How do I edit the OBJK file in an object? In S3PE when it is highlighted the editor button remains greyed out. I tried exporting it in S3PE, but the editor button remains greyed out. I'm trying to make a lounge chair mimic a bed so sims can read while lounging. What am I doing wrong, or am I going about it the wrong way?

Use the grid. That's what you use for everything in s3pe.

There isn't a user-friendly editor created for it yet, so unfortunately at the moment the grid (or a hex editor) is the only way. Are you wanting to change the scriptclass to that of a bed? You can do that easily in Grid view

Yeah, I wanted to change the line that says:
Data: "Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.Seating.Mimics.ChairLoungeAdirondack"
and have it mimic a bed. I want the sims to be able to read while in the lounge chairs. I tried making an XML mod to allow it, but it won't work.
I haven't tried the grid yet, wasn't sure what it did. Will try that. Thanks!

Open the Keys '+' sign and eventually you will find the bit to open with the scriptclass in it and you can paste the one you want into it.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but it won't let me paste anything into the scriptclass. I think I'm doing something wrong, but not sure what. Going to start over, reclone the object and try again.

Sometimes Ctrl-V doesn't work and you need Right-Click->Paste.

I don't think recloning will make any difference to the Grid operation. Are you absolutely sure you have the latest s3pe? There was an earlier version where you could not edit that field in the OBJK.

highlight (click) the objk reference then click grid. click where it says "keys" click the "..."button at the end then click [1]key under ccstring paste a scriptclass such as (example) "Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.Decorations.Mimics.SculptureGlobe"(this gives the interaction "view") then click close button then commit button then finally save.
Make sure you click the scriptclass so it is highlighted and paste or edit the value. (see pic)

I must not have the newest version. It won't let me do that, I tried. I'll download the latest and try again. Thanks for the help!
ETA: I had the 07-13-09 version. Redownloaded and was able to edit the OBJK. Apparently though, changing the scriptclass didn't work. I changed it to mimic the BrassBedSingle, but when put in game the sim couldn't use it. The options Relax, Sleep, and Nap were there but when directed to relax, the sim got the route fail/path blocked thought bubble. I thought that making it mimic the bed would allow them to read while relaxing in the chair since the animation is the same, but something is blocking it, possibly the arms on the lounge chair. I don't know. I then changed it to mimic the club chair. After changing it, the only option available was Sit. When directed to Sit, the sim got the route fail/path blocked thought bubble again. Is there anything else I can try or change to make a lounge chair sims can read in?

It's much more complicated than that. Sims 3, like Sims 2, has routing slots on its objects. You have to make sure there are routing slots to match what you are telling your sims to do.
I'd like to take this opportunity to remind all readers to subscribe to the download threads for the tools you are using so that you will know when there are new releases.

Ok, how do I find out how many routing spots there are? Can I add routing spots? Is there something else I can do?

I think TigerM has recently been adding a lot of info about routing slots and footprints to the wiki. But it's all very early days yet and if you're doing this sort of work at this stage you're going to be on your own discovering a lot of things for yourself, I'm afraid.
