Hi ! I've been having this issue for a while, I hope it hasn't been discussed already (no matter what words I type in, I alwaysget the same results... go figure o_O) but anyways.

I've noticed that sometimes, the game doesn't let me place a lot where I want to, no matter what size the lot is, or what I move out of the way, the lot stays red and just won't settle where I click.

Anybody can tell me the reason why a lot couldn't be placed in a particular place ?

Thanks :)

EDIT : I added a picture to the message... the lot I'm trying to put there WAS actually there before, I wanted to try it at a different place, except when I tried to put it back, it didn't work.

Are you able to put an empty lot of the same size in that spot? If that works you could try to place the empty lot, bulldoze it, and then place your actual lot.

ETA: inability to place lots is usually due to one of two things:

- neighbourhood decoration being in the way
- the terrain not being flat, mostly caused by one of the neighbouring lots having an unlevel edge.

Placing an empty lot and bulldozing it will attempt to flatten the terrain – however, when there is a lot border nearby that isn't level, the terrain will remain unlevel. To test for unlevel edges from within a neighouring lot, turn moveobjects off, delete everything from the last tiles next to the border, and then hover a 1-tile object over those tiles. If it is placeable everywhere (green footprint), the edge is flat. If it isn't, it's not.

You can flatten edges with Mootilda's Lot Adjuster, available on this site. You could also use that to manually move a lot where you desire (but be aware that that may result in visible tears at the lot edge, when it's next to an unlevel edge .. this is kind of a brute force approach).
