View Full Version : Sims 2 has suddenly stopped starting

Hi there - I've got a rather baffling problem.

I've been playing Sims 2 all day, stopping and starting as you do to dip in and find some custom content. The last time I did this, when I went to go back into the game, absolutely nothing happened. So, it didn't even start up and crash or freeze or anything, I just double-clicked on the icon on my desktop as usual and just nothing happened at all.

I did the usual things, assuming it was something I'd recently downloaded but that didn't work, still no start up at all. Eventually, I saved the folders I wanted to keep my desktop, completely deleted the Documents/EA Games/Sims 2 folder and it worked - I added my folders back in and everything seemed to be fine until I came out again just now and it won't start again. But it doesn't 'seem' to be my downloads that are the problem.

Does anyone have any advice for me? Many thanks in advance.

T

Did you try the 'quick fix' ? Delete your groups.cache file and try again? It's part of the FAQ you were linked to before posting.

Oh dear, that's very blush-making, all seems to be working now. Thanks so much for that but I'm sorry I didn't notice it in the FAQ. Not that this is an excuse but it's a bit 'stupid o'clock in the morning' where I am, so I'm not at my most observant.

Anyway, thanks again! :)

Not a problem. The group.cache file gets corrupted and sometimes you have to delete it. :) Well done for fixing your game.
