing.

Derrik grabbed Lilith's hand and allowed her to lead him to safety, his eyes tearing as he saw the many dead passangers on the beach. What if Stacy was one of them? He couldn't stand it if his only daughter was dead, especially when she had so much talent, and so much love to give. Hearing a woman call about a dead blonde girl, Derrik's heart beat increased rapidly

"Stacy!" he called out, pulling from Lilith's hold and ran towards the woman who was holding the blonde girl

"Yes, DAD!" a young woman's voice called out.

Derrik's head whipped around as his beautiful daughter Stacy fell into his arms, letting a single tear escape down his cheek

"Are you okay?" he cried, seeing her stand up and walk a little. She seemed in a much better condition than many people on the beach, probably because she'd been trained as a dancer: and she always seemed to land on her feet

Lilith felt a rush of adrenaline pumping inside her veins as she and Derrik moved away from the danger zone and to safety. So much chaos was around them, so much blood, and ...noise. Lilith's every sense was assaulted by the hubbub, and smoke burned in her nostrils.

Suddenly, Derrik recognized someone - his daughter by the looks of it - and ran to her side. Lilith nodded and attempted a smile -which turned out more of a twisted grimace instead - his sudden departure brought her firmly back amongst the terror of the crash.

Not far, she heard sobs...a woman curled up and crying. Being the closest, Lilith approached and touched her arm as gently as her shaking fingers could:

"Hey...are you all right?...Are you hurt? My name's Lilith. Come on...can you stand?"

Yvonne looked up at Lilith, her eyes filled with tears. "Maybe, I don't know. I'm bleeding." She touched her forhead lightly and showed Lilith the blood that covered her fingertips. "Is it bad?" She sat up, feeling sick but a little better now that she knew someone else was alive.

"I'm scared.." She said, and hugged her knees for comfort.

Biography: Merial was born in July to her mother, Amie and father, Max. She has a brother named Liam and a sister named Merial. She started to model when she was 16, which made her a bit of an outcast, as she was so quiet that people thought 'oh, she's a model that never talks. she's a snob', which was far from her personality.
Personality: Merial can be very quiet and reserved. Her parents had her live a sheltered life and she only had one boyfriend as a result, James. He cheated on her on Spring Break in Europe. She broke up with him and believes there are still good guys out there, she just hasn't found hers yet.

"Maybe, I don't know. I'm bleeding. Is it bad?"

Glad to see a reaction from the woman in shock, Lilith crouched down and kneeled in the sand, to have a better look. She had a rather deep cut on her forehead which was bleeding profusely, but it didn't look bad. In the "real world" she would've recommended some stitches, but it was not something she could offer. Not until the search party arrived at least...For the moment re-assuming her old role as a protector, Lilith reacted accordingly:

"Nah, just a scratch" she said with a smirk, hoping to lighten the mood a little. "We''ll find something to staunch the bleeding with as soon as everyone's in the clear, in the meantime you should probably not lean forward much."

"I'm scared...'

This simple, yet fundamental statement brought a severe shiver through Lilith's tired limbs. She felt cold sweat on her skin, despite the tropical heat. She had aches in several places, but, blessedly, no bad wounds. Nursing her left arm, she answered:

"Yeah...I'm scared too. We all are...hell, just look at this place! Where is "this place" anyway...?"

Looking around, it was all beach, ocean, jungle behind them. Were -any- other people near?

"I hope that search party gets here soon...there are many wounded people who will die if they're not in hospital by tomorrow. I've seen a few just there"

That was the professional Lilith speaking, the doctor. The scared human Lilith was teetering on the edge of hysteria. She wondered idly how long before she burst in tears....

"What's your name, by the way?" she asked the young woman next to her. Better to make conversation than to give in to terror, by any chance.

Josh woke up suddenly form all the noise,he attempted to stand up but fell down again,he was injured not very badly but was very weak.He glanced down to his legs and saw a huge bleeding gash.Suddenly,he felt pain sear through his entire body,and he wanted to die.Then for the first time,he prayed ,"god,if you actually exist,please let someone come and take care of me,i can't live in this pain".He fell back unto the sandy beach and tried to remember anything that had happened,it was all a big blur to him.The last thing he remembered was the plane hurtling down to the ground and then Black.He managed to glance around,and saw people lying down dead,people shouting out names,walking around the wreckage,and survivors.Then when he couldn't take it anymore,he yelled out,"Can someone help me please?"

Stacy was more than delighted to see her father Derrik as one of the survivors from the wreckage, but her blood curdled when she saw how many had not survived. Luckily and amazingly, she hadn't abtained any major injuries from the crash, just a couple of bruises here and there but nothing that could damage her hopeful career as a professional dancer. Well, nothing except being stranded on an abandoned island. Or was it?

"Can someone help me please?" someone called out

Stacy let go of her father and turned to see where the voice was coming from, almost vomitting on the spot when she caught sight of him. He was a young and very attractive young man, and had they not just been through a plan crash, she'd be all over him. Instead, she rushed to his side and knelt down

"Oh my god are you okay?!" she asked desperately, cradelling his head in her hands, "what hurts the most? Oh my god, oh my god."

Stacy didn't know what to do, all she knew was that she needed to help this man the best she could, and she tried to ease him into a sitting up position

Josh looked up and thanked the heavens for sending help,a pretty one at that,but he couldn't think of that now.He had to concentrate on actually healing."Oh my god are you okay?!" ,he bent his head and

replied,"oh,i don't think so,i have a huge wound."what hurts the most? Oh my god, oh my god.",Josh could see that she was frightened,so he did his best to assure her,"it's ok,i think i'll live,it's just my leg that hurts,you don't have to freak out"

Stacy tried to calm herself for the sake of the guy in her arms. Regulating her breathing, she helped him into a standing position and grasped his hand tightly, trying to get him to walk. She wasn't a doctor, and she was only 19, so she had absolutely no idea what to do. Common sense told her to get him to shelter somewhere: she couldn't just leave him to die

"Hold onto me," she told him, trying to smile and comfort him, "come on, I'll help you."

Josh tried but with great difficulty to limp up and hold on to her.At last he succeded and held on to her like she had his life in her hands."Hold onto me," she said with a smile,and josh was instantly reassured,she looked like she knew what she was doing now,which was good."come on, I'll help you.",Josh smiled back and replied,"thanks",with great effort,he needed so much energy just to say so little,this wasn't good.

The pain in her arm ... damn, it was so SORE! Syn tried to sit up, and was attacked by a wave of pain. Opening her eyes a crack, she realised what had happened. The plane! Must have crashed. Just ... where did it crash? After lying for a few more minutes, she sat up. At least she could now stay in a sitting position. Examining her arm, she realised there was a small bit of metal stuck in it. That didn't scare her. What scared was the fact she was sitting beside a corpse.
"OH MY GOD!" Scrabbling backwards, she put as much distance between her and the corpse as possible. Looking around, she chanced on yelling for help.
"IS ANYONE OUT THERE?!" In the meantime, she tried to remove the metal from her arm, wincing with every tug.

Stacy's blood pumped fast as she hurried to get the guy to safety, practically dragging him off the beach and into the edges of a dense forest. She didn't know what to do? What if he died on her? She'd freaking yell the place down, god she was only nineteen

"Stay with me, you'll be okay," she said to him, laying him down on the ground

Stacy knelt down beside him and continued to check his pulse. To her horror, his eyes closed and his pulse slowed dramatically. Oh my god, he's gunna die! Her whole body shook and she pumped his chest a couple of times, then fixed her mouth on his

"Oh my god, you can't die. Please no wake up!" she screamed, pumping his chest again and desperately gave him the kiss of life

Josh began to feel himself drowsing off ,he couldn't take the pain much longer,surprisingly he would rather die.As his eyes began to close, heard the girl screaming "Oh my god, you can't die. Please no wake

up!" ,When he felt the pumping in his chest,he tried to fight it not to let her think he was dead or something,with a last ditch effort,he said hoarsely,"i;m not dying",and descended once more into pitch darkness.

Stacy didn't know what to do, she couldn't think of anything else to do. They guy was alive, but he was unconscious and she couldn't just sit and wait for him to wake up, certainly when they weren't in a safe area yet. She'd have to just leave him

"I'm so sorry," she whispered, stroking the man's cheek, "but I don't know what to do. I'm gunna go get help and try and come back. Please try to wake up."

She stood up and left the man, running off onto the beach and tried desperately not to look at the lines of corpses

Maria looked around. The chaos had now turned into less chaos. The plane wasn't on fire anymore and most of the survivors were sitting further on the beach. She walked around and then walked over to a pile of corpses. She searched through them, to check for people she knew. And unfortunately, there he was. Her brother. She sighed deeply and took his hand.

"It should have never happened this way" she whispered as she took his ring.

She picked up a little rope from her pocket en made a necklace out of the ring.

"Goodbye" she whispered, as she let the body lay there and walked back to the survivors.

Violet struggled. She kept trying to get up, but really she was just making her leg worse, much worse. She started sniffling because the pain was not getting any better. Sitting there doing nothing wasn't helping her any either. "God I hate this place," she muttered under her breath.

"Can anyone wrap my leg or something. I need to get up. I want to help," Violet called out. She was impressed with this temporary gain of confidence. Although she knew it would be gone the moment someone came.

Carys tried to ignore the overpowering stench of dead bodies as she slipped from unconsciousness. Her head rang and she felt feverish.
"Ugh." She moaned. "What happened?" She watched Maria walk away and she struggled to her feet, following her to the congregation of survivors.
She tried to make it make sense. When had the plane crashed? She glanced nervously back at the wreckage. She concluded that she must've fainted before the plane had started to go down. That or she was suffering from amnesia. Her next thought was; 'Oh, god. How are we going to get home?'
She stumbled over to the group, "Hi, I'm-" And at that, she fainted.

Maria quickly ran over to the girl who passed out and held her. She checked her pulse and all the other things she needed to check.

"It looks like she hasn't eaten today, we need to search for food!" she yelled.

She dragged the girl to the shadow so she could cool down.

Anabel woke to the sound of people's distressed cries and the sight of rubble. She felt a pain in her ankle and on her forehead and a sharp pain in her side. Gingerly, she raised her right hand to her temple and felt a small cut. She took a tissue out of her pocket and put it over her cut to stop the bleeding. It slowed down a little and she stood up, her arm holding her side. She lifted her shirt slightly to her ribs and saw a huge red mark with a dark bruise. She sighed. At least she didn't have any gashes or other life threatening injuries. Anabel then stepped wrong on her foot and tripped, falling next to another person. Who was dead.

She instantly jumped up, ignoring the pain, and put a hand over her mouth to keep from screaming. She tried to stop the tears that threatened her eyes. She was 18. She had never seen anyone injured, much less staring at a dead body. Anabel ran away from the area until she got so close to the water she didn't know where else to run. She turned around to see if anyone else was here. She backed up and ran into someone else who didn't seem to be much more injured than she. Her blue eyes widened as she turned around to apologize. She tried to say 'I'm sorry.' but no words came. She twisted her hands nervously and just asked one thing.

"What's going on?"

Carys looked up from her spot to see someone running around like a headless chicken. The girl was by the water now, and so Carys pulled herself up and walked over to her...slowly. Her tawny hair was matted to her forehead, and all her makeup was running, but admittedly she looked like Miss Universe compared to all the strewn bodies everywhere.
"Hey, settle down. Are you injured?" She looked around gingerly at all the corpses. "It'll be alright."

Anabel's face was still one of confusion and tears. She was glad she hadn't worn makeup as she was still in a little shock. The other girl told her to settle down and she ran a hand through her hair nervously. She chewed on her nail and kept her arm around her side. "I--I'm not hurt too badly....I'm....I just...I fell, and they were dead...a-and..." She tried to stop panicking. "Does anyone know...where we are?! Or what...w-what happened...?"

Carys reached out a manicured hand to the girl. "I'm Carys. Or Carrie, if you want to call me that. And to those questions? I don't know either. Obviously the plane crashed, but I must have passed out before we went down." She pulled the girl over to the tree in which she was previously leaning against and sat her down. "Are you thirsty?"

"No, I'm fine....and I'm Anabel. You can call me Ana." Anabel said, and walked toward a tree, and turned around, her arms folded and her expression worried and regretful. "I wasn't even going to come here. I should have listened to my mother. She said there was a storm, and I told her it wasn't going to be bad!" She sat and looked at the ocean, leaning against the tree. "What if we never get out of here?" She asked as she looked back up at Carrie.

"What if we never get out of here?" Carys gave Ana an abrupt glare and sat down next to her.
"Don't talk like that. We'll probably only be here for a few hours more before the rescue crew comes to get us. The planes have tracking devices now, right?" Carys looked scared and a lot younger than she was. "Right?"

Anabel looked at the ground. "It just feels so...hopeless. I'm sorry. I shouldn't be so negative....and yeah. I guess they do have tracking devices." Ana then saw another man. She stood up and looked, making Carrie turn too.

Syn realised no-one was going to help, and swore. Was she the only one who survived the crash? That would suck. She looked at her arm. The piece of metal was almost out. She gave it one last tug, briefly crying out in pain, and the metal came out. Setting it in the sand, she examined the wound. It wasn't bleeding much, but she still tore off one of her shirt sleeves and wrapped it round it. She went looking for survivors.

Lilith, who had been sitting next to a young woman still very much in shock over the recent events, realized she should be doing more. For once, her throat felt raw and very dry; small particles of sand screeched between her teeth whenever she ground them together.

They needed water. Hopefully there were salvageable bottles around the crash site, otherwise they were in deep shite.

"Is it ok if I leave for a little while?" she asked cautiously. She hope her question wouldn't be followed by renewed sobs. "Im going to try and find some water and maybe some food...I'll bring you some, ok?"

With that, she sprung to her feet, for the very first time in her life cursing the heavy leather boots she had until then loved to bits, and began her reconnaisance.

Searching among the debris proved to be hard, tiring work, the glare of the tropical sun burning her pale skin mercilessly. Puffing and sweating profusely, Lilith abandoned her search after having found 3 bottles of stale water and what appeared to be a cold hamburger.

With these, she was begining to return to the small group of survivors, when she noticed a stranger's figure approaching. The woman had a bandage around a bleeding arm. Another survivor?

"Hey!" she called out, holding her free arm aloft and waving. "Over here!"

Syn's head whipped around, to see a woman with black hair and leather boots calling out to her. She looked down at her own leather boots, realizing they weren't exactly beach wear. That didn't matter. All that mattered was there were survivors. She made her way over to the woman.
"Are there any other survivors?"

The sight of another survivor brought a quick jolt of adrenaline through Lilith's tired limbs; somewhere at the back of her mind, she knew that the percentage of survivors in this particular crash was large....far larger than in most cases.
The plane had broken off in the air...they shouldn't have survived.
But for the time being, it mattered little to her.
Wiping sweat off her forehead, she beckoned the woman over.

"Are there any other survivors?"

"Yes, yes, there are several of us here."

She explained and jabbed a finger covered in several intricate silver bands in the direction of the edge of the beach, where Maria, Derrik and his daughter and the rest had retreated into the shade of a few palmtrees.

"None of us is seriously hurt, we had some blind luck!" she said. "Although luck can hardly be used to describe our situation...I'm Lilith by the way. Want some water? I gathered these for the group. I'm afraid I can't offer more than a few mouthfulls until we can find more."

With that, she opened a bottled and took a few hearty swigs herself.

Lilith replaced the cap on the bottle; the water tasted refreshingly sweet and eased the pain in her throat a little.

"No, I'm not thirsty. I'm Syn, just so you know. Wait, you said there were other survivors. Is there one called Debbie?"

Lilith's brow furrowed deeply, trying to remember the names she had heard flash by her in the confusion. Nope, no Debbie that she could remember...

"I honestly don't know, it's been mayhem here, we barely had time to exchange a few words between ourselves while getting the injured away from the wreckeage...plus, everyone's morale is pretty shaken at the moment. We can go and find out though."

Awaiting Syn to join her, Lilith took a few steps towards the group huddled together in the shade.

"I honestly don't know, it's been mayhem here, we barely had time to exchange a few words between ourselves while getting the injured away from the wreckeage...plus, everyone's moral is pretty shaken at the moment. We can go and find out though."

Syn nodded, feeling like her throat was closing up. Debbie was her eight year old cousin, how would she face Debbie's parents if she was dead? She took a few steps forward to join Lillith, who was heading towards other survivors. She scanned their faces, but none looked like the happy face of an eight year old. She felt like she was going to cry.

"It just feels so...hopeless. I'm sorry. I shouldn't be so negative....and yeah. I guess they do have tracking devices."
"See? Then we'll be fine." Carrie told herself and Ana. "Trust me." She drew her knees up to her chest and hugged them. She looked around at all of the survivors. Why was she so lucky? Her eyes fixed on a father and daughter. She wished that there was someone there to be by her side right now.

After a moment of silence... "We'll be fine." She concluded her not very argumental statement.

Having rejoined the other survivors, Lilith placed the bottles of water and the one burger in a small bundle on the sand, and addressing everyone she called out firmly, to make sure everyone heard:

"Hey! I found some water and a bit of food around the less damaged part of the fuselage...it's not much, so I think we should try to save it as much as we can until we can find more or the rescue team arrives, but feel free to take some if you need."

Done with that, Lilith sat down, feeling a sort of vertigo creep up her and clouding her vision momentarily - she had been out in the sun too long, tired and unaccustomed to it as she was. Rubbing her eyes, she looked up at Syn, who seemed close to tears. That lead her to think that Debbie wasn't one of the people in their little group.

"I'm sorry." she said and bit her lower lip. "But don't give up hope yet, several of us out there are still searching for survivors and there might be some in other parts of the island...if this is an island...if you don't mind me asking, who is Debbie?"

Carys smiled gratefully at Lilith and practically pounced on a water bottle, taking a swig. She didn't feel very hungry; in fact, she felt sick.
"If it's really hot in the day, doesn't that mean it's going to get really cold tonight?" She asked no one in particular.

Lilith pursed her lips and pondered that; at that latitude, it wouldn't get extremely cold, but cold enough to want a blanket or a fire burning if you planned on sleeping...but what were they thinking! There would be helicopters in the air and boats on the horizon before night fell...right??

"We'll definitely need a fire if we're forced to spend the night here. And possibly something to cover ourselves with if we can find it...besides, building a fire might be a good idea anyway once evening falls. It'll help the choppers find us."

Carrie realised she sounded like she thought they wouldn't get found...which was stupid, right? The flight company wouldn't just brush away the fact that their plane hadn't landed.
"I-I mean, just in case, you know?" She added awkwardly and took another tiny sip of the water bottle. "Because it might take a little time for the people to track us down." She coughed slightly. "Does anyone know if the pilot's alive?"

Lilith hugged her scraped knees together and rested her head on top - not the most adviceable position for someone wearing a short plated skirt, but she was beyond caring. She was barely begining to realize how tired she actually was.

"I-I mean, just in case, you know? Because it might take a little time for the people to track us down."

Lilith nodded feebly; she was right, they needed to keep their strength up. Her mind was elsewhere; something Carrie had said had triggered an uncomfortable thought:

"They should've been here alerady." she muttered. "With the plane's black box, it's no problem for their satellites and GPS devices to pinpoint our location...but well, we can't loose hope, they probably know where we are and they're coming. Soon."

That last sentance had come out sounding far less convincing than Lilith would've liked it.

Ana looked at Carrie. She had that worried, frightened, look again. "Carrie...if some people in the plane didn't survive, how could the pilot?"

Maria stood up.

"The pilot is dead. He probably escaped with a parachute when the plane started to crash, and look." she pointed at a tree, with a man hanging there, ropes of the parachute tight around his neck.

"He didn't survive, but we did. We are lucky that we survived. Will anyone come with me further in the well... let's call it forest, so we can gather lots of food?"

"Carrie...if some people in the plane didn't survive, how could the pilot?" Carys blushed.

"I was just wondering..." Her sentence drifted off. "Anyway, they're probably just getting the resources together to rescue us, like medical stuff."

She stood up, dusting off her denim miniskirt. "There's no point in us freaking out." She moved over to Maria. "I'll come."

Anabel looked around at the survivors and looked back out at the ocean when she saw someone who looked like her ex-boyfriend. She brought her knees to her chest and tried to calm down. Somehow while trying to relax, everything went dark...

At the sound of Maria's voice, Lilith's eyes darted to the tree with the poor man hanging in its branches - she shuddered deeply. That could've been her!

"I'll come too." she said and jumped to her feet once more. She wanted to do something to keep herself busy. She couldn't stand being idle. "I used to be a decent tree climber as a kid, let's hope I kept some of that skill" she smiled grimly. "Let's be careful though, who knows what's in there?"

By that, she meant anything from wild animals to unfriendly locals...though something told her they were the only people within miles.

"Ok, let's go" Maria said, as she walked into the forest.

Once they were in, it became dark immediately. The trees and bushes blocked almost all light, but you could still see. Maria looked up, hoping to see some pineapples, coconuts or other fruits. She looked at Lillith when she saw a bunch of pineapples.

"Do you think you can reach it? I mean, it's really high, and it has no branches."

"Ana!" She grabbed at the waterbottle and pushed it into her mouth. "Come on, you need to drink."

The forest was dense, denser than it looked from the outside. It was also extremely hot and stuffy under the canopy, and at once Lilith began sweating again, while craning her neck for possible edibles.

"Do you think you can reach it? I mean, it's really high, and it has no branches."

Lilith squinted at the tree towering above their heads. It was tall indeed...but worth a try.

"I'll give it a go. Ugh, I am definitely wearing the wrong kind of shoes for this...but what the heck!"

That being said, Lilith wrapped her arms and legs around the tree trunk and, ape fashion, she started her ascent. It was going well, and before too long she could see far over the jungle.

"Got it!" she exclaimed triumphantly, holding a pineapple, when, somewhere ahead, hidden beneath the canopy, movement broke out:

creak...crash!

Something was knocking down the trees, and closing in on them.!

Suddenly, a mighty sound reverberated in the air, like the sirens of a hundred ships blaring at once....

Lilith dropped the fruit with a yelp and all but fell to the ground.

She had seen nobody, or... nothing, whatever it was. She felt scared now and maybe they weren't the only ones on this island.

"Okay." Ana said as she was led to the forest by Carrie. She got there with her just in time to watch Lilith fall. She ran to her and then the noise sounded again. "We have to get out of this forest." Ana said to Carrie and everyone else around her.

Lilith sat on the jungle floor rubbing her left ankle - the quick descent had forced her to land rather on it brusquely and it was probably sprained. Great...just great!

"Something is not right here"

Lilith stood up, glad to see she could stand and keep the pain bearable. Maria was right, something was very wrong, and that something was moving their way!

She looked around in alarm, swinging her head in all directions but all she could see were trees, bushes and more trees....

"D'you think it was an...animal?" she whispered. "It didn't sound like one to me..."

Just then, the sound blared again, closer.

"We have to get out of this forest." Ana said.

"Run!!"

"Show yourself!" she yelled but the thing only came closer and closer and it didn't matter how close it was, she just couldn't see what it was.

"Could you see it? I didn't, for sure."

"RUN!" Lillith said, and Maria did exactly as she was told, she ran, not looking back.

Because of her ankle ailment, Ana grabbed Lilith and allowed the girl to lean on her so she wouldn't have to risk breaking it and started running out of the forest. The sound blared once more and then they were on the sand near the water.

"What the hell was that?!" Ana exclaimed.

Carrie turned and bolted, screaming so high pitched the whales were probably beaching themselves.
"Oh god, oh god, oh god!" She threw herself onto the sand when she reached the beach and let out a frightened wail.

Lilith ran as quickly as her ankle permitted, leaning on Ana . She practically leaped through the jungle, not caring she got scratched, barely even feeling the branches slapping into her face. Blood pounded in her temples, and she gasped for breath,

Behind them, huge, giant-like steps followed, crushing leaf and twig beneath them. They weren't going to outrun that, never, never!

Lilith felt a scream build up in her chest, a yell of pure terror, when, dead ahead, she noticed light! The beach!

Drenched in sweat, she fell onto the sand, gasping.

"T...thanks!" she mumbled in Ana's direction.

"I have no idea....but whatever it was, something tells me it didn't want to play nice. I think it would've had no problems killing us if..."

How were they going to tell the rest? Or better said, what were they going to tell them?

"Ana? Are you okay?" She trembly crawled over to her and nudged her. "Is everyone okay?"

One of her nails had snapped off and it was seeping blood. "Yuck!"

A dreaded thought came to mind. "What if...what if it comes out of the jungle?" She murmured.

Derrik looked around desperately for Stacy, wondering where she had disappeared to and how he had let her leave him. She could be dead for all he knew, the last he had seen of her was her going to tend to a young man who seemed hurt and hadn't seen her since. If the man had hurt her...
Suddenly he had no more time to think as young woman ran out of the forest and collapsed onto the sand a few meters away from him. They seemed terrified and he quickly ran over and knelt beside them. The girl Lilith who had helped him earlier was there, and he knelt beside her

"Are you okay, what's wrong?" Derrik asked, gently stroking her forehead

He looked around at the others and let out a heavy sigh

"What's going on?" he asked

Maria stumbled out of the forest and looked at Derrik.

"There's something in there, and it's evil, really evil, I think something doesn't want us to be here."

"MONSTER!" Carys screamed in reply to Derrik, still trembling.

If she looked a mess before, it was nothing. She was ghost pale and looked like a little child. Her eyes were wide and believing.

Lilith was feeling better. The initial adrenaline rush was subsiding, which caused her ankle to sear more painfully than before. She winced slightly, rubbing it gingerly, hoping there weren't any fractures.

"Is everyone okay? What if...what if it comes out of the jungle?"

Lilith was about to say something, when Derrik, the man whom she had helped earlier, approached. There was worry in his eyes, and Lilith resented having to give further bad news.

"I'm all right, thanks" she said with a slight smile. "Just a sprain. Well, we umm went into the jungle to search for some food, but we came across some sort of...wild animal. We couldn't see it, but it was big. Very big. I think nobody should go into the jungle, especially not after nightfall."

Lilith couldn't bring herself to say that it had sounded more like a mechanical monster than wild animal...that sounded far too crazy. It was impossible.

"I don't even want to think of that thing being able to come out of the forest." Ana said, her breath heavy from running and her hair messy from falling. Her face was pale and her large blue eyes showed immense fear and also relief.

Derrik held out his hand to help Lilith to her feet and then did the same for Carys and Maria. If their problems had been big to begin with, they were now huge; they were not alone on the island and something was wanting to get them. The jungle was definately a dangerous place

"Don't worry girls, I'll protect you, I'm the guy" he teased, trying to lighten the mood a little, "it's not often I get to look after three gorgeous girls"

Seeing Lilith was struggling to stand on her ankle, he picked her up and carried her in his arms over to a more sheltered area where most of the other survivors were gathering. There was still no sign of his daughter Stacy. He placed Lilith on the sand and turned back to a trembling Carys

"Are you okay?" he asked her, putting a steadying hand on her shoulder

He looked over at the beautiful Maria and nodded his head

"Come on, we'd best stick together." Derrik mumbled, looking over that the other girl Ana and held out his hand to help her as she appeared to be shaking badly

Carys breathed a kind-of sigh of relief. A man = a protector. "If it wanted to get us, surely it would have come out by now." Now she was thinking logically and had calmed down.

"Who knows what else is lurking there?' She turned to Lilith. "That was no wild animal." She replied knowingly. Tears filled her eyes.

"I hate this...I just want to go home!"

Ana allowed herself to be helped up and nodded. Derrik was right. The only reason they had even gotten out of the forest was because they had sticked together and ran as fast as they could without leaving anyone behind. Ana walked to Carrie and helped her up, taking a tissue out of her pocket for Carrie to stop the bleeding on her finger.

"I know. We all do." Ana said. "Come on, let's go over to the water. Maybe it'll calm some of us down."

"Thanks, Ana." She felt a little stupid for complaining about something as petty as a broken nail when there was still dead people everywhere.

"We should get rid of those..." She pointed with her good index finger. "They'll spread disease."

Lilith felt a tiny bit awkward at being picked up and carried, she never liked feeling helpless and vulnerable. She did, however, appreciate the help, and smiled gratefully at Derrik.

"Don't worry girls, I'll protect you, I'm the guy, it's not often I get to look after three gorgeous girls"

"Careful, Derrik, trouble seems to like us." she joked in return, grateful for any opportunity to keep her mind off their troubles.

"After all, we wouldn't want one of our few men getting eaten by whatever's out there...just imagine if we have to live here for the rest of our lives, only women!"

She giggled, but somehow the "live here for the rest of our lives" idea troubled her.

"Who knows what else is lurking there? That was no wild animal." said Carys.

Lilith bit her lip...she thought so too but...what then?

"Whatever it is, I don't fancy meeting it again anytime soon..."

Derrik sighed and looked at Carys whose finger was bleeding greatly, great droplets falling into the sand and stained it red. This place wasn't doing any good, for any of them. Lilith giggled and that helped him take his mind off things, as long as they stayed positive - and stayed out of the forest, they'd be okay

"I know. We all do." Ana said. "Come on, let's go over to the water. Maybe it'll calm some of us down."

Derrik grabbed Ana's arm and stopped her, looking at Carys with sad eyes

"No! Don't put a bleeding wound in the sea. The salt water will make it hurt more and may get it infected," he said. He pulled Carys towards him and took a deep breath, then put her bleeding finger into his mouth, "here."

Ana just stared. "Um...I wasn't going to suggest that so....this is a little awkward."

"Did it work?" a voice was heard from the other side of the room.

"Yes, it did. They know there's something on this island, but they can't quite figure out what."

"How are our friends doing?"

"They are among them now, and no one is suspecting something, so this is going to be fun. There's only one problem... D'hulst has died. The parachute ended up in a tree. We lost him."

"Too bad, he was really useful. Things aren't going to be pretty for the 'Lost' ones."

The laughs of several people echoed through the room, and then a door was shut.

Carys stared at Derrik and flushed bright red. "You don't have to do that..." She let out an uneasy laugh and flicked her dirty blonde hair behind her shoulder.

"Um...I wasn't going to suggest that so....this is a little awkward." That comment sent Carrie into a peal of giggles.

This is so weird... She thought to herself. We're acting like there's nothing wrong when we all know that no one is coming to help us.

Derrik knew the other girls didn't understand what he was doing, knew he looked like he was just trying to come on to them but he really wasn't. He had a PHD and had studied for seven years at Yale doing medicine and was now a plastic surgeon; the salivary glands in the mouth released saliva when stimulated and this helped the blood clot, causing the bleeding to stop faster. Ana's comment just afirmed to him that they thought he was flirting

"Sorry" he said when he took Carys' finger from his mouth, "see it's stopped bleeding. I am a doctor you know!"

He sighed and sat down on the ground beside Lilith, anxious as to what was going on in that forest. If something was coming to get them, he--as the only man would be forced to protect them, and he would as best he could. Derrik looked over at Lilith as she rubbed her ankle

"Are you okay? Do you need a splint or anything?" he asked her, shuffling over to kneel beside her and touched her ankle gently

"Well, thank god! A doctor!" Carys exclaimed--she really was grateful there was one. She moved over to Ana and leant against her. "We should go for a swim in a bit..." She winked. "When my finger's a bit better."

"Sure." Ana said, and turned to Derrik. "Maybe there was some stuff that wasn't destroyed in the plane...but...I can't go back there...it's too..."

"Weird?" Carys finished for her. "I'll go."

"I'll go with you." Ana said with courage, surprising herself. "I know it's terrible, but I can't let you go alone."

Maria looked at them.

"Maybe it's better if we first throw some rocks against the plane so we can make sure all the loose parts are off it, so It won't break when you're in it. We have to work together with this." Maria said as she threw a rock against a wing, which immediately fell of the plane.

"See?"

Carys gulped and sighed. "I don't feel very well...I'm going to go sleep..." Clutching her forehead, she stumbled over to the shade and flopped onto the sand, falling asleep.

Lilith watched Derrik silently; he must have felt a little weird, being the only man among so many women. Things could easily be missinterpreted...especially since everyone was naturally jumpy and suspicious given their situation.

"Are you okay? Do you need a splint or anything?"

"I don't think so", she replied and moved her leg a little. "It should be all right within a day, and even better if we're off this rock by tomorrow...you're a doctor, huh? I am as well, though physical injuries aren't exactly my line of work. I'm a psychologist."

"I don't know if anyone should go back into the jungle so soon" she warned when Carys and Ana expressed a desire to do so. "that thing could be lurking there, just waiting a chance to strike. How about we finish searching the wreckeage on the beach, there's bound to be a lot of stuff we could use. And, start that fire...."

Maria came with a good idea on how to make their beach a little safer.

Derrik smiled at Lilith and nodded, gently checking her ankle to check there were no breaks. He was now a plastic surgeon, so this sort of thing wasn't exactly his thing, but he could still do a basic level of doctoring. He bent her ankle and squeezed, looking up to see how much it hurt

"I'm sorry" he said as she winced, "no it's not broken but you'll have a nasty bruise there tomorrow..."

He paused. What if they weren't there tomorrow: what if they werent alive tomorrow? He shuddered to think about it

"Okay I'll get a fire going," Derrik said, standing up and snatched up a couple of sticks from the ground nearby, "I was an explorer scout in high school!"

Soon he had a large pile of tree branches and sticks on the ground near Lilith and he struck two dry stones together to start a fire, and quickly it surged through the twigs and became pretty big. Smiling triumphantly, Derrik sat back down

"So..." he sighed, "a psychologist! I guess you can help when we all start going mad," he laughed although he sighed a little. How long would they be here? "I'm Derrik by the way," he told Lilith, "I'm a plastic surgeon."

"I'm sorry. No it's not broken but you'll have a nasty bruise there tomorrow..."

"Bruises I can handle." Lilith said brightly. "Had plenty of those in my life, I was quite the tomboy. I would really be embarrassed if I had survived a plane crash without a single broken bone but ended up breaking my ankle while traipsing through the jungle"

She laughed a little, feeling more relieved than she had the entire day. She watched Derrik build a fire, silently surprised at his apparent skill with dry stones.

"Let me guess...you were a boy scout?" she grinned. "Nice work, this will come in handy very soon"

It was true: dusk was approaching, and fast.

"So...a psychologist! I guess you can help when we all start going mad, I'm Derrik by the way, I'm a plastic surgeon."

"We may be way beyond my expertise, if we remain stuck here for long" she added grimly. "So...plastic surgeon, huh? Any famous clients I might know?"

Derrik sighed and let out a little laugh, running his hands through his dark hair and accidently made it stick up on end. This was too surreal for him, he was having almost a normal conversation with a very pretty girl when they had just survived a plane crash and were stranded on a desert island. Plus, his daughter was missing with some man

"So...plastic surgeon, huh? Any famous clients I might know?"

Derrik turned back to Lilith and chuckled, laying back on the sand and stared up at the sky which was starting to get dark. What would they do at night time? Huddle together for warmth? He didn't particularly like the sound of that

"Nah I doubt it!" he admitted, "a couple of wannabe models here and there and a few minor TV actors. Nothing huge!"

Derrik looked over at Lilith and smiled

"What about you? Are you married?"

It was quite amazing how quickly the temperature dropped with the loss of sunlight. Soon, Lilith felt quite cold in her strappy top and tiny skirt, so she got up on all fours and repositioned herself a little closer to the fire. The warmth was soothing, and it felt almost cosy, had it not been for the constant feeling of dread surrounding them. And, the fact that they had just survived a plane crash...whenever she closed her eyes, Lilith could still see herself back inside the plane as it plummeted through the air...

She shuddered violently and dismissed the memories. The initial shock having mellowed down a little, Lilith suddenly realized how hungry she was and remembered the burger she had managed to find with the water bottles. It wasn't enough for more than two people, so she decided she might as well make use of it before it spoiled. Unwrapping it, she took half and left the other half between herself and Derrik, if he wanted it.

"Nah I doubt it! A couple of wannabe models here and there and a few minor TV actors. Nothing huge!"

"Well, whatever puts food on the table...God, I'm hungry!" she said thoughtfully while munching her burger.

"What about you? Are you married?"

Lilith laughed heartily, nearly chocking on a bit of bread.

"Me? Married? Nah...I sometimes think that Mr. Right must have a horrid sense of direction. He lost his way and never found me."

"What about you? I noticed that girl earlier calling you dad, so there must be a Mom, right? Oh god, I hope she wasn't on the..."

She stopped abruptly, eyes wide with sudden fear, and brought a hand over her mouth. She realized that Derrik's wife could have been on the plane with them, and was still out there.

Derrik picked up the burger that Lilith had split and put on the ground, widening his eyes. In the face of danger and possibly starvation, he hadn't expected someone to give up half of her food for him, even though he would have done the same had he had the burger. He smiled and offered it to Lilith

"You can have it all" he said softly, "you're so skinny you could use some more food!"

He stopped when he realised what he'd said and began to stumble over his words, "er not that you're too skinny or anything or that you don't look good. Well I don't mean I think you look good, well I do think you look good...oh god!"

Derrik laughed and closed his mouth, shaking his head

"What about you? I noticed that girl earlier calling you dad, so there must be a Mom, right? Oh god, I hope she wasn't on the..."

He sighed and shrugged, reaching up to remove the hand over Lilith's mouth

"No." he replied, "my wife left me six years ago actually. She left me with my daughter Stacy and I've brought her up on my own."

Derrik sighed again and then let himself smile. It was a long time ago and he was over it. Their relationship had been going downhill anyway and the divorce was to be expected. Although, he was sure Lilith would give him the custom head-to-the-side-awwing that everyone else gave him when he told that story.

"Don't worry though Lilith. I'm sure you'll find Mr Right eventually. He's probably staring you right in the face and you don't even know it."

Derrik turned pale and tried to dismiss his following thoughts. If we ever get off this island, that is

Despite her better judgement Lilith was begining to relax. With a fire crackling merrily nearby and someone to talk to about something other than the crash and how terrible it was to be, well, them, the situation seemed a little less desperate, and the "monster" was reduced to something distant and remote.

She had to laugh when Derrik mentioned her weight; she had accepted long ago that she would always be a little on the skinny side and that other girls had the big boobs and curvy hips, but of course he couldn't know that.

"Hahha, relax." she grinned and motioned him to calm down. "I've come to terms with my skinny self a long time ago. But I'm tougher than I look, I can survive with just half the burger. Sure you don't want it? You could probably use some food."

"Don't worry though Lilith. I'm sure you'll find Mr Right eventually. He's probably staring you right in the face and you don't even know it."

"Sure wish he'd say something one of these days, then" she added with a laugh.

"No. My wife left me six years ago actually. She left me with my daughter Stacy and I've brought her up on my own."

Lilith swallowed in dry throat; being all soothing and comforting wasn't one of her talents, especially with people she hardly knew. And from experience, a lot of times people didn't want others' pity. She had had plenty of that whenever people found out about the kidnapping of her little sister Lucy.

"I'm not religious or anything, but I do believe in karma" she said at last. "And that sometimes things just happen for a reason. You have your daughter with you, and you're both alive, and that's what matters most. Say, where is she?"

With night falling quickly, nobody should have been out and about. The "monster" was just one of their worries, and Lilith was convinced more earthly predators lived in the jungle too.

Derrik smiled and took a bite out of his side of the burger, beginning to relax as he lay down on the sand. Things didn't seem quite so hopeless anymore and maybe if they gave it a couple of days then someone will find them: someone would have to know about the plane crash wouldn't they? Plus, Lilith was making things almost bareable

"It's okay, I've accepted my wife left me," he smiled, "and my daughter went off with some guy she met just a couple of hours ago. That's just like her, always finding a partner in the roughest of times when I'm stuck never getting any female attention. I guess some men are just destined to die alone."

Derrik sighed and glanced around to see if he could see Stacy, getting a little worried about her, especially with this 'monster' in the jungle. Hec, just being a jungle was enough to make him worry about his only daughter's life

"So" he began, smiling at Lilith, "we've established that we're both doctors --sort of. That we're both hopeless at finding partners, and that I think you look good. Is there anything else to tell?" he laughed

Lilith listened quietly to Derrik's short story about his ex wife and his daughter; she didn't want to imagine the extra pressure of having your own kid in constant danger (after all, who could say any of them were "safe"?).

"Kids these days, huh?" she laughed. "My brother, who's younger than me, got married in college, so I'm the last one who's still lookin'."

"So, we've established that we're both doctors --sort of. That we're both hopeless at finding partners, and that I think you look good. Is there anything else to tell?"

"Only that you're more charming than you give yourself credit for, so you at least can't be that hopeless." Lilith grinned. "Or maybe only with girls you meet on deserted islands?"

Just as quickly however, she realized that her words could be easily taken the wrong way, and her heart jolted slightly; she didn't want to scare Derrik away with her wacky sense of humour.

"There, Lilith, is the source of your man trouble" she thought. " You never know when to shut it."

"Well." she said brightly and leapt to her feet. "I don't know about you, but I don't fancy sleeping in the sand tonight. Wanna go and see what we can salvage for some sort of shelter? Even a few blankets would help."

Maria walked over to Lillith and Derrik.

"Hey" she said, slightly waving.

"It's getting dark... and i've got some pineapple soup I made. Here." she handed them two bowls.

"It's not the best but at least it's something. She smiled and ate her own soup.

Derrik blushed red and smiled, watching as Lilith's face filled with horror and nerves. Smiling, he got to his feet and looked down at her, gently touching her cheek and winking playfully

"Maybe I'm just charming to you!" he teased, wanting to assure her that she hadn't said anything wrong, "cause no girl I've ever met has thought I'm charming! Except my daughter of course who finds joy in teasing her old dad!"

He chuckled and followed Lilith off the beach and spotted an abandoned cave in the side of the beach cliff. Shrugging, he wondered in slowly and looked around. It would be okay to sleep in if they had something to lie on, and it would provide shelter if it started to rain: something that seemed to be iminent

"Would this be okay?" he suggested, looking over at Lilith

Derrik paced the small cave and checked for any sign of life, fortunately he found none

"Maybe it could work, you can use my jumper as a blanket if you want" he said, pulling his heavy woolen sweater over his head and handed it, smiling, to Lilith as he sat down on the ground

((eep, Maria offered them soup and they left XD. I hope the way I'm gonna write it is ok...))

Phew....Lilith-emergency averted! Fortunately, Derrik was an easy going guy, she thought and got to her feet, ready to follow in search for something to use as shelter, or at least cover themselves with that night, when Maria stopped by and offered them soup.

"Thanks!" Lilith said gratefully. "I could use something other than that dried up old burger."

After she ate, she put the bowl down and turning to Maria, she said:

"I'm going to go and see what Derrik has managed to find on the beach...we need some sort of shelter tonight, since we're obviously going to spend it here."

It was already rather dark, and she could see no sign of Derrik anywhere. Drat. Well, she still needed the blankets, but who could find anything useful in that pile of debris? And avoid some gruesome encounter with a dead body, too...

At last, she managed to find a suitcase lying open on the ground. Among the clothes, there were two beach towels, too, which she rolled together in a bundle. Just then, she noticed a cave opening in the sheer cliff wall that bordered the beach on one side, and a dark figure in its frame.

Initially startled, Lilith recognized Derrik, momentarily illuminated by a flash of lightning which seared the heavens above them. Drenching and torrential, rain began pouring down within seconds. Yelping, Lilith ran towards the cave, eager to take cover.
Droplets of water glittered in her hair and her eyelashes, which she wiped quickly.

"Whoa, what is this place?" she exclaimed, looking around. "I hope this isn't a bear cave and that we won't get a nasty surprise visit later on..."

Either way, it seemed quite empty at the moment and there was no sign of animal fur or bones on the ground...perhaps the bears on this island lived more inland.

"Would this be okay? Maybe it could work, you can use my jumper as a blanket if you want"

"Thanks" Lilith answered with a smile. "Look what I found, two beach towels. They're kinda...short. You have them, since I already got me a blanket."

That being said, she proceeded to clear the cave flooring and make it as neat and even as possible to lay on.

"Can I ask you an honest question?"

Derrik pulled a face anxiously as the rain started to beat around the cave and a strong wind blew, making him shiver all over. As lightning flashed above he trembled a little, hoping Stacy would be okay, but he knew it wouldn't be a good idea to go out and look for her: not in this weather. Luckily, Lilith ran into the cave and handed him two beach towels, then proceeded to tidy the cave to make it suitable for sleeping on

"Thanks, but we can share them right?" Derrik offered, laying down one of the beach towels on the ground so their heads wouldn't have to lie on the earth

"Can I ask you an honest question?" she asked

Derrik nodded and quirked an eyebrow, wondering what she could want and he sat down on the ground of the cave, shivering again and wrapped the second beach towel around him to keep him a little more warm. He was certainly missing his wooly jumper, but was happy to see it keeping Lilith warm

"Of course you can" he replied with a smile, tapping the spot next to him for her to sit down, "what's the problem?"

Syn hadn't been paying attention to anything. She had been sitting on the sand, neither hearing or seeing. Just thinking. Sometimes singing softly, as she was now.
"... And did come you to stare or wash away the bloo... OH MY GOD!" She pushed herself off the ground, running towards a small body she hadn't see earlier. Rolling it over, she knew she was dead. The blank eyes told her that, and the fact half the child's chest had caved in.
"Debbie." Oh my God ... just the shock of seeing the child dead was too much. Syn fainted.

Lilith eyed the curtain of rain falling just outside their shelter anxiously; what about the rest of the people on the beach? Hopefully they managed to find a dry spot to spend the night in as well.

Next to her, Derek was trying to make himself comfortable, but she noticed him shivering. Considering that she was wearing his sweater caused Lilith to feel rather guilty, so she stood up and said:

"Tell you what. We use the towels to sleep on and share your sweater for this night, it's warmest, and bigger than that towel. If that's, err okay with you." she added hurriedly as she sat down at the man's side, raising one half of the sweater off her shoulders and placing it on his. It was far from a perfect fit, but Lilith was tiny.

"Of course you can. What's the problem?"

"Well, first of all I wanted to tell you this much: remember when Carys, Ana, Maria and myself were out there in the jungle and got chased out? And that I said it was a wild animal? Well, I am pretty sure it wasn't. I don't know what to call it, but that noise it made, you should've heard it...unlike anything I've ever watched on Discovery Channel, if you get my meaning. That, and this island -I don't remember anything like it on the flight map- the fact that nobody came to rescue us today...So my question is...what do you think it's going on? Would it be possible that nobody is coming for us?"

Derrik nodded and moved closer to Lilith so they could share his sweater and he smiled. He wondered whether to dare putting an arm around her shoulders, but he brushed the thought away, not wanting to scare her or put her in an uneasy position. They were abandoned on a desert island and she didn't need complications of guys

"Well, first of all I wanted to tell you this much...

Derrik listened as Lilith explained and he nodded worriedly, running over the days events in his head. It was strange, he agreed, that no one had come to rescue them or had come looking for them, and why had the plane crashed in the first place? As for a monster in the forest, it all sounded too conincidental for words. Maybe there was something more sinister behind this

"I'm not sure," he admitted, "it all seems too...unrealistic. Why did the plane crash anyway?"

Derrik shivered but not from the cold and looked at Lilith, wondering what he should say. He wanted to comfort her and let her know she was okay, but he didn't want to overstep his boundary.

"It'll be okay though" he said in a comforting voice, "whatever happens I promise I'll look after you. You can count me on that one!"

The shared warmth of body heat and Derrik's sweater covering their shoulders and backs lulled Lilith into a state of semi-drowsiness. She felt her muscles ache, and the ever present dull throbbing of her ankle. At length, she removed her boots and placed them aside; if they were going to sleep there that night, platform boots weren't the best footwear. She felt almost safe, and glad that she had found someone to share her worries with. There had been enough panic in the group, people screaming, fainting, crying...she longed for some normality.

"I'm not sure, it all seems too...unrealistic. Why did the plane crash anyway?"

Lilith pondered this, although it meant purposely reliving those terrifying moments when the plane had encountered turbulence, begining to shake violently. Oxygen masks had dropped from the overhead compartments...and then, with a horrible roar, the plane had simply...broken in half, falling out of the sky.

"You're right, too many things don't add up. The way the plane crashed, not to mention quite a few of us surviving with barely a scratch...nobody is that lucky, if you ask me..."

"It'll be okay though. Whatever happens I promise I'll look after you. You can count me on that one!"

"Thank you," she answered gratefully. "We'll look after eachother, deal? We all need to learn to do that, if we're going to survive here..."

Lilith was about to speak further when she became suddenly aware she had been resting her head on Derrik's shoulder for the last half minute. Tired as she was, her mind pondering their accident, combined with the fact that she felt safe around this man she had just met, had caused her subconscious mind to take over momentarily. Realizing though that Derrik, nice as he was, probably didn't want strange women's heads resting on him, she straightened herself quickly.

"We should try and get some sleep", she said with a barely withheld yawn. "Tomorrow's bound to be as exciting as this day has been. Plus, if our guess is right about this whole thing, and no search party comes to the rescue, it's going to get ugly fast. And when the rest of the group realizes it too, it's going to get uglier."

Derrik smiled as Lilith quickly straigtened up and took her head off his shoulder and seemed to blush at the accident of her doing it. As she yawned, his own mouth opened too and he let out an equally big yawn, realising he was just as tired as she was, exhausted from their crash and then the trek across the beach. He only hoped Stacy was safe

"It's okay," he laughed, putting both arms around Lilith and lay down, drawing her close to him so she could keep warm from his body heat. He hoped she wouldn't mind them being so close, especially as they'd just met, but he wasn't in it for anything inparticular. He wasn't a perv

"Try and sleep" he said with a smile

Lilith didn't protest when Derrik cuddled up next to her to sleep. First of all, she was far too tired to be picky, plus she didn't quite like the alternative: that of shivering by herself all night. He had behaved like a gentleman thus far and there was no reason to believe he would stop then; in the "real world" Lilith might've dared something herself, but for the time being she simply wanted to ...sleep.

"Good night" she muttered, closing her eyes. Within seconds, she was fast asleep.

"Hey Hunny, how has your day been?" the man smiled as he talked to his daughter.

"Pretty good. People are becoming friends. Maybe I should do that too. Don't you think so dad?"

"When can I come back? Sleeping in the sand is the last thing I want to do."

Derrik smiled as Lilith was instantly asleep and wished he could be too but the cold wind was biting into his back and preventing him from settling. He could still hear the rain beating hard on the ground outside and the wind howled in the night, plus the occasional flash of lightning and crash of thunder. He shivered and hugged Lilith more tightly, wanting to warm up from her body heat but he didn't want her to get cold herself, he wasn't selfish like that

"Good night" Derrik repeated quietly, wishing he could sleep and he closed his eyes in vain

Stacy covered her hair anxiously as it started to rain and the light suddenly faded, having nowhere to go for shelter and there was no one around. She shivered and trembled in her short strappy dress and took off her high heeled shoes and cast them into the sand, feeling no need for them anymore. As lightning flashed overhead she was thrown off her balance and onto the sand as the lightning struck the beach before her, making her tremble even more. She had been close to losing her life. Stacy staggered to her feet and quickly hurried around the beach, looking for anyone as she had already lost her father. Remembering Josh, the man she had helped before, she stumbled towards where she left him

"Josh!" she called out, wanting anyone to come and rescue her, "someone please help me!"

[Laughy]

Josh woke up and feeling still injured,but at least a little better,he decided to walk around and see who else was alive,Stacy was nowhere to be found,and he hoped she was ok.As he staggered around the beach,he felt soft drops of rain on his hair and saw a flash of thunder in the sky overhead,suddenly hearing someone shouting his name,he knew it was Stacy,she was the only one that knew his name here,he tried to run as fast as he could toward the sound of her voice and started to hope that she wasn't in trouble or anything.

Stacy was almost in tears by now, terrified she would get lost or drown or get eaten by a wild animal or something. She had only ever been camping at camp sites with her friends and wasn't used to life outdoors, she was a city girl. Suddenly she hit a ditch and fell flat into a hole, her foot caught under a heavy stone and she let out a yelp of pain

"Somebody please..." she whispered

Stacy then saw Josh running along the beach and she called out to him desperately, rain water splashing all over her and soaking her slim figure and long blonde hair, making it stick to her head

"Please help me" she whispered, "I can't get out and I think I've broken my ankle"

Josh got to where Stacy was,by now the rain was pounding hard and he was soaked.He saw that she had her ankle stuck and she was definitely in pain,he didn't know what to do,he had neer been in this situation,he felt like screaming and running away,but he couldn't do that,she needed help,he asked her,"Have you ever been in this before?,do you know what to do?"

Stacy held out her hand to Josh to get him to help her up. All she needed was someone to move the rock and help her out, and a safe place to shelter from the rain as she was now shivering hard and freezing cold

"Please..." she whispered, "just help me up and just save me..."

She didn't know what else to say. She prayed Josh would be her knight in shining armour, but she doubted it would be now. He seemed to know less than she did, and she was only nineteen, still a child in the real world and she desperately now just wanted her strong masculine father to save her

Josh grabbed her hand and helped her up,he felt so bad that he hadn't known enough to help her,as he helped her up he asked"are you ok?",a bit loudly,the rain was so noisy,one had to shout out to be heard.

Stacy took Josh's hand and he pulled her to her feet, unfortunately for her to go down only seconds later as she grabbed onto him for support. He ankle was badly sprained and she couldn't stand on it and her arms clung tightly around Josh's waist to hold her upright

"I can't walk" she whispered, "oh my god, I'm supposed to be a dancer! What am I going to do?!"

She attempted to put weight on her left ankle but couldn't yelping out in pain and clung even closer to Josh, needing him to stay on her feet

"We need to get out of the rain" Stacy said anxiously, "we're going to get sick or something!"

Carys woke up from an uneasy sleep and felt sick.

"Ugh, where am I?" Her mind hadn't registered where she was yet. "Why does it feel like sand?"

She could see dark shapes running back and forth. And it suddenly came back to her like a lightbulb.

"Right." She muttered. "I was hoping it was a nightmare." She pulled herself to her feet.

Josh nodded and yelled out,"Yeah,do you know where we can go?",He lifted up her arm and let her lean on his shoulder,he could see that she was badly hurt,"Don't worry,it'll get better",he replied trying to make her feel better,then walking thorugh the rain,he led her and they went to find a shelter.

Stacy held onto Josh as he lead them both out of the storm and into a small clearing on the side of the cliff face. It was barely big enough to hold two people, but it was out of the rain and the chilling wind. She collapsed onto the floor and clutched her ankle, letting out a few unshed tears

"Thank you" she said with a smile, "it's so cold!"

She looked up at Josh and shivered in her damp dress

"Would you feel really uncomfortable if I took my dress off?" she asked, "I just don't want to get sick from wearing damp clothing..."

[Laughy]

Josh shaked his head,"No,i've seen plenty",then he began to look around for sticks and wood,they needed a fire pronto,he found a few pieces of wood and two stones that were relatively dry,he had been a boy scout as a child and actually remebered how to make a fire,after making the fire,he took off his won damp shirt revealing his long thin scar,then settled near the fire to warm himself.

Stacy tentatively pulled her dress over her head and laid it out on a reasonably dry stone so it could dry itself. As she turned back around she saw Josh stripping off too and she swooned a little, her cheeks turning pink as she looked at his built chest. Quickly she turned her head away, not wanting to be caught staring at him

"Wow thanks for making the fire" she smiled

She sat down a little bit apart from Josh, getting the feeling he would rather be anywhere else than sitting in a cave next to her, and she sighed. She just wanted to go home where guys liked her and she could get any man she wanted. Josh was gorgeous, and she sighed to think he clearly couldn't care less about her

"No problem",Josh replied,He caught a sight of her taking off her dress,and quickly turned back to the fire hoping that she didn't see him blush."So,a dancer,what's a dancer doing out here?",he asked,he suddenly felt incapable of making small talk,he just wanted to sit here and enjoy the warm silence made better by Stacy's presence.

Stacy smiled and shrugged as she sat down, watching Josh but didn't want him to know she was admiring him.

"I came with my dad Derrik, we were going on a vacation cause we haven't had one for years!"

She smiled

"What about you? What's a gorgeous guy like you doing stuck here with an idiot like me?" she asked with a slight giggle, "and again, I'm really sorry you have to see me in my underwear! I can take that of too if you like"

Josh replied,"No problem",then turned to look into the fire,hearing stacy's comment he said to her,"no,it's okay,really you don't have to".

Stacy sighed and lay down on the cold floor, wishing she had never said anything. She was teasing Josh and was hoping to spark something: anything inside of him instead of utter repulsion. In fact, she'd just made things worse

"Sorry" she whispered, "I guess I'm not used to being like this with a great looking guy. I'm a little intimidated really!" she chuckled

"I can put my dress back on if you'd prefer" she paused and let out a giggle, "I think I just need to shut up, don't I?"

Derrik was shuddered awake at a very loud crash of thunder and he noticed Lilith was also awake and had moved away from him, sitting against the cave wall with her knees hugged up to her chest. She seemed cold and afraid, almost the same feelings he was having as he struggled to retain them

"Are you okay?" he asked her

He took the discarded wooly sweater from the cave floor and tentatively passed it to the beautiful girl, offering her a warm smile

"You need it more than I do. Please wear it" Derrik said, trying not to scare her or anything

Ana had been walking around and found some suitcases that had not been damaged too badly. Before finding them, she had been also sitting by the ocean, looking out at the sky. She now stood up and walked around, listening for voices. She saw some people in the cave.

"Hey, guys. I found some bags. I know they're not ours, but it's some warm clothing."

Lilith had been awake since shortly before dawn. She had never been much of a sleeper, and this time there were extra reasons for her to be fully awake and alert.

She could hear Derrik shift behind her in his sleep, hear his even breathing. Only now and then he grunted and mumbled incoherently - no doubt his mind was not yet free of the horrors of the previous day.

Lilith, however, was buried in her musings, and dark musings they were.

"I'm so sorry, Lucy..." she thought and a tear trickled down her face. How different life would have been, for her, for everyone, if only Lucy had never been taken...Lilith carried that guilt in her heart and mind, her heaviest burden. Anger bubbled inside of her...it was not fair, what had happened to her, to Lucy, to these poor people stranded on this island against their wishes.

As she sat, her knees against her chest, her gaze lost somewhere in the blue horizon, Derrik awoke.

"Are you okay?"

Lilith nodded and quickly rearranged her features into something resembling her earlier smile.

"Yeah...I was just thinking, you know, about...everything. Slept well?"

When he handed her his sweater, Lilith felt her lower lip quiver, but held back her tears. She never cried before others.

"Hey, guys. I found some bags. I know they're not ours, but it's some warm clothing." Ana said, approaching. Thankful for the excuse to change the subject, Lilith leaped to the opportunity:

"Sweet! Hopefully something in there fits me -and isn't pink. I pretty much stole poor Derrik's sweater." she laughed.

Derrik watched Lilith with a somewhat content smile on his face as she got up to talk to Ana who had just entered the cave. He was reasonably glad for the interruption, as he wouldn't know what more to say to Lilith, feeling extremely intimidated by her as he wasn't used to spending time with young gorgeous girls, except his own daughter. But this was very different

"It's okay," Derrik laughed, "you can keep my sweater if you like."

He walked over to Anabel and watched the two girls root through the assortment of clothing in the two damp suitcases, a pale blue shirt catching his eye. Derrik reached out and grabbed it, attempting to subtly pull off his wet shirt and change without displaying his well-toned tanned stomach to the girls in the cave

"Hey it fits!" he teased as he started to do up the buttons, "did you girls sleep well?"

Syn woke up, and realized she was wet. Her silver hair was plastered to her head, her clothes had gone a little see-through and she was shivering madly because she was cold. She stood up, and spared Debbie's corpse one last glance, before maing her way across the beach, passing a few caves.

Lilith shifted through the clothes found by Ana with faked interest; fashion was the last thing on her mind. Although, if truth be said, she could have used something more practical than her skirt.
At last, she found a pair of stretchy black jeans which she slid on her legs quickly and buttoned them underneath her skirt, which she then removed. This she paired with a comfy cotton top and replaced her boots.

"Much better!" she concluded, and turned to Derrik, who was trying on a new shirt of his own. "Slept wonderfully, thanks, apart from a rock constantly sticking in my side..."

"Now if only the doctors in my hospital had abs like that, work would've been so much more interesting." she joked. "Thanks for the sweater."

Crossing her arms, she gazed from Ana to Derrik, narrowing her eyes in thought:

"You know, we are really going to need to find some food today and I don't mean old scraps from the plane. And water...although that means going in there again."

Lilith's thumb pointed straight to the green line of the jungle in the distance and noticing a very wet and shivering Syn walking by.

"Hey, Syn!" she called, waving a hand. "You ok? You look cold...come here, we found some relatively dry clothes, and it looks like you could use some."

"Hey, Syn!"

Syn looks up, noticing Lillith and two other people in one of the caves. She smiles at them, and walks over.

"You ok? You look cold...come here, we found some relatively dry clothes, and it looks like you could use some."

"Thanks. I fell asleep on the beach last night before it started raining so ... I got soaked." She smiles shyly at Derrik and Anabel. She never was good with people.

Derrik's cheeks flushed very red at Lilith's comment and he let out a chuckle, having not wanted to draw attention to his built physique, although he was more than delighted to have Lilith admiring him. Maybe he wasn't as old and over the hill as he considered himself to be -34 and not dead yet

"Thanks" he chuckled, "and you can't have slept that well having me sleep beside you!" he teased

Derrik finished buttoning up his shirt and watched as Lilith pointed at the dense jungle in the distance, pursing his lips anxiously. From what he had heard the previous evening, mixed with the fear all of the woman who had ventured into the wood had shared, it didn't look like a great place to be

"I'll look after you all" he said, hoping it didn't sound as terribly macho as it had done in his head, "as best I can anyway!"

Derrik stuck his hands on his hips and looked out at the jungle, letting out a little shudder

"I think it's best to try and go in when it's light as we'll be able to see better," he concluded, "so that means we'd better go in as soon as we can, as long as we stick together. I don't want anymore casualties on this god forsaken island!"

He smiled as Syn joined them in the cave and he waved to her, showing she was welcome

Lilith listened to Derrik's advice and nodded; he was right, if there was a time to attempt going into the jungle, it was in broad daylight. She hoped they would not be...bothered, not by anyone.

""I'll look after you all as best I can anyway!"

Lilith put a hand on his shoulder, in a gesture of assurance:

"I know. And well all look after eachother" she promised, and turned away so that he couldn't see the sudden frown shadowing her eyes.

"I don't want this man hurt, damnit!" she mused and balled her fists for a moment.

"Want to come with us? We could use some extra help carrying food, and keeping an eye out." she asked Anabel and Syn.

"All right. What do you need me to lift?" Keeping an eye out. Well, I don't have to keep an eye out for a certain survivor. She felt like she was going to cry again.

Derrik smiled at Lilith, promising he wouldn't let any harm come to her and he took a few steps towards the entrance to the cave, not wanting her to see anything deeper beneath his blue eyes. He nodded a head to Syn, holding out his hand to gesture for her to follow him

"You can carry as much as possible!" he joked, running along the still damp beach until he reached the forest and he shuddered, looking in at the darkening hole that seemed to close up in front of them, trapping anyone from exiting and luring unsuspecting passers-by into its shadowy depths. A cold chill ran down his spine and he checked to make sure Lilith and Syn were in close distance of him

"I'm going in" he said in an overly dramatic voice as he tried to lighten the mood

He then disappeared into the darkness of the jungle

Branches broke and leafs fell as she ran through the forest. No one was going to find out, no one. And no one was going to hurt her father, she would do everything to stop those people. She hid behind a bush and saw a man walking in the forest, probably not knowing what was going to happen to him.
It was so simple, they would just blackmail the lost ones, and everything was going to be ok.
One wrong move of a new one, and it meant death. She was going to do it, now.

The same loud, unknown noise echoed through the forest. Birds escaped and flew away to never come back and it felt like the earth was shaking.

"I'm going in"

"Derrik!" Lilith called out and extended an arm to stop him, but it was too late. He had already vanished in the darkness of the jungle enclosing about them like a curtain of leaves and vines.

Lilith felt nervous; something was afoot in there. It was too quiet, and a foreboding feeling hung above them. Too soon, too soon! Goddamnit...

"I'm going after him" she said to Syn. "Stay close if you decide to come too."

"Derrik, where are you?!" she called out again, looking from left to right. Sweat began to form on her forehead. She began to ran, but all of a sudden, out of nowhere, a thousand sirens blared as they had before, obliterating all else. Birds escaped through the branches in a flurry, beating their wings desperatedly as heavy footsteps stamped nearby. Other small animals scurried out of the way...

And then, she noticed movement, the subtle movement of feet in the grass.

"I'm going after him"

Syn didn't hear what she said after that, because she was already running after her.
"Lillith, wait!" Syn took a wrong turn, finding herself in a tangle of long grass, trees, and vines draping from said trees.
"Lillith? Derrik? Where are you?" She heard a rustle behind her, and almost broke her neck trying to see.
"Guys, this isn't funny." More rustling.
"Your freaking me out now." Just then, she heard felt something on the back of her neck, and screamed.

DERRIK

Derrik felt reasonably okay walking through the forest, hoping Lilith and Syn wouldn't follow him as he feared for their safety more than his own, especially Lilith's. He heard the crackling of feet nearby and he stopped, beginning to tremble a little, hearing Lilith shouting his name

All of a sudden he was blown backwards by a loud noise of thousands of drums crashing and lightning and he looked around him anxiously, desperately praying that the other girls were okay. He had promised to protect them and he instantly started back the way he came, but to his dismay, the jungle had closed him in. Thankfully Derrik spotted Syn in a tangle of trees and he walked up behind her, gently touching the back of her neck and was taken aback as she screamed

"No no it's just me!" he whispered, covering her mouth

As if from nowhere, suddenly something crashed into his thigh and Derrik lurched backwards in pain, dropping to the floor with a loud shriek. He got to his feet again and attempted to run from the jungle and pulled Syn with him, not wanting to get caught by this apparent 'wild animal.' As he ran he saw Lilith and he grabbed her hand, desperate to keep her from harm

Syn continued screaming into the palm of someone's hand, but stopped when she heard Derrik's voice. Trembling she turned to ask him something, but he was on the floor. Before she could attempt to help him, he was running away, dragging her behind him.
"Where are we going? And how do you know your way around here?" I'm cold, wet, tired and hungry. Running around in a creepy jungle isn't number one on my "to-do" list. Having a hot shower is.

Lilith froze, senses alert. She felt the dampness of the jungle on her skin, its musky smell all around her. After the deafening noise...silence.
She waited, crouching low, listening to those subtle footsteps getting fainter and fainter until they were...gone.

Lilith sprinted in their wake, runing like a rabid being, and yelped when she felt someone grabbing her arm. Her body tensed, poised to strike, when she recognized Derrik and Syn, looking desheveled and panting. There was blood oozing from Derrik's thigh.

Without thinking of anything else, or the consequences, Lilith suddenly pulled both their sleeves, tugging urgently. There was a look of distress on her soot-covered face, and her eyes pleaded silently:

"We have to go! Now! Run, run RUN!"

The look on Lillith's face made Syn's heart freeze with terror. It made her more scared than when she realized the plane was going to crash.

DERRIK

Derrik didn't hesitate to do exactly as Lilith was screaming and he started a fast sprint in the direction he thought was out of the forest, his hand still firmly clutched in Lilith's and Syn's, not willing to let either of them go and he wasn't about to leave them. The growling and the footsteps started to get louder again and he looked around anxiously, spotting something in one of the trees

"Go ahead go NOW!" he demanded the two of them, turning back

He winced from the agony of the wound to his thigh, but blocked it from his memory, knowing he had to get the thing he'd spotted in one of the trees a little way back. He had too. Derrik looked over at the two girls and noticed them lingering, and he shouted after them insistantly

"Go on! RUN! GET OUT!" he yelled, reaching up into the tree to grab a couple of coconuts they could use for food and drink

"Where do we run to?"

Lilith's jaw tightened in annoyance; she had no idea in what kind of danger they were! They had to go, fast!
Derrik however needed no further encouragement and began running, limping because of his leg yet not letting go. Lilith's heart hammered against her ribs: they had to get out of the jungle,just had to!

"Go on! RUN! GET OUT!"

Lilith turned to see what he was waiting for and saw him reaching for coconuts.

"Forget those, there's more than one monster in this jungle!" she screamed as loud as she could, tugging his sleeve, but then suddenly, there was a blur of black smoke, leaves and Lilith being pulled by her legs downwards, and dragged on through the jungle, while her screams echoed.

Derrik let go of the coconuts from the tree as his leg started to give way, but he refused to let it as Lilith tugged on his sleeve, willing him to run faster. However, almost at once they were enveloped in black smoke and Lilith's grasp on his arm was gone, followed by a disappearance of the smoke and he and Syn were left almost alone

"Oh f**k no!" Derrik swore

He had promised to protect Lilith, and more than that: he wanted to protect her. His feelings for her had developed quite quickly, not really certain of what they were right now and he trembled. Derrik took off so fast that he couldn't even feel the pain in his leg and he chased the smoke until he caught up, reaching into it and grabbed Lilith's hand

"Hold onto me!" he shouted, dragging her out and wrapped her arms around his waist

She seemed stunned, so Derrik, picked her up and ran back through the jungle, snatching up Syn's hand and almost at once they were out of the thickness. He could see light and the beach was only meters away, pushing his way out he collapsed onto the sand as there was another sickening roar from the forest

"Are you both okay?" he asked panting, letting go of Lilith, "sh*t! None of you should dare going back in there. Gottit!"

Lilith clawed at the grass and treeroots that covered the jungle floor, grasping at anything her fingers could reach. She squirmed and fought with all her strength against the menace that pulled her on and on at ever increasing speed, rattling and wheezing, uprooting vegetation as it rampaged. She grunted and gasped, her full will to live having taken control of her...she was not going to give in to it, she was not!

And then, a hand appeared out of nowhere and dragged her forward. She felt the monster's grip loosening, and she pushed as well, until her waist was free for Derrik to hold on to. Amazingly, astoundingy, he managed to get her free, and she ran for it.

"Are you both okay? sh*t! None of you should dare going back in there. Gottit!"

Before she could prevent it, Lilith dissolved in tears, and buried her face in her hands:

"Forgive me! You were both nearly killed, and, and..."

Just as fast however she regained the grip on her wits: Lilith was not one for hysterics. Taking a few deep breaths and clearing her eyes, she glanced at Derrik, then at Syn:

"Thank you. Thank you for not leaving me behind. We will have to find food elsewhere. Fish if needed. And set up water taps for rain."

And all the while, her mind whirrled...the consequences, which neither of the two realized yet, were hurtling towards them like a hurricane across the jungle...

Derrik smiled awkwardly, unsure what to do as Lilith started crying but he walked behind her and patted her back comfortingly. If that...'thing' had got her then he wouldn't have been able to live with himself, having promised to protect and being the first one to venture into the jungle. She had nearly died

"It's going to be okay..." he said, trying to convince himself also

Derrik sighed and smiled at both Lilith and Syn, but suddenly winced at the pain in his leg. Something had gone at his thigh and the blood was oozing at the way down his leg, staining the material of his trousers

"Don't anyone go back in there" he said quickly

Hurriedly, he stood up and walked away from the two girls a little, not wanting to see how much pain he was in and he tore the material around the blood, pouring a couple of drops of rain water onto the wound to help the stinging.

Lilith brushed the hair out of her face; her old ponytails had been reduced to a shaggy mess. God, she needed a shower, but the thought was so remote she quickly brushed it aside.

She felt frightened, and very alone. She couldn't tell Derrik...she had to maintain her position. For a while longer. Oh god, Lucy!

In the meantime however, she couldn't bear having the man who saved her life tend to his wound by himself without her trying to help. It was the very least she could do; she was a doctor, after all, and it was embedded in her spirit.

"I could have a look at it if you want...I don't deal only with lunatics, you know" she smiled. "The wound needs to be dressed either way, and there was some clean linen in that suitcase Anabel found earlier."

Derrik winced but managed to keep most of the signs of pain from his face, peeling back the material from his trousers and examined the wound: it was a bite, just an animal bite and not a threat from 'anything' inside the forest. Still, it looked pretty nasty and it needed cleaning out quickly. He looked up and saw Lilith approaching him, his face clouding

"I could have a look at it if you want...I don't deal only with lunatics, you know" she smiled. "The wound needs to be dressed either way, and there was some clean linen in that suitcase Anabel found earlier."

Derrik smiled and ran his hands through his hair, breathing deeply to try and comprehend everything that was going on. Plus, his daughter Stacy was still missing, hopefully she hadn't ventured into the forest and been caught by that...thing

"Thank you" he said in a whispery voice, not summoning the strength to do anything else

He paused and slipped out of his trousers, feeling uncomfortable standing on the beach in his navy blue boxers, but it was easier to get to the wound rather high up and the inside of his thigh. Derrik would need to dress it and clean it

"Can you have a look" he asked, his own doctor position taking into action as he sat down on the sand, "it definately needs dressing before I lose anymore blood, plus it could get infected"

Lilith nodded seriously, crouching low to inspect the wound which had a nasty reddish hue spreading from it: she couldn't tell what had bitten him, but knowing that island (and she knew it well!) it could've been something nasty. She hoped to god it wasn't venomous.

"Wait right here" she called and ran towards the caves where they had spend the night - there she flipped the suitcase open and started plucking out its contents, until she found something she thought she could use: a white shirt.

Returning to Derrik's side, she ripped it in even threads, long enough to wrap around his leg. With the remaining bit she dabbed the wound, cleaning out the dirt and blood as best as she could.

"Sorry" she apologized when he cringed. "If you're lucky, it's going to heal pretty quick. We'll need to find water though, monster or no monster."

As she dressed Derrik's leg, Lilith's mind reeled: she knew! She must've seen her help them, which meant he would soon find out as well...her betrayal...Lilith was as terrified for her own fate as she was for that of her poor sister, Lucy...she had to get Lucy out of that place...! But how? She couldn't tell the lost ones the truth, who would risk their lives for her, who had been sent there to harm them. Even Derrik, whom she honestly liked...would he shun and turn against her once he found out who she really was?

Maria looked at Lillith. Betrayal she thought. My father will know about this.

"Lillith!" she said as she ran over to her.

"Can you come with me? I found some fruit." she lied, a glimpse of darkness showing in her eyes.

"Get better" she said to Derrik.

"We need some strong legs"

"Lillith!"

"Can you come with me? I found some fruit."

Lilith was so startled, she practically stumbled to her feet, eyes wide with barely withheld fear. Maria! So, she had guessed right, it had been her out there in the jungle, and she knew! She knew...

"I'll be right back, okay?" she said to Derrik, struggling to keep her features even and untroubled as she held Maria's darkening gaze: she had done what her conscience had told her to, these people weren't a threat! Why did he believe they were? They had crashed there, for god's sake!

"So....are you going to tell him what I did?" Lilith asked flatly when she and Maria were out of earshot.

"Give me one reason why I shouldn't." she said flatly. "It's not our job to protect them Lillith." she said.

"We need to keep them from the base or else bad things will happen to them, and not only them. To us, and our family. My father is willing to kill me just to keep this a secret Lillith! We need to do this. And you know what's your reason, so if you're willing to give Lucy up for some random strangers, then do it. But don't think everything will be ok, and everything will be kept a secret. Heads will roll." she walked further in the forest.

"So, choose. Or we keep them from the base, or we bring them to the base. But there's no way we can help them Lillith."

"A reason? How about attacking people who have done us no harm? We know this island, Maria, they do not! They are lost, starving with the monster attacking everyone who walks in the jungle, they have no weapons, nothing."

She walked in silence for a while, listening to the sound of dew dripping off the branches above. The jungle was deceptively peaceful.

"I am not saying we shouldn't protect ourselves the best we can, and your father knows very well I would do nothing to endanger our family...or Lucy. Our base is far away and well hidden....if we allowed them to venture in the jungle enough to get some water and some food, there's no reason why they should ever even come close to the base. I don't mind staying behind and making sure that never happens. I swear...if...if you can promise me no harm will come to my sister."

"I am telling you, abducting the whole group will create more problems...but of course, that is not my decision to make. It's your father's."

"Why I was there, in the forest, is because they were close to a recieving tower. They aren't that well hidden you know. If they find it, we are in trouble. And he doesn't want to abduct the whole group, only the useful ones. Now, if you want to see Lucy you can, but you need to pay for it, like I have to do for the things I want. We only have to bring one person to the base and we can do what we want, like sleeping in the base, seeing our family and much more. One person, Lillith. It should be easy for us. Now, are you going to help me, or stay here and risk your own life?" she took a deep breath and leaned against a tree.

This was the tree with the trap, since it was close to the base. When someone touched it, it would bring up a net, which would hang them up there, with no oppertunity to escape.

Derrik flinched as Lilith dressed his wound, touching his leg where the bite was and dabbed at it with some clean linen. He knew it was all for the good, but he couldn't help nearly scream in pain. She apologized to him for hurting him, and he knew she wasn't doing it deliberatley, she wasn't like that, and he nodded

"It's okay" he said with a smiled

Before Lilith could finish, Maria approached her and took her away, but before she turned her back, Derrik could see the nervous and troubled look Lilith had shot him, almost like a plee for help. He stayed sitting down but watched the two women, ready to jump to her defence if she needed it: more than ready

Lilith stood tense and alert, a few steps away from Maria, stubbornly averting her gaze. She felt torn and miserable...what could she do? She couldn't abandon her little sister...on the other hand, she didn't wish any harm to come to Derrik, or any of the survivors. She resented Maria's father for having brought her to the island under a false pretext then used Lucy to buy her obedience, time and time again...when those drug smugglers had crashed on the island, it had been Lilith who had put a knife in the last one...but she would not do it again.

"If I agree...I have one condition of my own. I can help you get that one person to the base but only if you can promise me they will remain unharmed."

"I will promise you they will stay unharmed." she said simply.

She touched the tree and watched the net get up and hang there, with nothing in it.

"Those traps really s*ck, no one ever walks in one." she sighed and walked back to the camp, picking up coconots and fruits to pretend like she really had found fruit.

She would make sure of it, Lilith mused darkly to herself. Maria's father might have been their leader, but Lilith had a natural sense for their surroundings; plus, she knew the compound like the back of her hand. The only thing she didn't know was where he kept the submarine which could take her and Lucy away from that dreadful place.

Lilith lingered behind to pick several mangos and a few passion fruits; she had someone else's needs in mind as well. To her relief, Derrik was where she had left him:

"Hey there, I'm back" she greeted, trying to sound her usual bright self. "It's time for your afternoon meal, Mr. Derrik Plastic Surgeon, and you should know I don't take refusals from my patients"

She handed him half her fruits, smiling.

She would have to make sure he would not be captured...at any cost.

Derrik looked up from tending his leg as Lilith greeted him again, handing him half of the fruits that she was carrying in her hands, that infectious smile on her face again. He smiled and sat back, breaking open the passion fruit and ate a little, wincing as he straightened out his leg

"Are you okay?" he asked her with a laugh

He smiled and shuffled next to her, letting her lean her head on his shoulder and he stroked her hair gently

"Figured out what we're gunna do on this deserted island yet?" Derrik asked teasingly, sighing to himself, "you know what. You're fast making this 'experience' bareable for me. Thank you" he smiled warmly

Anabel sat with Derrik and Carrie, now wrapped in a sweater that was about 4 times too large. Her slight frame still was a little chilly in the knitted wool, and she sat curled up, her arms hugging her knees and her bright blue eyes fixated on the ground. Worry filled the ice blue eyes of Anabel as she looked around at her companions.

Lilith handed some fruit to Anabel; she wasn't particularly hungry despite having gone almost without eating for 2 days; there was a knot in her throat and a void in her stomach: which of the people around her would end up in one of the many traps around the jungle, then taken against their wishes to a secret compound? The fact that she had to make that choice sickened her.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah...just a little tired you know", Lilith murmured and allowed her head to gently recline on Derrik's shoulder. The breeze was cool and soothing in her face, decepively so. She started a little when Derrik's fingers passed through her hair, but couldn't keep a smile from curbing her corners of her parched lips.

"Figured out what we're gunna do on this deserted island yet? you know what. You're fast making this 'experience' bareable for me. Thank you"

"And so are you. If it hadn't been for you back there in the jungle, who knows what would've happened to me" she replied, and placed a swift kiss on his cheek. Looking to both her companions, she said:

"I guess we'll all just have to keep on surviving on this bloody island until we can figure out a way to leave it. But it doesn't mean we have to give in to despair...I'd invite you for a swim, but that wound of Derrik's will sting like hell in salty water."

Josh laughed a little,Stacy was so cute the way she was talking,she was definitely bubbly and way different than other girls he had met before."No,seriously you don't have to,or i will personally throw your dress away",he replied laughing,He winced a little as a ittle drop of water touched his knee,he had nearly forgotten about this and that was a jolt for him.

Stacy giggled and lay back in the cave as the sun started to come up and the rain began to cease. She looked over at Josh and called him over with her finger, signalling for him to lay beside her

"Maybe I'll do the same with your shirt!" she teased, running her hands across her own flat stomach and tiny black and pink knickers, "you know, just so we're both on a level playing field here!" she teased, pouting at him playfully

Josh laughed heartily looked out to the rising sun,somehow the island didn't seem as bad as it looked before.Then he looked back at Stacy and couldn't help but think that being on this island with her definitely made things hotter.

"Then maybe that gives me more motive to do it,don't you think?",he replied winking mischievously.

Stacy giggled and stuck her tongue out at Josh, amused by the mischievious wink he'd thrown her and she almost wanted to throw one back, but told herself to behave. She ran her fingers down his chest delicately and smiled into his eyes

"Thanks for saving me last night" she whispered, gently pressing a finger to his lips, "my knight in shining armour!" she teased

Josh smiled back at Stacy,and felt a little flutter as she ran her fingers down his chest,Was it him or where things getting a whole lot hotter in here,Yeah it was definitely him."Knight in shining armour huh?,my pleasure then",he teased.

Stacy raised an eyebrow and felt her body heating up from how close she and Josh were, but she smiled naughtily, shiffting even closer to him and rested her head on her strong chest. She looked up at him and bit her lip, winking mischieviously as he had to her

"Would that make me the damsel in distress then!?" she teased, "or am I sleeping beauty? Wait...didn't the prince wake up sleeping beauty with a...kiss!" she teased

Josh smiled back coyly,feeling her hair on his chest,"Well,then who am i to refuse then oh princess ",then he leaned in raised her head with his hand and kissed her softly and gently.

Stacy giggled and pulled away from Josh after they had kissed and she smiled cheekily, tickling his chest again and turned over in his arms

"Now I'll be forced to permanently remove your shirt!" she teased

Stacy looked over her shoulder at Josh and winked again

"Maybe your jeans too!" she teased

Josh smiled after Stacy pulled back then started kissing her neck,her hair smelled like strawberries which was a huge turn on for him,then he replied "I wouldn't go there if i were you".

Stacy laughed and giggled as Josh kissed her neck, his little fleeting kisses tickling her bare skin as she lay. She turned her head and let him kiss her on the mouth again and then moved her hands to tickle his back

"Oh god!" she teased, "maybe I won't go there then!"

Stacy giggled again and poked him in the stomach and then quickly got to her feet, moving to lean against the wall of the cave and sighed happily, closing her eyes and her hands clasped her bare shoulders

"Feeling better now?" she asked teasingly

Josh smiled a little in his mind as Stacy got up and went to the other side of the cave,"Oh that's great,mock the guy with the bad knee",he said in mock anger,then turned away sulking teasingly.

Stacy giggled and snatched up Josh's hands and pulled him back to face her, pouting out her lips playfully and tickled him in the stomach, dragging him over to the other side of the gave and then sat down on his lap, running her hands through his hair

"Is this mocking you?" she teased, "cause if it is, I love mocking you!" she giggled

Josh laughed and almost fell to the ground,as she sat in his lap it got hotter again,"Well then i guess you won't mind me mocking you too",and he kissed her again on the lips and ran his hands thorugh her hair.

Stacy let out a loud chuckle and responded to Josh's kiss, taking his hands and placed them on her bare waist and wrapped her own arms around his neck. It was odd to be making out with a guy when you were stranded on a desert island, especially when her father had disappeared somewhere

"I guess I don't mind too much!" she giggled

Stacy stroked his cheek playfully and kissed him again

"Is it me or is it hot in here!" she teased, undoing the back of her lacy bra and chucked it over Josh's head
